HER: Nightmare Nemesis

"Key, you finally made it here!" Marius exclaimed after the long silence.

It was when everything that was frozen, including the people inside the room, unfroze.

’Yung mga pinipigilang hininga kanina ng lahat ay unti-unting bumalik sa mga baga nila. And even Faye, who was frozen stiff, finally recovered and regained her face.

Nagtataka man kung bakit nandito na rin agad at pumasok si Kirth ay ginawa pa rin ni Faye ang lahat para hindi iyon ipahalata sa mukha niya.

She looks at the new guy who just entered the room. The familiar guy who caused her doom. The only guy she loved and cared for, but in the end, was betrayed and was fooled until her d*ath. The guy who is the reason for all that happened to her. While staring at the guy emotionlessly, the feelings inside her were bottled up and mixed up.

All her sufferings, pain, the endless feeling of betrayal, the anger, even the sadness, the grief, the longingness, and all the feelings she had for the guy who she couldn't even see before she died surged up and overwhelmed her.

"What happened?" Kirth asked while staring at her, making her flinch.

Why is he even staring at her? Does he know her already? Well, she quite looks like Kaevyn since Kaevyn looks like their father, who also looks like her father. Medyo gentile lang tingnan ang papa niya kumpara sa tatay nina Kaevyn. Hindi tuloy malaman ni Faye kung sasagot ba siya o ano dahil sa kanya lang talaga nakatingin si Kirth.

"Just a little cat fight, Key. Pinag-aagawan kasi nila si Saeji. Nahuli kasi ng isa sa girlfriends ni Saeji iyang bago na nakatingin kay Saeji kaya ayan," Val explained, even laughing at Saeji.

Halos mapairap naman sa ere, si Faye sa narinig. Gustuhin man niyang umangal sa sinabing iyon ng lalaki ay nanahimik na lang siya at napaiwas ng tingin kay Kirth at tumingin kay Saeji. Nang makitang nakatingin din sa kanya si Saeji na parang nagtataka ay nagkunwari siyang nahihiyang mapapayuko, and then acted shy once again.

"I-I wasn't . . . looking at him," pahina nang pahina na sagot ni Faye while fidgeting.

She just wanted to play for a while with those guys, as she had already started it and she couldn't just back out now that Kirth was already here.

Hindi naman niya kasi inakalang dadating din pala ang lalaki ngayong first day. Kung ’yung mga ka-gang ni Kirth lang ay tanggap niya pa. Iisipin pa niya na baka naging epekto lang ’yun nang biglang pag-rebirth niya. Pero ngayong dumating din ng maaga kumpara sa dapat na dating nito si Kirth ay mas lalo siyang naguluhan at napaisip.

Can her rebirth really change some things which should be happening but either didn't happen, happened earlier, happened differently, or did not happen at all?

Paano pa kaya kapag nagsimula na siyang maghiganti at ibahin ang mga mangyayari, ano kaya ang mangyayari? Can it make a lot more difference?

"What now, the newbie got to like Saeji first?" A very sarcastic remark echoed in the room.

This time, Faye legitimately stared shocked at Kirth, who was still looking at her. Kung kanina ay parang wala lang na nakatingin ito sa kanya, ngayon ay medyo nakakunot na ang noo nito.

Unconsciously, Faye gulped as she gripped the sides of her uniform. Na napansin naman ng dalawang pinsan na kanina pa pala siya tinitignan.

"Don't tease my cousin Kirth. She was just teasing the girl," seryosong singit na ni Kaevyn at tumayo pa sa tabi ni Faye.

Sa sinabing iyon ni Kaevyn ay doon lang nabalik sa ulirat ang mga ka-gang ni Kirth sa gulat dahil sa sinabi niyang iyon.

"I-iyon naman pala Key eh! Trip-trip lang pala ’yun." Saeji stuttered, making the mood light, kahit pa nga ultimo siya ay kinabahan sa sinabi ng kaibigan niya.

Napaiwas ng tingin, Kirth just tsk-ed as he put his hands in his pocket and walked towards his gangmates. Doon lang napakawalan ni Faye ang kanina niya pang pinipigilang paghinga. Puffing silently, she looked at the girl who was still frozen stiff on her front coldly.

"You can have him all you want. Iyon ay kung gugustuhin ka rin niya. Anyway, I will just find someone to like that is more worth it. What a bummer," she said to the girl coldly, which surprised everyone in the room.

"Now that is my real cousin!" Kaevyn shouted and even whistled.

"Galing! The best ka talaga Insan Lunes!" Kaeley added clapping her hands excitedly.

She just proudly smiled at them both as she already sat in her chair.

"What?!"

"The f**k?!"

"It was all just an act?!"

Gulat na sigaw ng mga ka-gang ni Kirth, na hindi na nilingon pa ni Faye, at napapikit na lang at umub-ob sa desk niya. She was really sleepy since before she rebirths, hindi na makatulog ang dating siya dahil sa halo-halong nararamdaman para sa first day niya. Which end her lack of sleep since madaling araw na siya nakatulog.

"Of course! As if namang magkagusto ang pinsan ko sa kolokoy na 'yan?" mataray na sagot ni Kaeley na nakangiwi pa na parang diring-diri siya isipin niya pa lang na magkakagusto ang pinsan niya kay Saeji.

"Aba't—" Hindi naman naituloy ni Saeji ang sasabihin at nanahimik na lang habang nakanguso.

Bored, Faye unconsciously looks at her cousin while still leaning on her chair's table. "Well, he's kinda cute, Ley. I kinda like him actually. But well, he looks like a playboy. I hate players the most," she said unconsciously, and since it was still quite now that the king was in the room, everyone heard her.

Gulat na napatingin sa kanya ang pinsan. "What? Sa lahat nang magugustuhan mo Insan, bakit ang kolokoy na ’yun pa?" medyo may kalakasan na tanong sa kanya ni Kaeley.

Nakita naman niya ang sunod-sunod na pagtango ni Kaevyn na parang ayaw na ayaw talaga nila kay Saeji. Naiiling na napangisi na lang siya. She wants to tease her cousin that she might be jealous but maybe next time.

"Crush lang naman. Anyway, I will just change crush so don't worry. But maybe you should do, since I want another crush from them," she playfully said and whispered the last sentence to her cousin before taking a nap.

Pero dahil nga sa tahimik ang room, everyone who was near them heard her. Seeing her like that, kahit gusto pa siyang kulitin ng mga pinsan ay napapabuntonghininga na lang sila na napailing bago nilingon ang kabilang grupo na mukha 'atang na-trauma sa mga sinabi ni Faye.

"A-ahem! Anyway, hindi naman kasi iyon ang sinasabi namin, pero ’yung pagiging inosente at pagiging fragile niyang pinsan mo kanina ay acting lang din?" tanong ni Val na siyang pumutol sa awkwardness na ginawa ni Faye.

Halos mapairap naman si Faye ng marinig ang salitang fragile.Sabihin na nating tanga siya noon pero fragile? That was not in her dictionary. Is there even a word like that?

"Well, sorry for the confusion, guys, but our cousin is an actress," Proud na sagot naman ni Kaevyn. "Kahit medyo na-disappoint ako ng slight nang magkacrush siya kay Saeji," mahinang bulong pa ni Kaevyn na pinapaalam talaga sa lahat kung gaano siya kadisappointed sa pinsan.

Napangiti na lang si Faye at napailing sa sarili sa mga pinagsasasabi ng mga pinsan. But it was a bitter one.

Kung usapang best actress lang naman, hindi ata siya ang papasok na best. Pangatlo lang siguro siya. The first would be Amara, while the second would be Kirth. Kung ikukumpara siya sa dalawa, wala na ata siyang kalaban-laban.

Hindi niya kasi maiwasang isipin na ang taas-taas ng tingin sa kanya ng mga pinsan even his Tito Kevin and Lolo Kenji, yet she was only a disappointment in the end.

She caused her mother's death. She caused her father's imprisonment. She caused her cousins to be in danger. And she made her Lolo, Tito, and younger brother, who was still a child, suffer.

It's all because of her stupidity. All because of her idiotic love. All because of that man.

The reason for her stupidity, the receiver of her idiotic love, the guy who was the reason and because of her demise. For her, Kirth is not a simple enemy. He was her untamable nemesis. Her unescapable nightmare.

Her nightmare nemesis.

She thought, having been reborn, having the privilege of knowing what was to come, she was already formidable. She could already predict her enemy.

But up until now, she couldn't compete with her nemesis. Not even paired up to his level. Kahit na nakapag-rebirth na siya at lahat, she was still a loser compared to him.

Thinking this, she couldn't find her sleep anymore.

Sighing, she opened her eyes and was stunned when she saw the same eyes staring at her. Ilang segundo ring hindi niya malaman ang ire-react niya.

And when she did, it was already too late as the guy wasn't looking at her anymore. Napapaisip na napaubob na naman siya sa mesa at pumikit. What the hell's wrong with that guy?

Hanggang ngayon nga ay hindi pa rin nasasagot kung bakit pumasok na agad ang lalaki samantalang dapat ay sa susunod na linggo pa sila unang magkikita.

Did her rebirth really, really change the course of what should happen in the future as what she could remember? She wasn't sure of it anymore. Well, she could pretend that was the case, but the problem she could think of in return is how dangerous could it be the effect or the change that would occur when she tried changing what was supposed to happen.

Magiging maayos ba ang lahat o mas lalong lalala?

Thinking that, the ease she felt when she knew that she had rebirth and had a chance to change the course of her past life was all gone and changed into doubt and uncertainties. And there's a bit of apprehension about everything.

F*ck. She thought resurrecting was a good thing, but now all she thought of it was another escape from the impending death that would soon happen.
