Addison’s POV
“That is a bit early for an attitude,” I huffed.
“That is because it is too god damn early to deal with you,” he sneered.
“What the hell?” I asked. “What is your problem, Damien?”
“You are my problem,” he said as he walked away leaving me standing shocked by the fridge.
I couldn’t get over how rude he was, rude enough to make me lose my appetite, so I skipped the meal and went for a run instead.
I never understood what went wrong. He used to be so caring and loving and one day it all just flipped around.
In my frustration, I had run a little further than I had at first anticipated and was quite surprised over how far I had gotten. The sun was rising in the sky and my stomach began growling which told me that it was time to go back home. One thing I had forgotten while I was running in my daze was that the further, I ran, the further I would have to run to get back and by the time I finally reached the driveway, my legs were shaking, breath was unsteady, and my body was begging me for a break.
I showered and got dressed and made my way to the kitchen once more, hoping not to bump into him again. I ended up making some eggs and bacon and decided to make some for my parents too. Not that I had to suck up for my mom, but I definitely needed a little help to get on my dad’s good side today.
“Morning,” I chirped as my mom and dad entered the kitchen.
“Morning princess,” my dad said. “Did you make this?” he asked eyeing me suspiciously.
“Yeah,” I said as I sat down next to them.
“That is nice of you honey,” my mom smiled.
My dad kept looking at me for a few seconds before he focused on his plate and began eating.
The rest of the day I tried to be at my absolute best behavior. It was easy to tell that my dad knew that something was up, but I didn’t care. As long as I got to go, then everything was fine.
Dylan’s POV
Addison had been extremely nice today. She had done all of her chores and she even made breakfast which I know she isn’t very fond of doing. I had a feeling that she was trying to suck up to something which meant that it would only be a matter of minutes before I would get the puppy face that would later turn into an irritated teenager.
“Damien Alex Demarco, you better get your ass in here now!” Ally yelled from the kitchen.
“You better go,” I chuckled, looking at my 17-year-old son who had a frightened look on his face.
He looks so much like I did when I was that age.
When we first got to the first ultrasound, we were ecstatic.
That was until we learned that Ally was pregnant with twins. I remember that I felt very dizzy, and that Taylor had to tell me to sit down.
Later on, when we found out the genders, I was thrilled to hear that we would have a son. When I was told that we would also have a daughter I nearly fainted. How would I be a good enough dad to make sure that she would be safe in this world? To make sure that she would be safe in this line of business? Even today I tried my best to keep her sheltered from all the pain that she might be put through. But seeing as they were our kids, that showed up to be a difficult task considering that the twins were a perfect mixture of Ally and me. Not only personality-wise, but with their looks as well.
Both of them had my brown hair, but with Ally’s curls.
Damien had my sharp facial features while Addison had Ally’s softer features.
Their eyes were a mix between my brown ones and Ally’s light blue eyes which meant that Damien’s eyes were blue in the middle and turning golden brown by the edges.
Addison’s eyes however were different.
I still remember my mom’s expression when she first saw it.
“Oh, oh!” she squealed while sitting with Addison. “Have you seen this?”
“Seen what?” I asked confused over my mom’s excitement.
“Her eyes,” she cooed all mesmerized. “They are two different colors.”
I got up to see what she meant, seeing as I hadn’t seen my daughter’s eyes yet.
And she was right.
Addison’s right eye was brown while the left was blue.
All in all, they looked the same, but yet again very different.
Especially personality-wise.
Damien was tough and always knew what he wanted in life. He was a bit of a playboy which annoyed his mom very much since it reminded her of how I acted before I met her.
Addison was the sweetest and most kindhearted person just like her mom and she believed that everyone had something good in them which was why I ended up sheltering her from the world. I didn’t want Addison to experience any of the things that Ally went through at her age. Ally always told me that I should stop babying her so much and let her live, but I just never had the courage to do so. Addison, no matter how big she got, would always be my little girl.
But just like her mom, she was also extremely stubborn. When she had first put something to her mind, she would want it that way and that way only.
“Ugh, why is it always me,” Damien mumbled, snapping me out of my thoughts as he got up.
I couldn’t help but laugh as I heard Ally scold him for the mess he apparently had made.
“What is all that yelling about?” Addison asked walking in.
I was about to answer when Ally beat me to it.
“Your brother doesn’t know how to clean up after himself,” Ally said sourly as she plopped down on the couch next to me.
“Well, you should see his room then,” Addison snickered.
Ally’s face scrunched up into a frown as our daughter informed her that the kitchen apparently wasn’t the only place he hadn’t cleaned.
“I swear he will be the death of me,” Ally sighed looking at me.
“What are you looking at me for?” I asked holding up my hands.
“He is your son,” she huffed.
“He is yours too,” I laughed.
“Hey, dad?” Addison asked.
Here we go.
“Yes, Addy?”
“Can I go out with Gabby in an hour?” she asked batting her eyelashes at me.
There it was.
“To where,” I asked.
“Sure,” Ally said at the same time, earning a glare from me.
“Thanks, mom,” Addison squealed about to run out of the room.
“Hey, not so fast young lady!” I said as I got up. “I want to know where you are going and with who.”
“Gabby invited me to a party at Uncle Dario’s new Club,” she said slowly.
“Not a chance,” I stated. “You aren’t going.”
I didn’t understand why she kept asking me for permission to do the same thing I keep saying no to. Couldn’t she see that I was trying to keep her safe?
“Why not?”
“You are only seventeen and I won’t have it. Do you have any idea how many guys will be there?” I asked frowning at the thought of them trying to be inappropriate with my princess.
“I’m almost eighteen now and besides, you always let Damien go,” she huffed.
“That’s different,” I said.
“How?” she asked raising her voice slightly. “He is only seventeen too, but you let him do all sorts of things. You let him work with you, let him go to parties and whatnot,” she exclaimed throwing her hands in the air.
“I know that he can defend himself, plus I thought we had already talked about this a few days ago,” I said. “And don’t raise your voice at me.”
“Because you let him train with you,” she said crossing her arms over her chest. “I’m not a kid anymore and considering you said a few days ago that you didn’t want to treat me like one, I just want to inform you that you aren’t doing a very good job at that,” she said looking at her mom.
“Don’t look at your mom like that,” I stated just as Ally was about to say something. “You aren’t going and that is final,” I said not budging.
“But dad…” she began but I interrupted her.
“You might not be a kid anymore as you say, but you are still my daughter, and you will listen to what I say! Are we clear?” I shouted and watched her as she flinched. “I said are we clear?” I asked in a calmer matter seeing as I already regretted shouting at her.
“Yes,” she said in a small voice that didn’t exactly make me feel any better.
“Good, now go to your room,” I said a little harsher than I wanted.
“Ugh!” she exclaimed before storming out of the room.
“Dylan…” Ally began. “Maybe you should let her go,” she said sweetly.
“You know it isn’t safe,” I pointed out.
“I know, but she will be at Dario’s club, and you know that he won’t let anything happen to her,” she smiled. “You can’t keep treating them differently just because she is a girl.”
“She’s my little girl,” I said. “I don’t want anything bad to happen to her.”
“Has she ever done something to make you doubt her?” she asked raising her brow at me.
“No, but…”
“No buts honey. You should have some faith in her. She is our daughter after all, and she takes after you more than you realize.”
“Yeah, and that is what scares me,” I sighed.
