Chapter 10“Silvia?” It took August a moment to remember he wasn’t wearing anything, and he stepped away from the woman, moving to hide himself behind a greenhouse table. “Did you need something?”
She was breathing quickly like she’d run all the way from the house, and August got a horrible feeling something had gone wrong.
“Is everything okay? Did something happen to Theo?”
“Yes. He sent me to get you.” She turned and started heading back to the door, her breathing finally slowing down. “But we’ve got to hurry.
“Shit.” August ran past her, stopping to grab the key he’d left on the table by the maintenance log, and turned back, startled that she’d stepped up so close. “Where is he?”
He didn’t notice the shovel until it was too late.
