Kaden POV
Kai is chasing me through the pack house. I have his boxers in my hand, and I am waving them over my head in victory. Omegas dart out of the way as we rush past, but I notice all the she-wolves giggle at Kai's naked body.
"I swear to the Goddess I will kill you," Kai yells after me.
"You have to catch me first," I yell back.
I am glancing over my shoulder, not paying attention to where I am going. Kai is faster than me, but he is too busy trying to cover his junk to go full speed. He suddenly skids to a stop behind me, and his eyes dart around, looking for a place to hide.
I don't turn around in time and run into my mother. She stumbles back, and I reach out and grab her before she hits the ground. Pulling her to her feet, I don't miss the look of disappointment in her eyes.
"Sorry, Mom," I whisper.
She looks at Kai's boxers in my hand and then at Kai behind me. I try to hide them behind my back, but she rips them from my hands and tosses them to Kai.
Kai quickly covers himself and stands by my side. "You are in trouble now," he whispers.
"You both are in trouble," she hisses at us.
I smirk in Kai's direction, and he sticks his tongue out at me. We are too busy taunting one another to see the strike coming from our mother. She slaps us both across the face with one swift movement.
"You are the future Alphas of this pack," she reminds us. "It is time you stop playing these silly games with one another."
"Yes, Ma'am," we reply in unison.
My mother looks Kai up and down. "Why are you always naked?" She groans.
"Just comfortable with the Goddess gave me," he laughs.
I roll my eyes. I don't know if my mother knows the truth or not. Kai is making his rounds through the female Omegas in the pack house. He has slept with almost all of them, but there is one who is playing hard to get. Her name is Jessica. Being the playboy he is, Kai isn't going to give up until he adds her to his list.
She pinches the bridge of her nose and shakes her head. "Your father is bringing home another stray. He should be here within the hour. You two need to clean out the cabin at the edge of the territory."
Kai and I share a confused look. All the strays that he has brought home before stay in the guest room of the pack house until they become acclimated to the pack. "Why?" We respond together.
"This stray is different," she responds hesitantly. "She will need to be protected. Some members of the pack may not accept her."
"I don't understand," I tell my mother. "The South Pack prides itself on accepting everyone. All of the pack members know this."
"Clean up the cabin," she snaps at us. "And for Goddess's sake, put on some damn clothes."
We stay silent until our mother is fully out of view. Kai is the first to speak. "What do you think father is bringing home this time?"
"I don't know," I respond. "But Mom doesn't seem too pleased about it."
It takes about thirty minutes for me to convince Kai to put on clothes before we head to the cabin. I push the door open to the cabin, and a cloud of dust swarms in the air. I groan loudly. There is no way we can get this place clean before Dad gets back.
I get to work, dusting and cleaning the floors. Kai, on the other hand, flops down on the couch and stares at the ceiling. He tosses a pillow in the air and catches it repeatedly.
"How much longer do we have to stay here?" He asks.
"You know, this would go so much faster if you would help me," I snap at him.
"I'm good," Kai responds playfully. "Plus, why should we be concerned about some stray that Dad brings home?"
"One day, this pack will be ours," I remind Kai. "We have to carry on Dad's legacy."
"The legacy of bringing home strays?" Kai huffs. "That will be the first practice to go once we are in charge."
"Dad is proud about taking in werewolves that no one else will," I remind Kai. "It sets us apart from the rest of the packs."
"It makes us look weak," Kai growls.
The front door of the cabin creaks open, and the scent of honey fills the cabin. Kai and I share fleeting glances with one another and race toward the door. We are pushing and shoving each other out of the way, trying to get to the door first.
Kai throws me to the ground and tackles whoever is coming through the door. "Mine," he growls.
I get to my feet and see my dad struggling to get Kai off him, and I burst into laughter. Grabbing Kai by his shirt, I pull him off my dad. Kai is confused as he inhales the scent on Dad's shirt.
"Where is she?" Kai demands to know.
Dad runs his fingers through his hair, and panic fills his eyes. "She is sleeping in the car," he whispers.
Kai and I both run for the door. We are eager to see the stray that Dad has brought home. She is our mate.
"Wait," Dad commands, and we are forced to stop in our tracks. "She is human."
Kai and I share a confused look, but that doesn't stop us from wanting to see our mate. We have been waiting twenty-four years for this moment. We shove each other as we fight to get out the door.
Dad grabs us by the shoulders and pulls us backward. He growls loudly, and we submit instantly. "She isn't ready to know," he warns us. "You need to ease her into this."
"Does she know what we are?" I ask.
"She does," he responds. "But she has been through hell."
I look at Kai, and he is still eager to leave the house and see our mate. "We will move slow," he assures our dad, and he bolts from the cabin.
I am right behind him. The closer we get to Dad's car, the stronger the smell of honey gets. My mouth is watering. I don't know if I will have the restraint not to mark her as soon as I see her.
Kai and I press our faces against the passenger window of the car, trying to get a good look at our mate. She is the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. She has dark brown hair, and her lips are pushed out in a little pout.
She moans a little in her sleep, and it causes my c**k to spring to life. Kai is also adjusting the front of his pants.
"This is going to be hard," he groans.
Her eyes flutter open at the sound of Kai's voice, and I am startled by how green her eyes are. Her eyes widen, and a scream escapes from her chest. She scrambles away from the window and clutches her hand to her heart.
"Goddess, damn it," my father growls from behind us. "What part of move slowly did you not understand?"
