MARCO’S POV
“You’re here.” I pull her closer to me because, honestly, I can’t believe she is really standing next to me in this dilapidated excuse of a front yard. We watch as the Elders pull away down the gravel drive. I can feel her body tense; she doesn’t trust them and shouldn’t. Goddess, I love her instincts. She didn’t buy into their caring act and the fake pleasantries. She is nothing but a breeder to them, and I am not going to let her out of my sight. She is here, and she is mine.
“How about something to eat? I mean, it’s not a fancy pack house, but I can make a decent meal.” I watch her face as she thinks about my offer, and I fight every urge I have to kiss her right here.
