Chapter 32 - Done Forever

Ajax I woke up with my arms wrapped around her waist and my front pressed against her back. She had the most cute snore I had ever heard. I chuckled a little, admiring her long lashes fanning against her cheeks, her eyes closed, and her lips ready to be kissed. I checked the time, and it was still early, so I leaned forward and kissed her neck. She wobbled and cuddled into my body, humming, sending my entire blood flowing down south. “Susie,” I mumbled her name and her eyes fluttered open. She gasped, realizing where she was, with whom, and our position. “Ajax, what? How?” She sat up faster than lightning. “Hey, relax, nothing happened. We just slept together,” I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. She started pacing the room while I trailed her with my eyes. “But, I… Alan… what am I going to tell him? What…” She freaked out and sighed, “How am I going to look him in the eye?” her head slumped, and I felt sorry for her. She was feeling guilty about sleeping in the same bed as me while the i***t was using her. Not that she knew about that one, but I was barely an inch from telling her the entire truth if that would ease her distress. “Hey, come here.” I patted the edge of the bed, and she slowly sat next to me. She was torturing her lower lip, and I sighed. “Don't make me feel guilty. You agreed on staying the night, you remember, right?” I asked her because I wanted to be certain she understood that whatever happened between us, such as only sleeping, was consensual, and we both agreed on it. She nodded. “Do you regret it?” I asked her, waiting for my entire world to crumble. She shook her head so she didn't regret spending the night with me, “Then, what is it?” She sighed, “Ajax, I am a mess. I am confused. Being here with you makes me feel complete… but…” She paused, and I sighed, “I am in a committed relationship,” she exclaimed, and I nodded. “Then let's fix that…” I cupped her cheek. She closed her eyes, relishing my touch, and then opened them. “How?” She mumbled, “Be my girlfriend instead of his…” I muttered, lowering my lips to hers in a tender kiss. She reciprocated the kiss, and when we parted ways, she leaned her forehead to mine and whispered, “This is so wrong on so many levels, but it feels so right…” “I understand your moral conflict, and the last thing I want you to feel is pressure to make a decision,” I said, regretting my words immediately. Why in the f*****g world am I leaving a window open for that bastard to convince her he loves her? “Thanks, Ajax," she sighed, kissing my cheek. I should go…” She said and stood up, and when she tried to step away from me, I held her hand in mine. She stopped and looked at me. “I can't let you go…” I pulled her to me. She fell on the bed on top of me, and I kissed her passionately. Her lips moved along with mine. A little whimper followed by a soft moan filled the room. I allowed her to move around once we had enough of each other. “Let me walk you to your place,” I sighed, not wanting to let her go. She belonged with me, in my place and on my bed. “Alright,” She muttered and made her way downstairs. She picked up her things and gasped when she saw her reflection in the mirror by the main door. She ran her fingers around her hair, trying to comb the bird's nest her hair became during the night. “Do you wake up always looking this dashing?” I joked, and she pouted, “I am just like Anna from Frozen…” She rolled her eyes, “Cute and a deep sleeper,” She filled in the gap, and I nodded. I pecked her nose, “That you are,” I pecked her temple, and she nodded. “I have to go; thanks for everything,” she said. I opened the door of my place and watched her walk away and enter the penthouse next door. As soon as I returned to my room, I lay in bed, inhaling the remnants of her intoxicating scent on my pillow. I picked up my phone and texted her. “Want to have breakfast?” I typed and waited, Suddenly, her message popped up, “Love to! Give me 30,” she texted back, and I chuckled. She is into me just the same way I am into her. Damn it, I feel all fuzzy and giggly inside. She is changing me… I enjoy my time alone more often than not; now, with her in the picture, I can't imagine being alone anymore. I took a quick shower and dressed casually, and 30 minutes later, I knocked on her door. I could hear voices and somehow yelling on the other side. I knocked again, and then I got a text from Gio. “Come to my mate's place, NOW.” I sighed, “I am out, knocking!” I typed back, and suddenly, the door burst open. “Where were you?” A male voice yelled, and then I heard sobs… “Answer me, damn it! I waited for you here the entire night!” “I was working with my classmate on Mr. Costa's project,” she mumbled, and I sighed. It took everything within me not to jump into the argument. “Really? In your pajamas?” The snarky remark was uncalled-for, “Yeah… my teammate is Gio's roommate, and I decided to be comfortable…” She said, and he laughed, “Do I look like a f*****g gullible guy?” He bared, and I heard her sob. “Please, Alan, we need to talk, but not when you are like this… “ She mumbled, her voice smaller by the minute. “I don't want to talk to you right now! You are a w***e like Gracie!” He barked, and I growled. His eyes snapped open, and his knees faltered. After all, I am the future King. “What do we have here?” He lifted his eyebrows; he knew exactly who I was. “Apologize to her!” I growled, and he bared his neck. “This does not concern you,” he gritted his teeth, “You are mistaken; it concerns me. She spent the night working on Mr. Costas's project with me and doesn't deserve your treatment.” I stood next to Susie. She looked at me, her beautiful gray eyes filled with tears. “Now, apologize!” I said, and he sighed, “I'm sorry, but you betrayed me…” Alan said,, and I snorted. He looked at me with disdain, and Susie stared at me with admiration and confusion. “Are you ready?” I asked Susie, and she nodded. “Where are you going with him?” Alan barked, and I sighed, “We are not done with the project, so we are having something for breakfast, and then we will continue working,” I said in a definitive voice. “What am I to you, Susie… a f*****g joke?” Alan barked, his eyes trembling with anger, “I told you I wanted to talk to you when you were controlled, but if you are going to be acting like an asshole, then I can tell you this in front of everyone,” she paused, “Alan, you have been my best friend for a long time. I had admired you and even loved you for so long that it was a routine, a given. Unfortunately, the idea of us, the infatuation and the silly dream I built in a cotton candy cloud, is far from what reality is.” She was honest and tender and a far better human than most of the people I have met. “The truth is, I rushed into a relationship with you when I no longer had the feelings I thought I had for you, and for that… I am sorry.” She said, and Alan paled, “If you find it in your heart to forgive me, I would love to remain friends with you,” she said honestly. “Never… if we are done, we are done forever…” He said, and I just thought, what a foolish douchebag he was. “I am sorry… but have it your way. Whenever you need a friend, you know where to find me…” she said, looking at me. “Now, let's go. We still have a lot to do,” she said, turning around, and I followed her. As soon as we stepped out of the place, I wrapped my hand in hers… “You are amazing…” I said, and she bit her lower lip, trying to hold her tears… “I just lost my best friend…” She cried.
