Run.
Run. Run. Run.
That’s what I did.
That’s what I must do.
I was scared. Frightened. I had to run. As far as I could.
I looked back and continued running. I could feel my legs had reached their limits. But I had to keep going. I almost ran out of breath and then I stopped.
Something was stopping me. An invisible was preventing me to go even further. Hindering me from escaping. “Help! Someone, help!” I screamed while punching mu knuckles on the wall. “Somebody, please save me!” Tears escaped my eyes. Wetting my cheeks.
I had to go. I must leave. I had no place here.
Until I felt a strong grip on my shoulder, turning me over as the person pinned my hands on the wall.
No.
I closed my eyes, refused to see my captor. Although I knew who he was. The nightmare. The darkness chased over me. My body was trembling. My heart was pounding loudly. “Please… Please, let me go,” I begged without looking at him. And then I felt his hand on my chin and rising it up.
“Look at me,” he demanded. His tone was dangerous. Full of authority. Poisonous.
I shook my head. “Please.”
“I said…look at me.”
“No, just please.”
I heard him smirked. “You are always so stubborn.” Without any warning, he smashed his lips to me. Biting my lower lip. Demanding access. Forcefully. I couldn’t do anything. I was trapped. There was no escape anymore. I couldn’t run anymore. Not when he was already this close.
“You are f*****g mine.”
I immediately opened my eyes. Looking straight to the curtain of the canopy bed. I looked around as I was laying on the massive queen’s size bed. I glanced to the side where I found a huge space of a room.
Raising my body slowly, wondering how I got here. I looked down at my bed, feeling the soft and warm mattress with my hand. I looked to the back and found a mirror as I was staring straight at my own reflection.
Sandy blonde hair with shoulder-length and a pair of arctic blue eyes. Pale skin with pink thin lips.
I moved my body closer to the mirror as I raised my hand to touched my reflection. Looking at it, an image suddenly flashed in front of me.
Blood.
Blood was everywhere as I held my head with both of my hands.
Run, I heard someone said that. But who was that?
My head hurt as I lowered my head to the pillow. I felt like a hammer was punching my head multiple times where I moaned in pain. “Stop.” Those images were still playing in my closed lids.
Blood. Someone was there, including me. I was screaming. And that was it. The images stopped. The pain slowly decreasing as I tried to adjust my breathing. My chest heaved. Inhaling and exhaling slowly and once I settled in, I looked at my reflection once again until I decided to descend the bed.
My feet touched the soft cream carpet and I circled the bed. Looking outside where the sun shone brightly. I saw a sofa chair next to the bed but my eyes caught on the painting behind it. A paint of two baby angels kissing the lady’s cheeks wearing a long white gown. Beautiful. While I was looking at it, my eyes cast to the side. To the table lamp where I realized there was a baby angel on it as well.
I liked it.
Then, I went to the single large bathtub with, again, another baby angel decoration. I wondered if the owner of this house favored angels. I touched the ceramics until I heard something outside. A large bump coming outside of the door. I slowly walked towards it, passing some of the living plants, and stopped at the door. Slowly leaning my ear but there was nothing. No voice. I touched the knob, slowly turning it, and opened the door.
I peeked outside but no one was outside. Looking right and left. The hallway was empty and I stepped out of the room. By walking through the hallways, I realized something was different. The outside was different from the bedroom. It was bright and appeared alive, but here…it looked and felt like death. Light brown wall with dim lights.
I reached the foyer and I was on the second floor. No one was there. I saw the entrance door and my mind instantly telling me to go downstairs and head there. Once I reached the door, I stopped, thinking if this was the right decision. My heart was beating. I didn’t know what I found if I stepped out now but I had to know where I was. I didn’t even know how I got here.
As I was about to touch the handle, someone’s hand stopped me by pushing his hand on the door first. Instantly making me remember the dream I had before I woke up.
You are f*****g mine.
But instead of fear I felt back at my dream, I felt protected. I could hear the sound of rapid breathing behind me as I slowly turned around. Only found a man, with brown hair and a pair of hazel green eyes. Lightly tan skin and his face was…extremely handsome. Lightly bearded, small nose, thin slightly pink lips, square jaw, making him looked fierce. He was wearing a black linen shirt. But even though he appeared beautiful, his aura appeared so dark and dominating.
I took too long looking at this beautiful strange man until he let out his thick and hoarse voice, “You are awake.” Blinking my eyes as I continued looking at him. He slowly raised his hand, again the same image as my dream.
Look at me.
I was about to close my eyes until I felt his touch on my cheek. Rubbing his finger gently. Softly moving his thumb like he was scared that he might hurt me.
“You’re finally awake,” he said again. The tone of his voice sounded sad and happy at the same time. But something caught my attention. Confused about what he was talking about.
How long had I been sleeping?
And this man, who was he?
His lips formed a smile where I felt the beat inside me. He pulled me close, practically hugging me. I could hear his heartbeat. So fast and a beautiful sound. He rubbed my head and said, “I was worried. But now I’m so happy that you’re finally awake.” His voice trembled a bit. I shyly raised my hands to wrap around his rigid back. Some questions appeared in my mind.
Where was I?
What happened to me?
Who was this man?
Also…
Who was I?
