Chapter one Life is easy, you don't need to take it seriously. You have to learn how to dance with the flow. For every single day, there's a new beginning. Kristine Gale Gazmen is one of the best general surgeon in town. At the age of 29, she finished her residency for five years before she came back in Philippines to work in one of the best hospitals –KTFGH. King T. F general hospital. She's been dreaming to wear a white coat, she wanted to be a gynecologist, but ended up to be a general surgeon. But then, she didn't forget her first dream —she always wanted to hold a newborn baby, she always dreamed of her —watching a baby coming out from mothers womb–in her own hands.  She took up a two- year- course —midwifery. She passed the board exam and now, she has two license —a general surgeon and midwife.  Pumasok siya sa loob ng locker room at kinuha ang kanyang doctors coat. Itinali ang buhok ng top knot bun saka lumabas. She felt familiarity of what she is doing now—walking in this huge hospital.  Napabaling siya sa emergecy room dahil sa ingay ng mga tao. May isang lalaking nasa katamtaman ang tangkad, the man is holding the nurse in the collar line of his uniform. Naginit ang ulo niya saka walang ingay na naglakad patungo sa kanila. Isa sa mga ayaw niya ang 'yong klase ng tao na hindi alam kung saan ilugar ang pagka tigasin nito.  "should i fold your body into two for you to call a f*****g doctor to look at treat my boss?" bulyaw nito sa nurse. She can see that the nurse is trembling in fear.  Gale grab the wrist of the man and twist it without any hesitation. She didn't even blink while twisting the mans arm. Her left hand is in the pocket of her lab gown. " hey! What are you? A medic? " napapa igik na sabi ng lalaki. "should i put a tag in my head saying 'i am a doctor'? She grip his wrist, twist and push. The man fell down in the ground. Sisiw lang sa kanya ang mga ganitong tagpo, she was raise in a very hard way. —all thanks to her father.  The boss ordered his man to attack her.  Mabilisan niyang binilang ang mga lalake.. Nasa anim. Mabilis niyang sinalag ang isang lumapit at aatake sa kanya." this is a place where patients get to be treated, not to make the healthy ones as patients" she tskd. "all of non patients here, tinuro niya ang sa side niya from left to right." you, you and you, get the f**k out of here! "   Inakbayan siya ng isa sa mga ito, she hold the man's arm holding her and she turn around ant fold his palm and kick him in the stomach. Alam niyang hindi siya dapat makipag laban, pero sinasagad ng mga ito ang pasensya niya.  The other guy push her but she didn't fall. She stand straight and  kicks the two guy who's attacking her.  She punch, kick and climb on the the chest of the man and spin in the air and give a kick to the other mans chest. Enough to make him fall to the ground.  She push the other man and grab his jacket and take it out from the mans body then tied it to his arm, she kick the wheel chair the other man is moving towards her and she push the man with jacket on the wheel chair.  She put her hands in her waist when she finished her business in the guys. Hinarap niya ang duguang boss.  "i don't want girls to treat me, find a man!" umiikot nag mga mata nito.  "do i look like a weak woman to you?, for me, i dont see you as a big man, you are just a patient to me" walang emosyong tugon niya dito. Nakatanga lang ito sa kanya. Well, she was raised like a warrior.  Seconds later and the boss lose consciousness.  She ordered the nurses who si still in parted mouth looking at her. Well, nice welcoming. Its her first day in the hospital for damn sake!  Ngumiti siya sa mga ito at nag utos. Ramdam niya ang pagkailang ng mga tao. "sorry, nadala lang ako" sabi niya saka yumukod at tumalilis.  Hindi nakaligtas sa kanya ang tingin ng mga ibang staff ng hospital. Actually, three years ago, naka punta na siya dito noon, she stayed at this hospital for almost two months.  As practice general doctor.  OB. Pedia. At kung saan saan lang siya nag duty noon, as part of their practice.  She came from a very dangerous family. Her father is one of the most scary person of asia. —a gangster.  She cut off herself to her family. Ayaw niyang mamuhay sa magulong mundo. Subalit nasa dugo niya ang pakikipag laban.  Martial arts. Guns and more kinds of self defense is her passing time each day in her childhood. Growing in their family as only girl is very suffocating. She has three siblings. All boys.  Her father as the big boss of an organization. A gangster. —which is protecting all the business man who is threaten by the illegal syndicate.  All in all, they are a family of good gangsters. From her father down to her brothers. They live in an war zone area. From the good to the bad.  Pumasok na siya sa operating room at inoperahan ang big boss na pasyente nila, dinala ng mga nurses doon after a finishing all the lab tests. —big boss na hindi niya alam nang kung anong klase ng gangster,  She operated well. After the operation, lumabas siya at dumiretso sa doctors room. —where they can take a rest, kompleto sa kagamitan, mula magandang kama hanggang sa isang kitchenette. The CEO —who is unknown to all of them—but not to the highest positions —made sure that the staffs are all taken care of. Which is she admire.  "i will just in the doctors room, call me if anything" bilin niya sa mga kasama niyang nag opera.  "yes doc" tumango lang ang anesthesiologist na si Genie.  Pagdating niya sa may nurse station ay napakunot noo siya ng pinagtitinginan siya doon.  Lumapit sa kanya ang sa tingin niya ay pinaka matanda sa mga ito at malapad nag ngiti. Nakapa mulsa ang dalawang kamay nito sa nurse uniform nito. "the badass doctor" sambit nito.  Napangiti siya saka kumindat. "hey, how are you Cora?" —cora is one of her buddy when she's here for two months—na hindi nawala ang communications nila nang umalis siya sa bansa. Masasabi niyang, Cora is her best friend.  Kumindat lang ito. "after three long years, you're back sweetie! I'm so happy! Pero bakit naman  pinag sisipa mo ang mga lalaking 'yon? Dinagdagan mo lng ang pasyente ditong tang' na ka!"   Tumawa lang siya saka umilag nang atakehin siya nito ng suntok. "easy, sige ka, 'pag ako napilayan, wala ng mag oopera!" panakot niya dito saka inakbayan ito at hinila sa canteen ng hospital.  The hospital is homey.  May sariling canteen sa loob na kompleto ang laman..   She ordered cookies and coffee latte.  "hindi ka pa rin nagbabago, mahilig ka pa din sa kape, pa'nong hindi palaging nawawalan ng pasens'ya e ang hilig mo sa kape!" sikmat ni Cora sa kanya.  She just chuckled and roamed around her eyes in the canteen. Doctors, nurses, bantay ng mga pasyente, students who is practicing in this hospital. It's a big and well-known hospital.  This hospital put her in good hell.  "nagkita na ba kayo?" napakunot noo siya sa tanong ng kaibigan. "nino?" balik tanong niya. Nagkibit balikat ito saka sumipsip sa straw ng iced tea nito. "you know.. Tssk. Forget it.. Wala na akong sinabi, mahirap na.. Baka mamaya, hindi na ako makapag salita dahil natahi na ang bunganga ko!" ngising sambit nito.  She knows who. But she doesn't want to talk about him. Cora knows what happened, but not all. She already forgot that day.. The day she was so broken.  Who knows, maybe he doesn't want her to enter his life anymore. Three years without communication is torture for her.  Her body is in America but her heart was here in the Philippines through out those years.  Kristine Gale's heart belongs to only one man, —but that man was inlove to onother woman. A woman who is better than her. In family background, looks and wealth. All in all—she is nothing compared to that woman.  Yeah. She is nothing. She is just doctor. A general surgeon who is preparing for the biggest surgery of her life.. —her father's.
