Henrik's confession

1005 Words
Scared and uncertain, Silvia found herself wandering the palace gardens the next day, her mind still reeling from the events of the previous night. As she struggled to gather her courage to face Gerald, she was unexpectedly approached by Henrik in the east garden. "Silvia, I've been looking for you," Henrik greeted her. Surprised, Silvia managed a weak smile. "I didn't realize you had returned," she replied. "I missed our conversations while I was away. You're someone I trust," Henrik confessed. Silvia remained silent, unsure of how to respond. "I... I need to tell you something," Henrik continued, his tone earnest. "I know it's wrong, but I've developed feelings for you." "What?" Silvia's eyes widened in disbelief. "I can't seem to get you out of my mind. I admire your intelligence and independence, qualities I don't often see in others," Henrik explained, his gaze fixed on her. "Henrik, I'm married to Gerald," Silvia reminded him gently. "I know, but he hasn't treated you as a wife should be treated. You deserve love and respect, and I can offer you that," Henrik insisted, taking her hands in his. He leaned in closer, his voice barely above a whisper. "You know, Silvia, you don't carry Gerald's mark like a lycan should leave on his women." Silvia's eyes widened in surprise, realizing the implications of Henrik's words. It was a stark revelation that Gerald had shown no interest in her as a lycan mate would typically do. Henrik continued, his tone filled with concern. "It's clear he sees you as nothing more than a servant, not as a partner or equal. You deserve better, Silvia." Silvia was speechless, overwhelmed by Henrik's confession. Before she could gather her thoughts, she excused herself and hurried back to her room, seeking refuge from the tumult of emotions that threatened to engulf her. Silvia's mind raced as she processed Henrik's words, a mixture of confusion and realization washing over her. She had suspected Gerald's indifference towards her, but hearing it confirmed by Henrik only intensified her feelings of uncertainty and doubt about her marriage. She was just a plaything in Gerald's hand and now that she became sure of it, she felt she also had a soft corner for Henrik. Despite Silvia's attempts to keep her distance from Henrik, his earlier confession lingered in her thoughts. She kept comparing the twins and everytime she felt more attracted towards Henrik. For two days, she kept hiding from Henrik but during the annual dinner, she could not hide more from him. That night, during a palace dinner, she observed Henrik's effortless charm and popularity among the guests, a sharp contrast to the tension she felt whenever Gerald was nearby. His eyes kept lingering towards her and Silvia felt stuck sitting beside Gerald. As the dinner ended, all the guests spread around forming groups and having conversations. Seeking solace, Silvia retreated to the balcony, hoping for a moment of peace amidst the turmoil within her. But Henrik's unexpected presence shattered her fragile tranquility as he followed her outside. "Why are you avoiding me?" Henrik's voice cut through the silence, his tone filled with a mix of confusion and concern. Silvia turned to face him, feeling torn between her loyalty to Gerald and the burgeoning emotions she harbored for Henrik. The sight of Gerald mingling with the guests inside the hall only added to her internal struggle. "Henrik, it's not that simple," Silvia began, her voice wavering with uncertainty. "There are things you don't understand." "Then help me understand," Henrik pleaded, his eyes searching hers for answers. Silvia hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "It's just... complicated," she finally admitted, avoiding his gaze. "But it doesn't have to be," Henrik insisted, taking a step closer to her. "We could be happy together, Silvia. You and me." Silvia's heart ached at the sincerity in his voice, the longing in his eyes mirroring her own conflicted emotions. "I want to believe that," she admitted softly, "but there are things you don't know about me, about Gerald..." Henrik reached out to touch her hand, his touch gentle yet insistent. "I don't care about Gerald," he declared. "All I care about is you." Silvia felt a rush of conflicting emotions coursing through her veins. Part of her wanted to believe him, to surrender to the warmth of his embrace and forget about the world outside. But another part of her knew that things were far more complicated than they seemed. Summoning her courage, Silvia began to confess the truth to Henrik, believing that he would be her savior in this tangled web of deceit and betrayal. "Henrik, there's something you need to know," she started, her voice trembling with emotion. "Tell me, do you like me or not. If your answer is no then I will leave you forever but if you want to be with me, I will fight the world for you." He held her hand and pulled her in a hug who instantly melted in his arms. She was never embraced like this by anyone. In a second, she made up her mind. She knew Henrik could help her getting free from Gerald's prison. "Henrik, I need to tell you something." "What is it?" Henrik didn't break the hug. "I... Gerald... he also told me to seduce you." "What?" He pulled away from her. "I'm sorry. I was scared of him. But...” "I don't understand..." Henrik shook his head. She decided to tell Henrik the truth. She believed he was going to help her and forgive her. "I started liking..." Before she could voice her conflicted feelings, Henrik's expression darkened with frustration and anger. In a moment of impulse, he lashed out, his hand connecting with Silvia's cheek in a sharp slap. Stunned and hurt, Silvia recoiled, her hand flying to her stinging cheek as tears welled in her eyes. In that painful moment, she realized the depth of the turmoil surrounding her, unsure of whom to trust and where her loyalties truly lay. .....
