A cruise liner was moving slowly in the dark.
Under the dim light of the deck, Agnes Gilbert collapsed on the ground.
Her hands were pressing on her stomach, trying in vain to stop the flowing blood.
She could no longer feel any pain, and her eyes were beginning to dilate.
She exhausted her last strength, looking up at the man holding Flora Stern.
"Malcom, have you ever loved me?"
Malcom Jenkins gave her a venomous glare, and replied: "Love? Ha-ha! Do you think I would have married you, a w***e pregnant with an illegitimate seed, if it weren't for the shares in Jenkins Group? "
Flora shot a contemptuous glance at the dying Agnes, and cruel words came out of her flaming red lips.
"Do you still remember the car accident two years ago? Well, it was not an accident. It was part of the plan of me and Malcom’s. "
Agnes's pupils dilated with shock.“H-ah-h-h-h-ah...” Agnes felt like an invisible hand was strangling her, and all she could say was to make those short, strangled sounds.
She was seven months pregnant when the accident happened, and was expecting twins, a boy and a girl. Her mother died in that accident, trying to save her. The two babies died in her womb. Only she barely made it.
Flora gave Agnes another blow while relishing her desperation.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. I'm actually your half sister, but your mother was such a tigress that our father had to hide me and my mother from you."
"No... no..."
Agnes kept shaking her head, refusing to accept the cruel truth.
"Ryan was so sweet to you. He took nothing from the divorce and left the whole fortune of Jenkins Group, worth hundreds of billions dollars, to you." Malcom gritted his teeth and said, "as soon as you are dead, Jenkins Group would be mine."
Flora nestled against Malcom's chest, and trampled on Agnes’s stomach with her heels. She spoke with a grim expression.
"Agnes, you are in my way, and your child is in my child's way. Time to die!"
Before she finished these words, Malcom and Flora lifted Agnes and threw her into the sea.
Icy water poured in from all directions. Agnes didn't even have the strength to struggle and kept sinking.
She was beset by despair, like the way she was surrounded by the vast sea.
Hatred!
She didn’t expect that the man she loved with all her heart would cheat on her, let alone murdering her.
She didn’t expect that her cousin would turn out to be her half sister, that she had been scheming to murder her for her money.
She would get back at them even if she died and became a ghost!
Suddenly, Agnes felt she was hugged by someone, and then there was air in her mouth. She was rising.
With a splash Agnes’ head was already on the surface. She opened her eyes, and by the dim starlight, saw a handsome face.
It was Ryan Jenkins.
Her ex-husband, and Malcom's youngest uncle.
His cancer was terminal, and the doctor decided that he would not live for three months.
Ryan looked hollow-eyed and bony, and his eyes were full of concern for her.
"Agnes, are you okay...ah--"
With his scream, Agnes felt Ryan's body suddenly pulled down by something, and at the same time, she was pushed away violently.
Before she could react, she felt a sharp pain in her leg and was pulled into the water again.
There came the smell of blood.
……
"... help! Help!”
Agnes woke up screaming. She sat up suddenly and gasped for air.
She felt so dizzy.
"Agnes! Agnes! You woke up! You scared me to death! " Miranda Gilbert hugged Agnes tightly while wiping her tears.
Agnes was shocked. She exclaimed with her eyes wide open, "Mom?"
Didn't mom die in that car accident two years ago?
Miranda breathed a sigh of relief. She wiped the sweat from Agnes's forehead and gently comforted her: "You silly child. Why did you have to take your own life? You can tell me anything you want, and we’ll figure it out together. I don’t know how to live on if anything should happen to you."
Agnes opened her mouth, but said nothing.
Did she just come back in time?
She bit the tip of her tongue hard. And it hurt!
It was true!
She was back to the day of her engagement with Ryan.
On that day, she had tried to commit suicide, knocking her head against the wall. It was for that jerk, Malcom, that she had done it, The two families had been close friends for three generations; Agnes and Ryan had known each other for twenty years. And her action that day was a betrayal of all.
Ha!
Even God thought she died too cowardly in her last life, and gave her a chance to start over.
In this life, she would seek her revenge! An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. She would make Malcom and Flora pay for everything they had taken away from her.
The door of the ward was pushed open, and Flora came up to them with quick steps.
"Agnes, you are awake at last! You scared us to death.”
Agnes’s breath almost came to a stop. Hatred filled her whole body and mind.
What a half sister!
Her good father, Nick Lesser, famous among friends for his selfless love of wife and daughter, had an illegitimate daughter of the same age as her! And he had kept this from them for 20 years!
The live-in husband brought his illegitimate daughter into his wife’s house, told her she was only a relative, and gave the best to her using his wife’s money! What a nice father!
There was a moment when Agnes had an urge to jump at her, strangle her, and kill her.
No!
That was far from enough!
She would not let Flora and Malcom, these two sons of bitches, die so easily. That would be too easy for them.
Flora sat by the bed and said to Miranda: "Miranda, you should go have some rest. I’ll be here."
Miranda sighed wearily: "Flora, please keep her company and bring her to her senses."
As soon as Miranda left, Flora began to stir things up.
"Agnes, after you attempted suicide at the engagement party this morning, Jason Jenkins was so angry that he had a cerebral hemorrhage. He just had an operation and is still in ICU."
After taking a stealth look around, FLora approached Agnes and began to talk under her breath.
"You should tell Ryan that you want to visit Jason. And when you reach Jason’s ward, just make another scene. Trust me. Jason can’t take another blow, and the Jenkins family would have to break your engagement with Ryan by then. "
Agnes glanced coldly at Flora and said with sarcasm: "If anything should happen to Jason, it’s not only my engagement with Ryan that will be broken, but also my relationship with Malcom."
Flora broke their eye contact for a moment and said with an awkward smile: "Jason doesn’t have many years left, given his age. You are still young, and you can wait him out. After Jason’s death in three or maybe five years, there would be no one there to stop you from marrying Malcom."
"Besides, Ryan is determined to marry you. If you don't burn your bridges, you would only end up marrying him. Then you and Malcom..."
Flora paused for a moment and gave a meaningful look to Agnes.
Agnes shot a glance at Flora’s eyes and caught in there a trace of malicious envy.
In her previous life, she thought that Flora’s support of her was genuine, so she confided in Flora.
When things between her and Ryan were at the worst, Agnes, isolated and helpless, had followed every piece of Flora's advice.
Now it seemed that Flora pretended to help only because she was anxious for money. Once Agnes became Mrs Jenkins, Gilbert Group would merge with Jenkins Group. And then there would be no family business left for Flora to inherit.
Flora sneered secretively. This brainless fool had nothing except a beautiful face; she was at the mercy of me, Flora thought to herself.
"Agnes, remember. You must make a scene tomorrow. A big scene. The more the Jenkins hate you, the more likely your marriage with Ryan will be canceled. "
Agnes waved her hand and said impatiently, "I'm going to sleep now. I have a headache."
Flora emphasized again and again that Flora should make a scene, and left without feeling assured.
As soon as Flora left, Agnes' phone rang up.
Agnes lifted her eyes from the phone idly, and one could detect a trace of coldness in there.
Huh, another liar in position.
