"Alpha Maxwell and Luna Odell will be with you in a minute." The neatly dressed servant bows and walks out of the enormous office.
"Remember to be polite Aza." My dad signs, looking at me seriously.
I nod my head, just before the huge mahogany door opened.
My dad and I quickly stood up from our seat and bow, "Alpha Maxwell, Luna Odell." Dad said in a businessman voice.
I remain mute, because that's what I'm supposed to be, deaf-mute.
I was shocked when I bring my eyes up to the Alpha and Luna, expecting to see disgust and curiosity in them like what most other Alphas and their Lunas did.
But no, instead I see only curiosity and hope?
Hope for what?
"I'm sorry my daughter, Aza is deaf, so she doesn't really know how to speak..but she does know sign language and how to read lips." My Dad said proud, not because of my disability, but my ability.
Werewolves have better and more active brains than humans. So by looking at their lips when they speak, my mind is able to process what are they trying to say, but of course, it takes time.
I smile brightly towards them both.
"I understand, take a seat and let's see how we can solve your problems." Alpha Maxwell says.
I drown out the rest of their conversation, and look around the room, trying my best to not make it obvious.
I see a small frame on the long desk. It's a picture of a younger looking Alpha Maxwell and Luna Odell with a small boy, with dark black hair smiling a toothy grin, standing in between them.
My stomach erupts in butterflies when I see the boy. Gosh Aza! He's a young boy, how could you think like that! I berate myself.
I shake my head and bring my eyes up again. This time I stare in awe at Luna Odell, even though she is only in a simple white and grey dress, and her dirty blonde hair is flowing down to her lower back, she is beautiful.
She's a very beautiful Luna and Queen, but I wonder if she is in the inside.
"Okay, I'll agree to help you, but what will you give me in return?" Alpha Maxwell asks, raising an eyebrow.
My dad looks conflicted for a moment, "Land, money, mutual alliance?" My dad says in a question-like manner.
Alpha Maxwell chuckles, "We already have many of those things, what makes you think we want more of them?"
My dad looks defeated.
Luna Odell smacks Alpha Maxwell's arm, muttering 'be polite'.
"Sorry for my rudeness." He grumbles, but sincerely, nonetheless.
My dad nods, "So, what can I offer you in turn for your help?"
For a split second, Alpha Maxwell eyes glance at me, "Your daughter."
"What? No!" My dad says flabbergasted, adding a cough at the end knowing he had stepped over the line. "Sorry."
My eyes widen, me? They want me?
I snap my gaze back to Alpha Maxwell, but Luna Odell is the one who speak.
"Not forever, just two weeks." She explains.
My dad glances his worried gaze at me, asking me if I'm fine with it.
Of course I'm not, but I think about my pack, the energetic, cute children and young couples that have yet had a pups.
I nod my head and mouth an 'okay', casting my head down.
"Okay I agree to your terms, but may I ask why?"
This has me snapping my eyes up again.
"Since we've never had a daughter of our own, we would like to experience what it's like to have one." Luna Odell said, eyes gleaming with adoration and love and something else that I cannot fathom.
Alpha Maxwell nodds in agreement, I however don't.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My dad left two hours ago, after giving me a tight hug and a kiss to the forehead, saying that he will see me again in two weeks.
I'm now sitting inside a huge room, painted beige and dark green, looking outside the window.
A knock sounded at the door, I was about to shout 'Come in!', when I remember I'm supposed to be deaf-mute.
So instead I walk over to the door and open it myself.
A girl about my age smiles politely at me, "Here are some clothes Luna Odell has requested me to bring to you." She pauses, "Oh, and dinner is at seven, please dress nicely."
With that she passes the stack of clothes to me. To my surprise, after I accepted the stack, there's a few more behind her.
She clearly saw the amusement in my eyes as she said, "Sorry, Luna Odell tends to go overboard with these types of things."
Smiling, I chuckle and accept the dresses, skirts, tops, pants, cardigans and much more. I spent hours arranging the beautiful clothing into the walk-in closet. Afterwards, I plopped down on the fluffy four poster bed, moaning satisfaction at the comfort it provide.
Rolling my body to the edge of the bed, I look at the digital clock on the bedside table.
6:29pm. Thirty-one more minutes till dinner.
I bring my legs in towards my chest and push them out forcefully, causing me to spring forward. I take a look over the dress and feel that it just isn't right, so I cast my gaze towards the tops section.
After fifteen minutes, I settle on a grey sweater and skinny jeans, that fit perfectly.
After making sure my hair doesn't look like a bird's nest and my face is all freshened up, I just apply my lip balm that I brought with me and walk out with five minutes to spare.
I stop in my tracks, realizing that I don't know the way to the dining room. I turn my head back and forth, and see no one.
I sigh and think, great, I'm lost.
I wander around, hoping that miraculously I would be able to find the dining room. To my luck, I smelt the aroma of food wavering from across the hall. I heighten my senses and follow the delicious scent of food.
When I turned a corner, I had bumped onto someone or something, due to my eyes being closed. Opening my eyes, I rub my forehead and realize that, I had indeed bumped into a wall.
I sigh, clearly able see the dining room now. When I was about to take a step down the spiral stairs, a scent of rain and apple takes over my senses.
Food couldn't smell this good could it?
Tingles spread all over my body and I can't help but to shiver. I jump when I felt arms wrap around my waist, the tingles only intensified.
Mate mate! My wolf Zinters, or Zin, yells happily.
I turn around and come face to face with a guy with black hair. Waves of authority oozes out of him, I wonder who he is, a Beta?
"So what's your name?" He asks, in a monotone voice that sends shivers down my spine.
My heart drops at his lack of interest but at the same time mouthing, 'Aza'
"What are you mute?" He questions, rather rudely.
This got anger rushing though my veins, I smack his muscular arms off of me. Turning my head away from his handsome face, I walk towards where Alpha Maxwell and Luna Odell are.
Zin whines, I understand your mad Aza, but remember, he's your mate.
Her voice echoes through my mind.
"Let me guess, you got lost?" Alpha Maxwell states, breaking me out of my trance.
I nod my head, smiling sheepishly as I took a seat beside Luna Odell.
"Mum, Dad, I've found my mate." The voice that causes the curl of my toes spoke with the same indifferent tone.
And that had me agitated, how could he remain so calm?
Their eyes bore into mine, silence blankets over us until Luna Odell spoke.
"I knew it!" She chirps, clapping her hands happily. I tilted my head to the side looking at her weirdly, she knew it all along?
But something in her voice seems off. Maybe, I'm just thinking too much. Yeah, that's got to be it.
"It's nothing Aza, just instinct." Alpha Maxwell clarifies.
"Stop lying to her." My mate says, sitting beside his father.
"Lexington..." Luna Odell warns, her face changing from joyful to seriousness.
"What? It's just not right, she will know sooner or later so why not now?" Lex argues, picking up his fork.
Did I just gave him a nickname? No, I didn't it's just a shorter version of it..yeah.
At times like this, I hate being deaf-mute because there is so many questions buzzing around my mind, and I can only talk to myself.
You're talking to me, too.
Shut up Zinters.
Alpha Maxwell sighs, turning his attention towards me, and looks at me straight in the eye with those electric blue eyes.
Fear paralyzes me for a moment, but I push them down and look at him with the same intensity.
I want answers and I want them now.
His eyes shine with pride and hope at my actions.
"Aza, you can stop pretending now. We know your not deaf, not anymore, at least." He tells me.
