~ Five Days Later ~

"It happened last night in his sleep. He passed away peacefully." The doctor told me.
I stared at Jan's empty room. Boris apparently got the call in the middle of the night last night that Jan had passed away. He waited to tell me until I woke up this morning.
Boris must think that I'm in some kind of fragile state.
We rushed here immediately. I didn't want to believe it, but... How can I deny it now?
"I am so sorry for your loss," the doctor said.
I can't even reply, or acknowledge her.
"Thank you." Zofia told her for me.
The doctor walked away. I kept staring into Jan's empty hospital room.
