Seeing Star’s reaction to my answer nearly gutted me. I knew that I had to be honest with her. She has pain behind those eyes that she tries to hide. She thinks she has to protect herself from everyone, but I would never hurt her. I would kill anyone who did.
Listening to Alex and Alice go back and forth, it's easy to see they love her. And they're right. I need to explain before she jumps to conclusions and we lose our chance. The dirty look I'm getting from Tony says I better fix this fast.
I stand to find her, knowing Tony is right behind me. When I enter the kitchen, she is standing looking out the window, her back immediately tense. I guess I'm going to see Lightning now instead of my Star.
