Chapter 2: My saviour

At Chicago Airport:

‘’Is it really important to go alone?’’ Harry asks, holding her hand. He is letting her go. He doesn’t want to spend a single moment without her, but since she is so eager to attend her friend’s wedding, he agrees unwillingly.

‘’Harry, don’t be upset. I will be in touch with you.’’ Caroline patted his cheeks before the announcement happened.

‘’I don’t feel like leaving you sweetheart..’’ He held her hand in his tight hold and pulled her back. She gets uncomfortable and looks away nervously.

‘’I am not running away. Harry. Let me go. Everyone is watching’’

‘’I won’t. You are my addiction, Caro..I want you..’’ When she glanced at him surprisingly, he covered up and left her.

‘’My best friend, Ana, asked many times. How could I deny them? Ana is very close to me. She was feeling guilty that she might not be able to attend our wedding. However, she wanted to meet me before she went on her honeymoon. After that moment, I didn’t know when we would get a chance to meet. I will come back as soon as her wedding gets over.’’

‘’Okay fine."

‘’Thanks for understanding.’’ While she began chattering.

‘’You know we studied together during our graduation in New York. Later, Dad shifted to Chicago. So, we lost contact. But I am happy she got her perfect life partner she dreamed of.’’

‘’So you are..’’ Her smile instantly faded.

‘’What happened? Don't you get the man of your dreams?’’ Harry asked.

‘’I am getting late..’’ She told him to leave but he stayed there till she boarded the flight.

‘’I wish I would also join you. If my project was not important, I would have come along with you..’’ Harry sighed in disappointment.

‘’It’s okay. I will manage. I am not a kid Harry, and I will get lost among the crowd.’’ replied Caroline.

‘’You are very precious to me.’’

After some time, she left for boarding but he is still standing at the same spot waving to her. She waves him back and begins walking away. Her mind is not at peace.

‘’I am so lucky to get him. He is so caring and lovable. Then what is stopping me? Why did I feel uncomfortable whenever he tried to get close to me? Why don't I feel any connection when he is around? What is wrong with me? Why am I not developing feelings for him? He is my fiance. Soon we are getting married. You will feel butterflies thinking about him. Stop it, Caroline. You are overthinking. No-one would ever love you the way he does. He is a perfect gentleman. Love him Caro. Just love him the way he does.’’ She forces her heart to accept a man, totally oblivious to her life going to change after that moment.

Caroline reached New York and rang Ana.

‘’Damn. My phone battery is also dead now. How will I contact her? I don't even know her exact location’’. Caroline didn't know what to do. It clicked to her that she might be busy at the pre-wedding ceremony.

‘’Harry was right. I shouldn't come alone.’’ She stares at the people standing in a corner. Although she had completed her studies in New York, except Ana, she didn't know anyone in that city.

After some time, a voice came from behind. I stopped for a moment and then turned and looked at the stranger approaching her.

‘’Are you Ana’s friend, Caroline?’’

‘’Yes. how do you know my name?’’

‘’I am her brother, Jack. Nice to meet you, beautiful lady'. He smirked, giving her a dirty look while scanning his eyes all over her.

Caroline felt uncomfortable and adjusted her scarf and inch back.

Jack is Ana’s step-brother. Ana’s parents, Mr Smith, adopted him when he was 4 years old. As he was the only son of the family, his parents gave him all the freedom and let him do whatever he wanted. Due to this, he becomes a spoiled brat. At 14 years old, he got addicted to drugs. Later, he tries to flirt and molest girls. Whenever he sees a girl, he never leaves a chance to get her on his bed.

''She is so hot. For the first time, Ana did good for me by bringing a hot item for me. It's going to be a lot of fun in your marriage, my darling sister.’’ He thought in his mind and smiled inwardly, gazing at her milky white skin lustfully.

Caroline got very scared by the way he kept his eyes fixed on her. She looked around, not having any idea what to do.

‘’I should have listened to Harry.’’ She adjusts her exposed skin from his dirty gaze. She is not sure whether she should go with him or not. But does she have any option? She doesn't know anyone here nor does she have her friend's address.

''Hey, why are you sweating? Come with me. Your friend rang me 5 times. Ana is dying to meet you.’’ With that, Jack held her hand. Caroline is taken aback by his sudden advances.

She tries to jerk his hand but his hold is tight and hard. She struggled more and sobbed silently and began to look around for help.

''Let me go...I want t-'' Her words were cut by a deep hoarse voice that suddenly appeared. The gust of wind blew and she felt her heartbeat racing up all of a sudden.

Caroline looked behind tearfully. She carried her gaze to view the man who came as a saviour. Their eyes met momentarily and then everything stopped for a while.

He is none other than Austin Miller. He is Ana’s brother-in-law by relationship. But for Ana, he is more than her brother. Ana’s marriage is fixed in the Miller family with Austin’s younger brother, Alex Miller. Ana and Alex have known each other since their college days. Slowly, their friendship turns into love. For further studies, she left New York. After the completion of graduation, they both settled down and decided to marry. One would say if their marriage was taking place today, then the entire credit goes only to Austin. He is the one who convinced both the families about their alliance. Being an elder son, Miller's family wanted him to marry first and settle down, but he had no interest in marrying anytime soon.

‘’What the hell are you trying to do, Jack? Leave her hand.’’ It is more like a command.

‘’Mind your own business.’’ Jack pushed him as he came forward.

’’Is this a way to treat the guest? Leave her’’ Austin almost yelled, freeing her hand and pushing him when he was not ready to cooperate. This angered Jack. He felt insulted.

Ana considers Austin more than her real brother. That's the main reason Jack dislikes Austin, as everyone, including his own family, gives him more importance than required. This literally pissed him off.

Jack gave a side glare to Caroline and thought.''Don't worry babes. This time he saved you, but how long? I grab what I want. Very soon you will warm my bed'' With that he leaves, but not before shooting a deadly glare at Austin, who always comes to his path and spoils his mood.

Once he left, Caroline made a sign of relief. But her body was still shaking with fear. She is sobbing hard.

As soon as she saw him stepping toward her, she moved backwards.

‘’Are you fine?’’ He made her sit in a corner and extended his handkerchief. Caroline said nothing, just stared at his attractive brown eyes. His kind gesture touched her heart. She felt light talking to him. For the first time, it happened that she felt protective around any stranger.

‘’Thank..y..you..’’ She replied after a long pause. It took her awhile to calm down. Austin gives her a water bottle, which she gladly accepts. Usually she doesn't like talking with strangers, but with him, it’s something strange and different.

‘’Do you need anything?’’ Austin asked once he was assured she was fine. She shakes her head in no.

"I am extremely sorry for his misbehaviour. Actually, he is only like that. Ana knows about her brother's nature. Whenever he sees any new girl, he starts flirting. That’s why she wanted me to safely pick you up at her house."

"Who are you to her? I mean, how do you know Ana?"

"Opps.. We had been talking for a long time and look I didn’t introduce myself to my sister’s best friend. (pause) My name is Au...

Before he speaks further, his phone starts ringing.

‘’Yeah I am coming, my dear. Just chill my little Bee. To bring your dearest friend to you is my responsibility. Of Course Bee.’’

With whom is he talking and who is Bee? Is he talking to Ana? Might be. The way he is friendly, it feels they share a close relationship with her. She came out of her thought process when he cleared his throat.

‘’Hmm, so should we leave? Your friend is waiting for your arrival eagerly.’’ Austin exclaimed. She nodded and they drove off.

After travelling on a one-hour journey, the car reached the front of Midtown Manhattan Hotel- one of the best hotels in New York. Caroline gets puzzled and gives him a questioning glare after moving out of his vehicle.

‘’Why are we here..Aren’t we going to Ana’s home? She told me about a wedding event taking place at her Farmhouse.’’ Caroline asked, confused.

‘’ Certain changes happened on time. Ana’s in-laws wanted this wedding to occur here.’’

But Austin doesn’t tell her he is the owner of this hotel and Ana is his sister-in-law. After getting freshened up, Caroline went out of her hotel room and arrived at the venue where a grand function was going on. Ana was applying Henna in her hands. Upon meeting her childhood friend after years, Ana couldn’t control her happiness. For a moment, she forgot where she was. Getting over-excited, she left everything and ran to hug her. Everyone who is present gets perplexed.

‘’Is it really you Caro? Oh my god. I don't believe this. You came at my request. Thank you so much sweetheart.’’ Ana hugged her tight, forgetting about her henna-filled palm while Caroline prevented it getting ruined. ‘’you haven’t changed a bit. I'm sorry, yaar, I'm so busy with preparation that I didn't get time to come to your engagement. So tell me how is my cool jiju? When are you bringing him to New York?’’

‘’Shut up, Ana..’’ She gets embarrassed by her teasing in front of everyone.

Austin gets bewildered by learning about her engagement. He didn't know why but he felt bad getting this news. The reason is unknown.

‘’Thank you. Thank you so so much..You have no idea how happy I am meeting you. I wish Jiju would also come with you..’’

‘’He wanted to come but due to some urgent work he stayed back..’’ After meeting Mr and Mrs Steve, both resume talking, reliving old memories of those golden days of college. They had a lot of fun together.

With Ana’s insistence, Caroline also applied mehendi in her hand.

While Jack is standing a few distances, he smirks evilly with his eyes roaming at her beauty. He removed his cellphone and rang one of the gang members.

‘’Hey dude. One beauty is in front of me. So be ready for our treat tonight.’’ Saying this, he hung up the call and started to imagine her body without clothes.

‘’Baby be ready to get f****d by me. We will have a lot of fun’’ With that, he gives the flying kiss.

Austin, who listens to his conversation, fumes in anger. ‘’You bastard. How dare you..’’ He seethed with anger.

Soon night came. All were getting ready in their room. All the time, Caroline is in Ana's room and helping her to get ready.

"Caro, I think you should also get ready soon... I'm almost done. Within half an hour your juju will also arrive. I want my friend to be with me all the time."

Caroline listens to this and starts teasing her and Ana blushes at her continuous teasing.

After making her ready, she leaves from there and goes to her room to get ready. Jack saw her leaving Ana's room and smirked.

With that, his four friends came and said, ''Now it's time to make our plan get into action. Are you guys ready?" All nodded.

Here in Caroline's room, she was talking with Harry and telling him that she had reached the wedding function safely and now getting ready. She was wearing a beautiful Indian dress, ghagra choli and applying make-up when suddenly someone knocked at the door.

"Yes?"

Person, replied at the other end. "Madam room service"

When she unlocked the door, Jack and his gang came and locked the door immediately to her room from inside.

Caroline got highly afraid of seeing them and started shivering.

Caro in a trembling voice, "Jack.. what are you going and who are they?"

"Nothing babes... I'm come here to entertain you. With that, he inhaled drugs and started coming closer to her and pulling her Ghangra upper Pallu that covers her upper portion harshly.

"Stop it, please. What are you doing? Leave me. Ana is waiting for me." She pleaded and cried more and more.

But no one was there to listen to her.

One goon came from behind and held both her hands tightly. She started struggling and tried to shout for help, but another goon came and kept her mouth shut by tying her mouth with her dupatta so that no one could hear her plead.

Caroline was feeling helpless, her eyes swollen due to continuous crying. "Jesus, please save me..save me..Is there no-one who can protect me from these monsters?"

All are addicted due to the dose of drugs along with Jack.

Jack pushed her, causing her to drop into bed. Coming on top of her, one of them started kissing her neck and one goon pulled her neck forward in order to kiss her mouth. A sudden bang on the door panics them and they get frustrated. Caroline is so scared that she is in the same position and not moving an inch due to shivering.

A frustrated goon asks, "Who came at this time? You told us that everyone was busy at a wedding and no one dared to come and disturb us."

Jack replied, getting up from her, "I know who is there. It's certainly Austin..my sister's so-called brother in-law..he always interferes in my matters, but today I won't spare him."

Suddenly, a voice came from outside.

"I know, Jack, you are inside. Quickly open the door, otherwise I won't let your sister's marriage happen. You know I can do this.. So if you don't want this to happen, quickly open the door. He worn. When they didn't open it, he started banging on the door harshly.

Agitated, Jack ran a frustrated hand through his hair and inhaled some more packets of drug, "I don't care about her.. After all, she is not my real sister...do what you want"

"You are not in your senses and don't know what you are saying and doing currently."

"Okay as you wish." With that, he breaks the door and comes inside and gets shocked at seeing the girl's condition. "What you did with her?" With gritted teeth.

"Why do you always interfere in my matters? Get out." He said after pushing him against his chest.

Today you have crossed the limits and now what will I do? You will regret your whole life.
