Forever Home Part 3

Jean-Claude was waiting for us when I got off school on Friday. I’d packed two days’ worth of clothes for me and the twins the night before. Bobby was old enough to take care of his stuff. We loaded the car seats in for the twins and Bobby sat in the back of the SUV with them. I sat up front with Jean-Claude. He smiled after I got buckled in. “Dillon wanted to drive you all down, but he doesn’t exactly drive safe.” He chuckled. “Well, I appreciate it, I have my license and my parents’ car. I could have driven us.” I said. “Not this time. Maybe when you officially move in with us.” I nodded and watched as the scenery flew past. I couldn’t believe we were really doing this. We were really going to see a place that could be our forever home. I prayed to the goddess that this went well. Soon, I saw two spiral shaped trees off to the side of the road. We were entering a pack’s lands. I hadn’t been in pack lands since I left home. We approached the village in the town. It looked really cute. I loved the older style architecture. Driving a little further, we came to what had to be the pack house. It was only two stories. I was amazed. I thought it would be much bigger. Jean-Claude turned and followed the road around the back. There was a little house near the gardens. I could imagine that it would be beautiful in the spring and summer. He pulled up beside the house and parked. Bobby and I helped pull the littles out and get their backpacks. Dillon was already at the door waving and calling out. We got up to the house and he hugged each of us as we got to the door. He seemed to be the more affectionate of the two. I was happy there was a huggy parent. “Come on! I’ll show you to your rooms.” Dillon said. We followed him down the hallway. He opened a door to a room with two little beds with two toy boxes at the end of each. “Claude is a twin. He told me how hard it can be to be separated from your twin in a new place. When Addy is ready, we have a second room ready for her.” He explained. The twins ran in and started pulling toys out of the box. Jean-Claude picked up their backpacks and began unpacking them into the little dressers. We followed Dillon past a closed door with Addy’s name on it. I smiled at it. He turned and opened another door. “This is Bobby’s room.” The room was perfect. It had some boxes of models to be put together. Dad used to put together models with Bobby all the time. He had a study area with a computer on it. I was impressed. “Let’s get to your room.” Dillon smiled. I followed him to the final room. He opened the door. It was bigger than Bobby’s room and had a study corner with a laptop set up and a bookshelf filled with books. As I went to look at them I realized they were medical textbooks. My eyes watered. The room was beautiful. It was done in blues and greens, which were my favorite colors. Something I knew was in my file at the orphanage. I turned and threw my arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around me and held me tight. This was the first time I had a room to myself in two years. “Thank you.” I whispered. “Does this mean you’re going to be my daughter then?” Dillon chuckled. “I don’t know yet. I really want to say yes, but I have to see how this goes with all of the kids. I hope you’ll understand.” “Of course. You want your sister and brothers to be as happy as you are. Put your things away. We’re having dinner in the Alpha’s dining room today. Everyone wants to meet all of you.” He said and pulled out of the hug. Alone in my room, I grinned and put my clothes away. They hadn’t decorated it much, so there was room for me to put my own mark on the place. If this went well and they weren’t too overwhelmed by us, then I would finally have my own space. After my clothes were put away, I stashed my bag in my closet and plugged in my phone charger by my nightstand. Once that was done, I went out into the living room. Bobby came up to me with a huge smile. “My room is so cool! I can’t wait to build some of those models. There were some posters with some of my favorite characters on the walls and the doors, did you see them?” He asked excitedly. “I must have missed that. So you like your room?” I asked. “I do. I want to stay here. Can we, Kay? Please.” Bobby begged. “Let’s see how they do with all of us for the weekend. This will be up to them. Four kids is a lot of work.” I told him. “I’ll be the best kid. They’ll want to keep us forever.” He said with a nod. “You’re already the best kid. Come on.” I smiled. Jean-Claude and Dillon were making sure the twins had their jackets, boots, and mittens on securely before we headed to the pack house. We walked instead of driving. They held the twins’ hands while Bobby and I trailed behind them. When we got to the pack house, we entered a mudroom where we took off our jackets and boots there were slippers for us to wear. Dillon said it was easier on the staff if we used the slippers instead of tracking snow and water through the pack house. I was a little surprised. I didn’t remember our old Alpha being considerate of our omegas like that. They led us down a hall, through a dining room, and into another hall that led to another dining room. We walked into the room and everyone stopped to look at us. A small woman handed off the little girl she was trying to get into a high chair and rushed over to us. “You must be Kaysie. I’m so happy to finally meet you. I’m Bellamy.” She smiled. I tilted my head, slightly confused. This tiny woman was Queen Bellamy? She didn’t look like the fearsome queen everyone revered. “It’s nice to meet you.” I answered softly. “Don’t be afraid. Everyone here really wants to meet you. Lucien, come here!” Queen Bellamy called out. The man she’d handed the little girl to finished strapping her into the high chair and came over. I stuck out my hand to shake his. He grasped my hand and kissed the back of it. I blushed. “The men here do that. Don’t let it scare you. This is my mate, Alpha Lucien Deveraux. I’m so excited you’re here!” She said. She pulled me around the room, introducing me to so many people my head was spinning. Everyone was smiling. All the men kissed my hand and the women all hugged me. It was like I was some sort of long lost family member. When we’d met everyone, we sat down to have dinner. Dillon told everyone about my plans to become a doctor and Bobby’s advanced grade and gifted status in school. He grinned and talked about all the things he was going to sign us up for. The Beta’s adopted daughter, Emily, kept asking me questions. She had to have been a year or so younger than Bobby. She was very friendly and outgoing. Celesta, the Beta’s wife, was just as outgoing. The Gamma, Robert said how much he liked having another Robert in the house. I had to correct him, that Bobby’s real name was Robin. My father had been named Robin. So, he was actually Robin Jr. We were halfway through dinner when the door opened and another small woman came in. She had copper colored hair, like Jean-Claude, and purple eyes. There was an odd smell I’d never smelled before. “Sorry I’m late. I was on the phone with Amelia. She’s having trouble with her friends accepting Finn still.” She sighed. “Tali! Come meet our potential future kids.” Dillon called out to her. She sat on the other side of the table and waved at the omega who came in to remove some plates. I’d never seen anyone with purple eyes before. I wondered how that happened. I knew pink eyes were possible with albinism, but, aside from her pale skin, there were no other signs of it. The omega returned with a plate of soft foods. I could smell the scent of blood and started looking around. No one else seemed to notice it. “Calm down.” Jean-Claude smiled. “Talia is a vampire. Talia, this is our oldest daughter, Kaysie.” “How adorable. She looks a little like Dillon.” She grinned and I could see her fangs. “You’re serious. You have vampires living here.” I gasped. “It’s perfectly safe. They only feed on willing donors and mainly adults. Talia tends to eat blood foods. She’s not going to hurt anyone here.” Queen Bellamy said. If Queen Bellamy said it, then it had to be true. I smiled tightly at the vampire and tried not to stare as I ate my dinner. This was definitely different from anything I had been expecting. We finished our meal, chatting a little. Jean-Claude and Dillon did a great job of keeping the twins focused on their food. It looked like Queen Bellamy and Alpha Lucien had quite a lot to clean up, though. Their little ones were covered in food. They didn’t look too upset, though. In fact, they smiled at each other and laughed as they worked on wiping down the babies and their chairs. The future Beta and Gamma came around the table to talk to us. The future Beta’s mate, Cara, was really nice and offered to take me shopping when I decided to live here. That was something I heard a lot of during the meal. Not if we decided, but when. They all decided that we were coming to live at Lune Rouge.  I really wanted that. I hoped the weekend would go well and we would all get along. I knew that a home visit wasn’t going to tell us everything, but it would be enough. - That night, I curled up in my bed. My room was so quiet. No one else’s breathing or snoring was going to keep me up. It was almost too quiet. I got out of bed and decided to get a drink of water from the kitchen. On my way there, I peeked in on my sister and brothers. They were all sleeping soundly. As quietly as I could, I walked down the hall. I stopped when I heard sounds coming from the living room. I peeked around the corner. Dillon and Jean-Claude were making out on the couch. I tried not to smile. They were so in love. I couldn’t wait to find my mate and feel like that too. The thought shocked me a little. I hadn’t thought about finding my mate since the day before I lost my parents. This was the first time in two years I’d felt like there was a future that didn’t involve raising my siblings. “So, what do you think?” Dillon said, pulling back from Jean-Claude. “I think we should go to bed soon. The kids will probably be up early in the morning and I want you.” Jean-Claude purred. “But I need to know what you think about having four kids all of a sudden. You’re not feeling overwhelmed?” Dillon asked. A knot formed in my stomach. If he was feeling overwhelmed after one day, we wouldn’t be able to stay. Someone had to be able to take care of the twins. “No, mon rêve. This feels right. When Bellamy suggested we take this whole family, I didn’t know what would happen. I was worried that we couldn’t handle it, but Kaysie’s perfect. Bobby is well-behaved. The twins are so fun and full of energy. I’m used to helping out my mom with my sisters. It’s not any worse than that, really. Are you feeling overwhelmed? You’re not used to this many people.” Jean-Claude asked. “Surprisingly, no. I was kind of hoping Kaysie was Richard’s second chance mate, though. She would be so good as the Gamma female. She deserves a position like that after all she’s been through. I can’t believe what Miss Tye said about the last couple to meet with them. How could they call her selfish? They must have never lost someone close to them in an attack. If I had a little sister or brother, I wouldn’t have let them be taken from me no matter what.” Dillon growled. “You’re so sexy when you’re all protective like that, mon rêve. Let’s go to bed. I’ll do that thing you like.” Jean-Claude offered. “Really? That sounds amazing. There’s only one problem, mon nounours.” Dillon murmured. “Mmm. What’s that?” “I think one of the kids is still up.” Dillon chuckled. I blushed and stepped into the living room. “Sorry, I didn’t want to bother you. I just needed a drink of water.” “It’s no bother at all. I’ll show you where the cups are.” Dillon said, getting off of the couch. I followed him into the kitchen and he opened a cupboard near the fridge before pulling out a tumbler and opening the fridge to get a pitcher of water. He poured it for me and I felt a bit like a little kid. I took the cup from him and drank the water. “Is it being in a new place that’s got you all nervous?” He asked. “Not really. I’ve been nervous since Miss Tye said someone wanted to meet us. It feels like I’m just waiting for another rejection.” I sighed. “We’re not going to reject you. We want you. All of you. You met our family tonight and we want to add you and your siblings to it.” Dillon said. “Every minute that I spend here, I begin to think that this is where we belong. Let’s see how the rest of the weekend goes.” I replied. “Great. You should get to bed. We have a lot planned for tomorrow.” He smiled. I said good night and headed back to my room. When I was in bed, I thought about my mom and dad. It felt like they wanted this for us.
