Rodeo

Marc's POV Ben and his wife dragged me out that weekend to the town rodeo. I was not wanting to go. I went denim shirt and black jeans with my motorcycle boots. My hair in that low-hanging ponytail was just my style. I left my shirt unbuttoned some, show off my work and my ink. I was proud of it. Ben bought the tickets so I bought us some beers. We found a spot close to the chutes. "Gonna make sure we stay close to the chutes in case they need me again." Ben snickered as his wife Helen smacked him in the shoulder. "I hope you don't need to break up another fight," she shook her head vigorously. "Never know," he smirked as he jerked his head in the direction of the gate to the arena. Holly sat on that same coffee cream-colored horse with nothing. No Bridle or saddle. I was impressed, to say the least. The horse made no motion at how busy it was or the noises going around. Holly leaned back laying her back on the horse's back and her head on its rump. They sat in companionship completely silent. I was lost in looking at the quiet team composing themselves. A tapping on my shoulder brought me out. "The bulls have started." Ben's excitement showing. He was an old bull rider. Had the limp to prove it not to mention the countless buckles. I smiled at him, I followed the gaze to the bull that was bucking. When I glanced back to see the quiet team were gone. Just space left me. Bringing my eyes to the bulls, Ben chatted about old times, while I listened. "And now for our halftime show! Holly Davis and her dancing Criollo mare Calista!" The PA system blared after the bulls were done. I sat up, I wanted to see what Clint had mentioned. Holly burst through the gate on the big horse. Nothing on the horse's body to show how she spoke to it. They came to a sliding stop, turning deep on their haunches they took off at breakneck speed, as they slid again. Dirt flying and people cheering. The horse began to prance as it changed leads every stride and spun slowly with grace. Everyone was sucked in. Until the scream broke the reverie. I looked at the other end of the arena. One of the nastiest bulls that had been bucking somehow had wandered into the pen. I looked back to see that Holly saw it. I could see her looking around. An attendant ran to her side handing her a long pole. She took it, her horse began to prancing, tucking its hips low and acring its neck like a horse of Olympic caliber. "It seems we have misplaced a bull." the announcer's worried words were heard. "Holly we are sending some cowboys in to help." "Thank you!" Was the un-microphoned reply. Sucking in a breath, the bull charged. I watched her race right at it. She bopped it on the nose as raced past it. I saw the cowboys at the gate near us rushing in as the bull made another charge toward her. She bopped it on the nose again. It started to follow her. As the cowboys, followed behind roping its head and back legs to get it under control. "Alright, get that wiley critter where he belongs." The PA system roared. "Let's give a huge thank you to the cowboys and the best riding duo out there!" Massive clapping followed. The rest of the rodeo went by in a blur. I would glance around periodically to see if I could catch a glimpse of her. I didn't. We were headed back to Ben's truck. When all of us heard it. "You son of a b***h! I know you let that bull in!" A female voice roared. Scuffling started, as we looked on the edge near a trailer and a truck was three men and one woman. The woman was being held, but she lifted her leg and slammed it into the man's crotch. Turning to one of the people holding her she bit down on his arm, slamming her now free fist into the other man's face. Jumping at the man who was standing she pummeled him with her fists. Ben and a few others started running that way. I trotted after them just to watch. Ben grabbed Holly by the waist as she was still raining fists on the man kneeling and covering his face. "Your sorry piece of horse s**t!" She snarled trying to get more hits in while Ben just picked her up and moved her back to the truck. "Holly! Knock it off!" Ben snapped. "You almost hit me damn it." Plopping her down on her butt next to the truck and trailer. "Let me just finish that sorry excuse for a man." She grumbled folding her arms on her chest as she glared back at Kevin. She looked like an adorable little mad puppy. Her deep brown eyes dancing with daggers. If looks could kill she would have slaughtered them all. "Kevin, what have I said about pushing Holly's buttons?" Ben turned to eyeball Kevin. "That dumb b***h scratched my truck!" He pointed spit flopping out of his mouth as his face turned a deeper red. I caught Holly before she was able to land on Kevin this time. I held her tight, and I'll be damned if I didn't hear the faintest growl from her lips as she struggled. "Stop," I whisper near her ear. She stopped at my command. "Good girl" I breathed near her again. She was limp in my arms. I could suddenly feel how her butt was pressed right to my crotch. It was tingling wanting to come alive at her warmth. "Kevin get your ass out of here. I plan to tell the sheriff about the bull." Ben grunted. "I would suggest a truce. This needs to stop." His voice was adamant about it. "This is my town! She needs to leave!" Kevin in mid-fit. "f**k you! I was born here!" Holly yelled from my arms as she started to struggle again. "Easy firecracker," I chuckled in her ear. "Enough!" Roared Ben. "This High school bull s**t needs to stop!" Ben's brown eyes flicked with anger as he added, "No one is leaving town and no one is going to keep fighting. I will tie the two of you together." It was then you could see an idea forming. Even I didn't like the look in his eye.
