The Hidden Glade

492 Words
The first light of dawn crept through the trees, casting long, thin shadows across the forest floor.Leo and Princess Lia had walked for hours, the silence between them occasionally broken by the rustle of leaves or the distant call of a bird. The forest seemed to be waking up around them, and with it,a sense of urgency filled Leo's heart. "Not much further,"Leo reassured Lia,his voice soft yet confident. He had been leading her through the forest with a sense of purpose, his steps sure and swift despite the lack of a clear path. Lia followed closely, her trust in him growing with each step. She was dressed in a simple gown, her royal garments left behind in her flight from the castle. Her hair was loose, tumbling in golden waves down her back, and her eyes were fixed on Leo's back, watching the way his muscles moved beneath his torn shirt as he navigated the terrain. They came to a river, its waters rushing over smooth stones, the sound like music to their ears after the silence of the night.Leo helped Lia across, his hands strong and steady on her waist as she balanced on the slippery rocks. The contact was brief, but it left a lingering warmth that Lia felt even after they continued on their way. On the other side of the river, the forest opened up into a hidden glade,a place where the sun's rays filtered through the canopy, casting a dappled light on the lush grass below. The air was filled with the scent of wildflowers, and the buzz of bees was a comforting reminder of the world's ongoing cycle. "This is a place of power,"Leo said, his voice hushed with reverence."It's where my pack and I perform our rituals." Lia looked around, her eyes wide with wonder."It's beautiful,"she whispered, her voice filled with awe. They sat down on a fallen log,the sun warming their skin as they rested.Leo's eyes scanned the glade, his senses alert for any signs of danger, while Lia's gaze was drawn to the flowers, their vibrant colors a stark contrast to the greens and browns of the forest. "Tell me about your pack,"Lia asked, her curiosity piqued."What are they like?" Leo paused, collecting his thoughts."We're a family, bound by more than just blood. We have our differences, but we stand together, especially during the full moon." As they talked, the sun climbed higher, the glade becoming a haven of peace and safety.Lia felt a sense of belonging she hadn't experienced since leaving the castle. She found herself opening up to Leo,sharing her dreams and fears, and listening as he did the same. In the midst of their conversation,a rustle in the bushes caught Leo's attention. He was on his feet in an instant, his body tense as he scanned the area.Lia's heart skipped a beat, but Leo's calm demeanor reassured her. "It's just a deer,"he said, relaxing slightly."But we should keep moving. The glade is safe, but we can't stay here forever." They continued their journey, the glade fading into the background as the forest closed in around them once more. But the memory of that peaceful place stayed with them,a beacon of hope in the uncertain journey ahead.
