Chapter 10: Kristen

Ember: “KRISTEN!” He screamed, hitting the barrier once again, burning his fist that barely began to heal. I increase the energy, strengthening the barrier, fearing somehow that he would try to break through. I could hear my children crying, calling for their father. My anger grew. They were upsetting my children. How dare they! “Enough!” I screamed. “I’m the mate and Luna of the Blood Moon pack. Your Alpha is my husband, and these are his pups. You will stand down or you and your families will be the ones ripped limb to limb.” “Kristen,” the man cried, falling to the floor, the pain of his burns finally hitting him, as he seemingly blacking out. I looked at him as blood poured from his wounds on the floor. No one moved to help him. My head ached, thinking about the name he had screamed. Who was Kristen? I looked towards the warriors. They seemed frozen, shock expressions written on their faces. Tension filled the air and the silent pause grew. My children's cries became quiet and turned to look at them. Tears stained their little faces, but their distress seemed to calm. Mother seemed to be frozen, looking at the strange man who screamed a name that didn’t belong to either ‌of us. My head ached, trying to thinking if I had seen this man before. But I knew that was impossible. This warrior had never been to our home. I had never seen him before. I couldn't know either of us. But something about his face seemed oddly familiar. “What the f**k is going on here?” I heard my mate scream as he broke through the warriors. Soon his face came into view and tears rushed from me. I had almost forgotten his face, my sweet mate. I threw down the barrier, rushing into his arms. Damien meets me halfway, wrapping his arms around me. His grip tightened as I sobbed in his arms. I could feel the mate bond pulled me towards him, leaning into lips. He gladly accepted my kiss, deepening it as we became lost in a passionate embrace. His hands reached my hair, intertwining his fingers, and he accessed my mouth, slipping his touch into my mouth. We didn’t care about anyone else in the room at that moment. Everything and everyone seemed to melt away as our lips pressed together, our tongues exploring each other's mouths. I inhale his scent and wetness pulls in my lower half. I knew we would share a passionate night. Neither of us would sleep, not at all. “Daddy,” I heard Harris scream before hearing him rush to our side, joining our hug. His tight arms wrapped around his leg, as a sobbed escaped him. Our kiss broken as he turned his attention to our son, his hand falling to the top of his head, giving him a comforting touch. Harris missed his father almost as much as I did. Their parent-pup bond would need strengthening after their weeks apart. I heard mother’s footsteps, and she joined us, passing our daughter to her father. He held her close, kissing her face before breaking away to address the warriors. “I do not know what happened here, but you clearly upset my mate and our pups. I will punish all of you for your crimes. Beta Justus, call my warriors and take these bastards to the pack prison. I will deal with them later,” Damien ordered, to a man near his side. The man nodded and lifted his radio to call in reinforcements. The men remained frozen, unable to think what to say to their angry Alpha. Till the first warrior gains the power to speak. “Alpha, we did not know this witch was your mate, or these children were your pups. We can’t be blamed for what happened,” the warrior spoke fearlessly. “And my mate is to be blamed? Are my children to be blamed?” Damien yelled, his voice booming in the air.. “No, Alpha, I mean, I just mean that we didn’t know,” the warrior muttered, his body trembling. “And that’s how you treat a guest of our pack. You are disgusting. You are hereby an omega,” Damien declared, landing a blow on his face. The warrior fell back, blood rushing from his broken, twisted nose. “This is my mate, and your Luna, she will be respected. She will be honored. If something like this happens again, I will kill each and everyone one of you with my bare hands,” Damien stated, taking my hand and leading us towards the exit. I watched as I passed the faces of the warriors bound for prisons, each of them bearing their necks towards us, submitting to their Luna. We walked toward the car we brought with us. Damien helped me into the passenger side before mother and he helped the children into the car. Soon we were driving to the pack house, Damien hands resting on thigh as stare ahead thinking about the events that just unfolded. Who was that strange man calling out for Kristen? He threw himself against my bubble, screaming for her. He must have believed that he had seen this woman. My mother, as far as I know, had never left the forest. She couldn’t know this warrior. Did he think that I was Kristen? I mean, it had always been a mystery where I came from. I was found on the edge of the river, bruised and broken. I completely lost my memories in the stream. The water washed away everything I was before remaking me. The thought of who I was before never crossed my mind because it never mattered. It still doesn’t matter. Because I know who I am now. I’m a mother, a wife and Luna. And that is who I want to be. I knew I would never see that warrior again. Soon, I would forget him. I will be too busy with the children and the pack for him to even cross my mind. We can move on from this and focus on building our new lives here. Finding our places and building new relationships. There was so many new people to meet, so many new skills to learn in my new role of Luna.
