Chapter 6

Finding Love

Everything Astro saw was tinted red as he ran as fast as he could on all fours.

He noticed that when in full wolf form the world seems more alive; the dirt from the earth under his paws felt soft yet packed hard as he headed off deeper into the woods seeing that as his only escape and refuge for now.

His sense of smell and super sharp hearing picked up shrubs, flowers even animals like squirrels, chipmunks and a few birds before he could even see them with his keen eyesight that seemed to be able to pull things afar closer to him for clearer view (but in reality his eyesight in wolf form was just really incredible and predatory).

He could focus on anything from even a long distance with the wolfs eyesight,

but it was all tinted red, that kept him deep in thought, 'was my soul really tainted? was I really marked by the gods of the nether realm? am I really a demonwolf as said by the elders of the clan?'

He had no answers but he knew deep down as well that he had all the answers already, at least to an extent.

The bristles on his snout kept picking up potential prey shudders and scents, and also warned him of dangers, but he was already in danger long ago as he had lost the smell of the clan's territory a while back.

He knew he was in unmarked territory now, the badlands as they've been told while growing up, far away from safety, but really where is it safe for someone like him?

He had bursted out of the room after the clan's leaders had told him what he was,

He had seen the look on some of their faces, contempt, pity and even fear.

He had left in such a rush without thinking also because he was scared as well, scared of what's going to come next after the unravelling of his identity.

He had burst out of the room running on two legs but he transformed as he ran,

He turned straight into a full wolf without thinking about it because his body and mind knew he need a part of him that could take him really far away very fast.

So the wolf came out in a smooth transformation even as he was running, all it took was one giant leap from his legs in human form and the entire transformation took place midair landing him on all fours of his wolf form,

then he kept running faster and faster, feeling the power coursing and raging through him.

It had thundered as well during the transformation, just one loud blast announcing the transformation of the demonwolf, of the cursed one, of the tainted one.

He felt the power and he ran, his wolf body worked in one accord, all senses reporting to a brain superior to that of an ordinary wolf, and the brain coordinating accordingly in effect.

It was then that he discovered that he was being followed,

at first he started picking up another rustle different from the one he was causing,

then he picked up panting, then he also picked up a scent, and on recognizing the scent he ran even faster.

'no no no' he thought to himself 'please no please no, not her, not now'.

He was sure he had just picked up Sheila's scent, she was really fast and seemed to be catching up,

but he only ran faster and faster not really knowing why he wanted to get away from her when really all he wanted was to cuddle up with her and have her hold him tight as he cried.

Just when he started thinking he might have escaped her, he heard her voice loud and strong in his head

"Astro!" She called sounding panicked and that halted his pounce and strides.

He skidded on all fours as he came to a rough stop,

clearly she hadn't been using her wolf senses right in her panicked state because as he turned to search for her, she crashed into him at full speed.

They both tumbled and tumbled in a tangle of wolf fur, claws, tails, unable to stop the rush fall till they fell into a small ditch that had probably been caused by a mini waterfall created by erosion,

although the ditch was dry now and was only filled with the tangle of two large full wolves, one silvery white and the other stark black.

They got up and shook their bodies, getting rid of the dirt and righting their furs.

Sheila looked into Astro's eyes and he could see all the emotion behind her own dull glow of blue eyes,

then she came forward and gave him what could be said to be a hug in wolf form.

She placed her head on the back of his neck and gave a low rumble from her throat, then he hugged her back by returning the gesture.

"Why did you run off like that, I was really worried" he heard her say in his head.

He stepped backwards then, breaking off the hug, then he pathed back to her,

"you didn't hear what they said, what they said I am, what I have become because of what I did to save my friends, you didn't hear what they said has happened to my soul"

He got emotional and anger also started to creep into his pathing to her head.

"I know, I actually heard it all, I came by and I eavesdropped " she replied and Astro couldn't just believe what was being said to his head.

"you heard?" He asked to which she nodded in reply.

"So why did you come after me? what do you think of the things they said?" He asked her again still not believing all that was being pathed to him.

"What do you expect me to think, this happened to you as a mistake, not because you chose it or you intended for it to happen,

besides it is already the way it is, the only way forward is to deal with it and move on" she answered really clear toned and sure of herself.

Astro's mind started processing once again after a brief moment of utter surprise,

He asked her then, "Aren't you scared of me?, I could smell it off some of those in the room when what I am was being revealed, pure fear".

She stepped closer as she answered "then take a whiff of me, do you smell fear?"

Astro shook his head slowly as he took in a strong scent of her in subtlety, she smelled of fur and cinnamon and mint with a bit of anxiety but not an ounce of fear.

"The only thing I fear is losing you" she finished.

Astro stood up to his full wolf form then and she did the same,

He discovered he was larger than she was by a few and he also discovered that while looking at her white wolf body form with his own wolf eyes, he found her to be extremely beautiful as he found her to be when looking at her human form with human eyes.

A light breeze started blowing, ruffling through their furs and through the bushes, shrubs and trees around them.

Astro started to simmer down, shrinking as he returned to human form with heat exhaling from every part of his body from the reversion.

He actually discovered that his bones form and reform more fluidly now than that very first day when he transformed into a full wolf and also just as fluid when returning to human form.

He saw her follow suit as she also started to revert back to human form as well,

Astro decided to keep his eyes glowing red so he could keep looking at her with the wolf's eyes which shows him more of her beautiful self.

They both stood n***d now and he smiled as he looked into her eyes to see them also still giving their dull blue glow,

she had also kept her wolf eyes,

come to think of it that's the best thing to actually do since it was really dark out there in the woods already, ordinary human eyes won't be able to see anything at all.

Astro's eyes didn't stay on hers though,

He looked past her beautifully carved face to her perfect neckline down to her chest with full round perfectly shaped breasts, the n*****s hardened probably because of the cold of the nights breeze,

'who knows' he thought to himself.

He continued his survey, looking past that to her curvy stomach region housing her innie belly button, to her waist curving out to her hips and flowing down into her perfect legs with bare feet on ground,

He retraced his gaze back to her eyes only to find them also just returning from a trip of their own along his own body as well, he could only guess what she'd been thinking while scanning him thus.

"so are we just gonna stare at each other all day in this cold night weather or what?" She asked,

her voice rang out clear and sounded melodious like a birds song, it was the first spoken speech out there that night.

Astro smiled and moved closer to her slowly as he answered "I think I'll go for the second option"

She put her arms around his neck as he circled his around her back, feeling her hard n*****s hard on his chest.

"and what option is that?" She asked so sweetly soft that he couldn't help his arousal especially because she'd also started to play with the hair at the back of his head and her warm body pressed harder into his.

"If I remember correctly the option was 'Or What" he said to her as he started closing the gap between their faces.

She mouthed OH and smiled a bit right before their lips met and a hot passionate kiss ensued.

They made love right there and then, a hot and passionate copulation that could've only ensued between those that loved each other totally and completely without doubt.

As the love making ended, she turned to him and kissed his head then his lips then she turned back and they slept in a spooning position, falling deeply asleep right there in the dirt, on the ground, both n***d and exhausted.

Sheila heard the first c***k that indicated someone stepping on a branch and her eyes flew open immediately.

There was a tint of blue around all she saw as she used her wolf's eyes to search for where the sound came from and more importantly who made the sound.

Another c***k followed and then more rustling that indicated movement from a couple of entities.

Astro immediately flew up to a crouching position on hearing the disturbance around them this time as well and was immediately fully aware of his surroundings as he also used his wolf's eyes to scan about.

Sheila got up more slowly though and also crouched as that was the best position that won't expose them too much as well as also have them ready for any reaction to any encounter.

"Three" Astro pathed to Sheila, deciding the silent communication was their best option.

"No five" Sheila pathed back and he rechecked once again scanning to confirm her own findings only to find them true.

They were surrounded by five entities and from the scent he caught he knew they had to be shapeshifters.

Sheila tensed and then drew a deep breath as she suddenly caught a good whiff of their stalkers and would be oppressors.

"Astro, they are Lynx" she said to him looking into his eyes with the fear he'd failed to find in them just a few moments ago.

Sure enough the one who had to be the leader stepped out into the open fully transformed,

Faint stripes, spots and fur of a lynx flowing through his face down his body that also had the feline structure of one.

He had a dark smile on his face,

"nice catch tonight ehn guys, don't you think? They'd both fetch awesome prices at the dark market" he said and he was replied by snickers and chuckles from his team as they showed up one by one till they were five in total.

Two were werelynxes in form including the leader while the other three were in full lynx form.

Astro knew the full formed ones were the real competition here even if they were only half the size of what he'd be in full wolf form, because he knew of the advantage that being in a full form of an animal part adds to a shapeshiter.

He also considered the fact that he and Sheila both were outnumbered but he wasn't about to be captured by lynxes because he knew they were dark traders who captured and sold other shapeshifters into s*****y to all kinds of people (dark magic practitioners mostly) in the dark market as their reputation states,

They also served as hunt hounds for some humans who hated werewolves or those who hunted shapeshifters for sport,

this was simply because they were known to have the skill set and experience to excel at such gruesome betrayal to their own kind.

"Astro?..." Sheila pathed to him, he heard her voice in his head, now clear and sure and without fear,

probably because she had also realized the fact that they have no other option but to fight for their lives and freedom.

He smirked and replied her also pathing so the lynxes wouldn't hear.

"I won't allow any harm come to you, I'd kill all these wrenches or they kill me before that can happen, I lose everything if I lose you,

well they say my soul is tainted already, lets see just how tainted it can get with a few lynx souls added to the mix" he said as the thunder that announces his transformation started rumbling in low blasts.
