Addison’s POV
Ugh.
Sometimes I really hated my dad and right now was one of those times.
I knew that he just wanted to keep me safe, he always did, but he kept treating me like I was a little girl who couldn’t do anything on her own and I hated it. I had taken self-defense classes, not that he knew of that because there was no way in hell that he would let me take them, but I knew how to defend myself. I knew how to get away from trouble if it ever found its way to me. But he didn’t believe in me. Not as he did in Damien.
To him, my twin brother was the perfect son who got to do whatever the hell he wanted, while I needed to stay home all the time. Every time I wanted to do something, I always got told the same word. No.
But this time I wouldn’t have it.
I was done with being kept away even though that it was the safer choice considering my dad's business, but if he would just treat me like he did Damien, we wouldn't have had this problem.
I don't know how many times I had shown interest in helping out, but every time I did, I was turned down and I was sick of it.
It was time for my dad to see who his daughter was and that no one were to tell her what to do. Not even him.
‘I’ll be by your house in 30,’ I texted Gabby.
I walked into my closet to find an outfit that would fit for tonight. I ended up choosing a black mini dress along with some simple black Louie heels. I threw it into a small bag that I threw over my shoulder just as my phone vibrated in my pocket.
‘Your dad actually let you come?’ she texted back.
‘Not exactly, just get ready.’
‘Will do.’
I walked to my balcony and looked down.
I had never done this before myself, but I had seen Damien crawl down this way many times. Somehow the distance to the ground seemed bigger now that I had to do it myself.
I took a deep breath and threw one leg over, followed by the other.
“Sorry dad,” I said before climbing down.
When I made it far enough to jump, I did and felt the wind under me.
I had made a promise to Gabby, and I intended on keeping it. I would not let her down again like I had done so many times before and this time was different too. This time it would be Uncle Dario’s club. Not some random sketchy place.
When my feet hit the grass, I looked up to my balcony door. I had tried to close it as much as I could without actually closing it. I stood there for a second debating if I was actually about to do this before I sighed and shook my head. I turned on my heel and made my way towards the gate in the front praying that none of the guards would catch me.
I walked at a fast pace, making sure not to look back as I turned around the corner and walked out on the road. I made it. I actually made it. A feeling of pride rushed through me, but it wasn’t the only feeling present. However I had to ignore that for now because now was the time for me.
Gabby wasn’t living far away from me, which in today’s case was a good thing. I hurried as much as I could and about 15 minutes later, I was at her house.
“You actually came!” she said surprised when she opened the door.
“Well, I told you I would now, didn’t I?” I laughed. “Come on! Let’s go get ready.”
“We are actually going to have a girl's night tonight,” she squealed from inside of her walk-in closet.
“We sure are,” I laughed at her excitement. “I just hope nothing goes wrong,” I muttered to myself.
“Now, why would anything go wrong?” she asked with an eyeroll as she walked over to me. “Here take this on,” she said as she handed me a golden dress.
“I already got a dress,” I said confused as I held it up in my hand.
“Yeah, well that is simply not outstanding enough,” she smirked. “Come on,” she begged. “This is our first night out, like ever! We have to make it memorable.”
“Fine,” I sighed and stripped down. “But if this is way too much…” I began but she already interrupted me.
“Yeah, yeah, then you take your own on,” she smiled.
She was right just like always. When it came to fashion, Gabby had an incredible eye for it and she most of the time wasn’t mistaken with her choice of clothing.
“You look amazing,” she squealed while clapping in her hands. “Are we ready to go?”
“I guess we are.”
An hour later and we had arrived at his club. I paid the cap and followed Gabby out until we were standing at the entrance.
“Oh my god,” I said in amazement. “This place is…”
“f*****g amazing!” Gabby squealed.
“ID’s please?” the door man asked.
“We don’t have any ID,” I shrugged trying to sound like I had done this before.
“Then you can’t come in,” he shrugged back.
“This is my uncle’s club, and I don’t think he will like it very much if you let me stand out here all night,” I scoffed.
“Listen I haven’t got time for this s**t,” he huffed. “Next!”
“Hey wait a minute!” I spoke but he ignored me.
“I don’t quite think you know who we are,” Gabby huffed at the man in front of us.
“Should I?” he laughed.
“Yeah, you really should,” she snickered. “She is Addison. Addison Demarco,” she said casually, and his eyes went wide for a second.
“Sure, and my mom is the queen of England,” he huffed. “Next!”
I was about to protest when I heard someone calling me.
“Addison!” Dario called from the doorway, making the doorman turn around.
“Uncle Dario!” I yelled and looked at the doorman who clearly looked shocked even though he tried his best to hide it.
“Why are you standing out here?” he asked as he came closer.
I simply looked at the doorman and crossed my arms over my chest.
“Ask your friend here,” I smiled.
“That is my niece so let them through,” he demanded. “And for the next time, if you see them, let them pass without standing in line. Tell it to you peers.”
“Y-yes sir,” the man said and made room for us.
“I can’t believe you had him convinced,” Uncle Dario said with a chuckle as we entered.
The second the door closed behind us, the sound of the music blasting from the speakers hit me along with the heat that was in the air due to the many people. It was a two-story club with a bar on the top floor as well as on the bottom floor. People were dancing everywhere, laughing and having fun.
Guess this was how it felt like to have a little freedom.
“Me neither,” I half-smiled feeling the guilt creeping up on me for lying to him.
I had never in my life lied to my uncle before and I felt incredibly bad about it, but if he knew that I was not allowed to be there, he would call my dad faster than I could beg him not to.
“I reserved a VIP spot for you on the top floor,” he said as he pointed to the front of the top floor. “The drinks will be on the house, but do not too many, okay?” he chuckled. “I do not want to deal with your dad just because you got yourself too drunk.”
“Of course not,” I said over the music.
“I have some business to attend to,” he spoke. “You know where to find me if needed.”
I gave him a hug before we left to go upstairs. The looks we were given when we entered the VIP section were hilarious. It was so obvious that no one thought that we belonged there until they noticed the table we were walking to. ‘Reserved for Demarco’ the sign on the table said and I watched as people’s eyes went wide before, they quickly turned away to mind their own business.
This was ought to be fun.
