CRYSTAL
Today we go for another ultrasound. Hopefully we get to find out our little sea monkey's gender. At our last appointment, the baby was being stubborn and wouldn't open his or her legs for the ultrasound tech. She said it was also still a little early to tell but she wanted to try. I am almost ready to go. All I have left to do is pull my hair up and slide my shoes on. Brooks is getting dressed now. Since the dinner we had with our parents and Jonah, Viola and Ashely have been going baby crazy and buyin all kinds of things. At least they are picking gender netural colors when they buy stuff. I'd hate it if they had to return things. Once Brooks was fully dressed, He helped me put my shoes on and I pulled my hair up into a ponytail. He helped me get into the explorer and we headed to the OBGYN's office. I have my ultrasound first then have to do a gloucose test after. They said it was going to take about an hour for the test. Hopefully it isn't high. I have been trying to eat nothing but healthy foods but I do like my sweets sometimes. When we pulled intot he parking lot Brooks got out and came around to my door and opened it for me. He lped me get out and held my hand as we entered the door. I checked in and sat down. While we waited Brooks asked if I had thought anymore about names for our little sea monkey. I nodded and told him I wanted to add my mom's name as either a middle name or first name for a girl and if it was a boy, I was still stuck on the 3 important men in our lives. Marvin, Ray, and Jonah.
"Why don't we just use all three, beautiful? I like Marvin Jonah-Ray Milner."
"I've been thinking about that and I like the name too, Brooks."
"Then that will be the name we choose for our child if it's a boy."
"Okay. What about Michelle Ashley Milner?"
"I love it, Crystal. I know my mom would love it as well if we have a girl."
"Well, I think we have the names down. Now we just have to see which it will be."
We sat there waiting about 15 more minutes before my name was called to go back. My nerves were starting to kick in and Brooks had the biggest smile on his face as we entered the room. I got on the table and the tech turned the machine on. She asked if we really wanted to know the gender before she turned the screen on. Brooks and I both said yes. The screen was turned on and she began moving the wand around. After a few minutes of her moving the wand and click the mouse she tured to Brooks and I.
"Congratulations mom and dad. Say hello to your baby boy."
She turned the screen towards us and there it was. Our son showing off his goods. Brooks broke down and cried. I was in awe at not only our son but at how Brooks was reacting. My heart melted watching the man I love, cry over finding out the gender of the life we created. In that moment, I didn't think I could fall for him even more than I was now. A tear escaped and ran down my cheek and Brooks used his thumb to wipe it away. He kissed my forehead and smiled at me.
"Well, Ms. Martini, eveything looks good right now with his growth. I am happy for you both. Here are some printouts for you to keep and here are a few extra for grandparents."
I thanked the tech and got up to get ready for my test. Once I was seated back in the waiting room, I asked Brooks how he felt. He told me he had never been more excited than he was now. I pretended to be hurt by that and he laughed and told me other than the excitement from when I said yes to marrying him, this was the only other thing he had ever been this excited about. I was called back for my test and I have to say the drink they gave me tasted awful. I tried not to gag as I swallowed it. I had to wait an hour after drinking it before getting the test done. After the hour was up, I had blood drawn and they had me pee in a cup. The nurse said we were all done and they would call with the results and make another appointment if needed for the gloucose. I stopped at the desk and got my next appointment card and checked out. When we got in the car, Brooks asked how we were going to tell everyone. I told him I wanted to do a gender reveal. I wanted to include Kinzlee this time. She was pretty upset with me for not inviting her to dinner when we announced it. He told me that sounded perfect. After we pulled out of the parking lot, Brook took me out to eat. He has been amazing and I am so lucky to have him as not only, my soon-to-be husband but the father of my son. When we finished with our lunch, Brooks took me home. He told me to just relax and let him worry about cleaning the house and dinner. I told him thank you and he kissed me on the forehead before he disappeared into the kitchen. I got comfortable on the couch and turned the TV on. I fell asleep and was woke up by an amzing smell. I got up and walked into the kitchen to see Brooks cooking dinner.
"Mmm. It smells so good. What are you cooking?"
"Hey sleepy head. I am cooking baked lemon pepper chicken, green beans, garlic smashed potatoes and salad to go with it. How was your nap?"
"It sounds good, my love. I can't wait to taste it. It was ok. I slept longer than I would have liked to sleep but oh well. Our boy needs mommy all rested up."
"Yes he does, beautiful. I still can't believe we have a son on the way."
Brooks wiped his hands off and got down on his knees in fron tof me. He lifted my shirt up and kissed my stomach.
"Daddy loves you so much already, Marvin Jonah-Ray Milner. I can't wait until you get here so mommy and I can spoil you with nothing but love."
I placed my hands on Brooks shoulder and pulled he against my stomach. I held him there for a moment and I rubbed the back of his head. I love this man with everything in me and I can't wait until I say I do.
