 “You want to go to a movie?” Lizzie asked, her eyes wide. “With me?”  Luke nodded, but before Lizzie could give her answer, the bell rang.   “Later?” she asked in a low voice, a pleading look on her face.  He nodded again.   She paid little attention in class as her focus was on what Luke had asked her. Whenever the teacher called on her for an answer, it was wrong.  Thankful when the bell rang, she was also filled with dread.   “Can I walk with you to French class?” Luke asked as they gathered their backpacks.  “Sure,” she said, smiling at him.   As they walked, they were silent until they were almost to the classroom.   “I get the feeling I’ve made you uncomfortable,” Luke said, a wry smile on his lips.  Lizzie shook her head and told him, “It’s not that.
