The rest of the day went by a little unusual. I could feel eyes boring holes through my back the entire day: sometimes they belonged to Stefan, Catherine or Warren, but mostly to Axel. I had no idea what I had done to catch their attention, but I guessed it was due to my stupidity of making eye contact with Axel at lunch. I tried my best to ignore them, but things often got a little awkward and I felt uneasy and uncomfortable under their intense gazes. Especially under Axel's. It just felt like he'd be scrutinizing my every move, and I felt extremely self-conscious when he looked at me. Plus, for some reason his eyes held so much intent and so many emotions (most of which I couldn't even begin to comprehend) that it made me feel weak on the inside.
After school ended I booked an Uber and went home. Nothing of substance happened throughout the day, and I spent my time reading, doing my homework, texting and skyping with either mom or Arthur. I really missed the two of them and I just wanted school to end as fast as it could so I could go back into their arms. Very soon, it was dark outside and the silver moon and stars were shining in the dark sky.
I wasted a few hours watching Netflix and then finally got ready for bed, following my usual routine of taking a shower, brushing my teeth etcetera. I had just finished brushing my hair when I received a text on my phone from an unknown number.
Unknown
Hey Scarlett. Catherine here. I go to your school, and saw you at lunch today so I just wanted to welcome you to Beckley High. If you ever need anything, feel free to ask me. :)
Okay, that's weird.
Me
Hey Catherine. Thanks a lot. I'll be sure to do that. :)
Within a few minutes my phone vibrated with a message.
Catherine
Oh and I was hoping you'd sit with us at lunch tomorrow. I could brief you about everything you need to know to survive in Beckley High. If you like, that is. :)
Me
That's really sweet of you Catherine. Thanks. But Addison and Aubrey already told me everything I needed to know, so I'll just be hanging with them. :) :)
I sent the message hoping it didn't sound rude. The last thing I wanted was to get on her bad side. As nice as she seemed, she was quite intimidating and I didn't want to be bullied by her boyfriend.
Catherine
Oh okay. See ya around, I guess. :)
I replied to her text with a smiley face and thankfully she didn't text me further. Plugging my phone in for charging, I quickly went to bed.

"Catherine texted you?" Addison asked in disbelief.
"Yep. I'm shook too." I replied, stuffing my stuff inside my locker.
"How did she even get your number?" Addison asked, more to herself.
"Um, that would be my doing," Aubrey said with a sheepish smile, walking over to us.
"You gave her Scarlett's number?" Addison asked, clearly shocked.
"Yeah, she came up to me after school ended, with Stefan. Asked me for it really sweetly so I didn't see any harm in giving it to her. I hope you didn't mind, Scar." Aubrey said, looking apologetic.
"Nah nah, it's fine. There's nothing wrong in passing on numbers," I smiled, hoping to relax her, and succeeded.
"So she asked you to sit with them?" Aubrey asked just as I closed my locker. I turned around and leaned against it, nodding.
"She said she'd brief me about everything I needed to know in order to survive in Beckley High," I told them, air-quoting the word 'survive'.
"Wow, you are one lucky bitch." Addison chuckled. "You've been here two days and already got invited to sit with the popular people. I hope you won't forget us," Addison said, her eyes filled with amusement. Aubrey and I laughed, and she joined in.
We were busy chatting when a loud noise broke through the hallway, catching everyone's attention. We snapped our heads in the direction of the sound and saw a brunette girl on the floor. Her books were all scattered on the ground, along with her large, round glasses. Two guys were looking down at her, evil smirks across their faces.
"Watch where you're going, nerd." One of them spat and kicked her glasses away from her as the other laughed. I looked over at the other students around us, some were looking at her with pity, but not doing anything to stop what was happening, some were laughing at her while others were just uninterested, as if they saw the same thing happening every-day and had got used to it.
"Is that Kylie?" I asked, my voice filled with worry.
"Yep, poor girl." Aubrey replied, looking at her with pity and Addison mirrored her expression.
"Why is no one doing anything?" I said in annoyance, as the guys continued to bully the poor soul, kicking away and tearing her books.
"It's no use. If you stop them, you become their victims," Addison told me, but that wasn't going to scare me.
I handed over my books to Aubrey and started walking over to Kylie. Addison tried to stop me but I didn't listen.
I crouched down beside Kylie and picked up her glasses, handing them to her. She gladly took them and put them on after wiping her tears away.
"Thank you," she whispered with gratitude as I started collecting her books for her.
"The new girl comes to the rescue," one of the bullies smirked, his attention now directed to me. I ignored him and and continued to help Kylie. The bell rang and all the students hurried away to their classes, including Addison as she had a test in the first period, leaving only Aubrey, the bullies, Kylie and me in the corridor. I noticed how the bullies' smirks widened at this and they now started walking towards us, just as I handed Kylie's last books to her.
"Thank you so much." She smiled. "I'm sorry but I've to go, I have a test," she said and I nodded with a smile. She quickly ran away from the scene before the bullies would get the chance to block her way and stop her. I too stood up, and walked towards Aubrey, but one of the guys came and stood in my way, giving me a fake, sickening smile.
"Where do you think you're going?" The guy, whose name was Andrew I think, mocked.
"To class," I replied trying to walk around him, but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back, pushing me against the lockers. "What the hell?!"
"Get away from her!" Aubrey yelled and ran towards us, but the other guy blocked her way, knocking all the books out of her hands.
"Let me go." I stated, trying to push Andrew away, but he was too strong.
"Now why would I do that?" he smirked, placing his hands on the lockers, on either side of me.
"What do you want?" I snapped, glaring at him.
"I don't know, what can you give me?" He whispered, leaning in so his face was only slightly away from mine.
I tried my best to push him away but he was too strong for me.
"I said get away from her!" Aubrey yelled trying to run towards me, but the other guy caught hold of her arm and twisted it behind her back, as she yelped in pain.
Andrew on the other hand now caught hold of my wrists.
"What the hell are you doing?" I hissed, my eyes widened as my heart now started to bang against my chest.
"Shh... " he shushed, as he tapped his finger on my nose. "You're so beautiful, Scarlett. Or I'd have beat you up for interrupting my fun. But I couldn't possibly punish you that way, that would spoil your oh so pretty face." He said, his voice low and his face dangerously close to mine.
I opened my mouth and screamed for help but he quickly covered it with his hand, muffling my screams. Tears pricked my vision as he buried his face into the crook of my neck. I tried hard to scream, and so did Aubrey, but she too was being hand gagged by the other guy.
Tears fell down my face, as I felt myself being violated, my eyes tightly closed.
