Lilly’s point of view
I could not stand, my legs were unable to hold the weight of my body, they had collapsed, pain, pure pain in all its intensity consumed me, loud cries escaped my mouth, the world around me was spinning, maybe this was a dream, maybe it was a nightmare, but one thing this could not be happening,
“Mam what is wrong” Jake asked again, fear in his features, then I felt arms circle me, the bolts of electricity told me who it was, I did not have to open my eyes to know, and the sobbing turned into almost a wail as years of anguish, hurt and betrayal released in the piercing screams, a vocalisation of my broken heart.
“Lilly” he breathed softly now crouched down in front of me.
