Chapter 7

1387 Words
Never, marry under pressure or for money. Marriage isn't what you think it is. Marriage is a course and not a game, you can either take it well or have it bad. When you want to get married, which I know I won't be there since I have lost so much blood already, marry for love, Brie. My mom's words ring in my ears as I stare at my reflection in the mirror. The mirror reflects a beautiful bride, who will be getting married to the richest man in Italy. "Mom, I'm sorry I couldn't keep the promise of marrying for love, but at least. I'm keeping my promise of saving father. I hope you understand Mama." I say to the pendant my mom left for me. Laura walks into the room all dressed up. I have always hated wedding gowns with tails and I am glad. The ruthless asshole who introduced me to s*x life and punishes me agreed on me not having a tail to my wedding dress. "Were you being emotional? Oh no, don't be. I know the feeling. You remember when my cousin was getting married, right? You remember don't you? She was nervous as hell. Drink a cup of water, it helps nervousness most times." She gushes as she speaks. "Laura..., I'm not nervous. I'm not sure if I want to get married anymore." I mumble more to myself. "What?! You two are marrying because he felt attracted to you and the feeling is absolutely mutual." She says and I shake my head in pity. If only she knows... "Right." I say quietly. "Now, stand up and step into this silver stilettos. It's cool to marry a rich man. I have never imagined touching a pure silver stiletto. You won't forget me once you are married." "I can't forget. Why are you so excited? Even I myself isn't as excited as you." I say, tugging on the stilettos. "Why shouldn't I? It was always hard to convince you to date. I know your dad is a major priority to you, but..." "Laura, my dad has been in a vegetative state for six years, what are you talking about? Dating isn't on my list." I say, cutting her off. "Of course! It can't be, you're getting married now and I'm sure your billionaire husband won't appreciate any other man." She says sticking her forefinger to her cheek. "Yeah..." I say, just as the oldest housekeeper knocks the door. "Madam, you have to come out now. The limo is here and it's thirty minutes to your grand entrance." She says with a bow. "Ma'am, I have told you so many times to call me Gabriella." I say and she shakes her head. "But...sir..." "Then you can at least not bow as you talk?" I say and she bows again, earning an eye roll from me. "Gabi, lady housekeeper." Laura says and I face palm myself. "Lady housekeeper?" I mouth to her as I raise my brows. "Um.. sorry, I meant ma'am..." She tries to correct herself and I roll my eyes again, making the housekeeper chuckle. "It's okay. Get ready, the time is far spent. The guests are waiting." The housekeeper says with a small smile. This wedding wasn't meant to be elaborate, but all because of his popularity. Almost everyone is coming, most people to see the woman who can break the ruthless to love and more to see the unpopular actress who manipulated her boss to get married to her. That's what they said... The door of the limo is opened for me and I sit right in with Laura at my side. As soon as the door of the limo is closed, Laura starts to speak again. "Can someone remind me of how you became my bestfriend?" I ask and she blushes. *** "Are you ready?" The priest whispers to us, as we are both standing in front of him. "Yes, priest." Leonardo replies. "Do you, Gabriella Amonte, take Leonardo Rucci as your husband and promise to be faithful to him always,  in joy and in pain, in health and in sickness,  and to love him and every day honour him for the rest of your life?" The priest asks and thoughts begin to run through my heart. The rest of my life? Or for the six months this contract is to last? Stupid! You are in front of the priest and the contract is a secret to the crowd ~ My inner mind scolds. "I Do." I say and the crowd sighs in relief, while some murmur. "Do you, Leonardo Rucci, take Gabriella Amonte as your wife and promise to be faithful to her always,  in joy and in pain, in health and in sickness,  and to love her and every day honour her, for the rest of your life?" The priest asks. "I do." He replies immediately and there's a round of applause from the crowd. "You may now kiss your bride." The priest says. He steps closer to me, wrap his hand around my waist and bend his tall self to my height to kiss my lips. The moment his lips capture mine, my heartbeat becomes faster and then he pulls away, leaving the air to blow my slightly parted lips. The feeling of his lips against mine, was different from the kisses we have shared before. This was too soft and those were rough. My heart is still beating and I'm feeling my legs move, but I can't even concentrate on where I am headed. What is it with all this crazy thoughts? Have you forgotten you aren't married for love? You can't love him. ~ My inner mind scolds me again. "What are thinking of? Smile." Leonardo whispers in my ear and I smile, finally taking in my environment. What?! When did I even walk away from the presence of the priest? How can you know?  When you were busy drooling like a lovesick teenager. ~ My inner mind says with a tut sound after. "He hid you so well, I can't believe he would actually get married." A man says to me as soon as, Leo walks to meet other guests. "Um..." I'm lost for words, but I give my best by smiling. "You are actually very beautiful, I'm James, Leo's business partner. I own James enterprise." He says, stretching his hand out for a handshake and just when I am about to shake his hand, Leonardo comes and wrap his hand around my waist. "She's been standing on this stilettos for long, James. You are not planning on taking her from me, are you?" He says, grabbing a glass from one the waiters. "If you don't take proper care of her." He replies with a smirk and I tense in Leo's hold. "I need to find the bathroom." I say to Leonardo, who raises his brows before nodding. The bathroom seems hard to find and I don't need it anyway, I just needed an excuse to move away from the both of them. "You are Gabriella?" A woman dressed in a white bandage dress, with her cleavage exposed says to me. "Who are you?" I ask and she folds her arms. "Should I say my name or who I am to your husband? He will get bored with you. You can't satisfy him, you look like a prude, despite the fact that you're dressed in luxury. A pupa placed to sleep on a bed for the first time, will end up rolling off and sleeping on the floor." She says and I feel my blood boiling in my veins. "He is now my husband. You are talking out of jealousy. If you could satisfy him, why didn't he get married to you?" I ask and I can see her eyes twitch. "I know there's something fishy behind this emergency marriage and I will find out!" She snaps and walk off, leaving an angry me standing. "Why didn't you return after using the bathroom?" He asks and I want to snap at him, but I refrain myself. I'm angry at myself, because I don't know why I'm angry. I don't even know why I defended myself earlier with that b***h. Is it possible for me fall in love with this ruthless billionaire in a week?
