 “You mean, we’re going to transform together?” Lizzie asked, her eyes wide.   Her mother nodded and said, “That way, I can help you with anything you don’t understand.”  “Oh, there’s a lot I don’t understand right now,” Lizzie said, giggling with a note of hysteria in her voice.   Her mother wrapped her arm around her daughter’s shoulders and pulled her close, kissing the top of her head.   “I know it’s a lot to take in,” she said softly. “After all, it’s not like you were brought up in that world as I was.”  Lizzie shook her head.   Lifting it, she asked, “Are your parents still alive?
