“Capo, do melmaids in the ocean exist ol only people like us?”     He asked, his eyes shining brightly as he looked up at her, blinking several times as the harsh sun light hit his eyes. He was following her around like a lost puppy and asking a lot of questions which as always, brought a smile to her face. He was young and adorable, how could anyone get annoyed at him. He was her best friends’ son that she loved so dearly.     She laughed. He couldn’t pronounce the letter ‘r’ which she thought was the cutest thing about him. She took a seat on the wooden chair in front of him and replied. “The population of mermaids in the sea creatures’ would be around thirty seven in a hundred”            “Have you seen one befole?!”He widened his eyes with excitement and amusement.             “Yes and I have and you should stop talking about them.” She laughed, pinching his nose and moving her ponytail behind her shoulder. It wasn’t long at all anyways.      Another question got out of his mouth followed with the same curiosity as before. She looked around, realizing that she had a lot to do and couldn’t be having fun with Alex.             “But what’s the diffelence between one hundled and thilty seven? Which one is highel.”     She frowned, thinking of an answer that would stop him from asking too many questions. She knew it was boring for him to be the youngest boy on the ship but there was another girl younger than him by a year and he was too shy to play with her. Maybe she should push him to her sometimes. She smiled as an idea popped in her mind.      “Go write the numbers on the board I gave you on your birthday. I will see it when you finish.”     She grinned, finally finding a way to distract him. He nodded and took off running to his room.      Amelia huffed, stretching her arms and heading to her best friend Flynn. He was dealing with some ropes and she decided she would help him. Flynn was Alex’s father, it was what made her love the little kid even more. The bond she and his parents had was strong and Alex was born to love and see her as his godmother.      She stood next to him, looking down as he was struggling with a knife and trying to chop down some burnt pieces of the rope.      Amelia raised her head startled as she heard someone right next to her. She felt a tap on her shoulder, giving her a hint on who it was.      “Haigh, senorita” Mikayla laughed, greeting as she was looking at her friend’s surprised face. She then bent down to the chair her husband was sitting on and gave him a kiss.    A disgusted expression formed on her face as she looked around. Couldn’t she at least wait for her to start working and then they would have one of the make out sessions Amelia could have sworn they couldn’t live a minute without.      She snatched the rope from her friend and chose a seat far from the duo, her mind drifting away. Love? She always wanted to feel what it was like. The same thing her parents had. But it seemed almost impossible for her as she had given her life to the beach, her crew and work.     A groan left her mouth as she realized it was the same knife one of the women had told her was old and she was thinking of throwing so it wouldn’t ruin some of their work. But it was late as she had already cut her thumb. Her arm raised, her palm went back and then quickly, she threw the bad knife in the sea. She grabbed her handkerchief from her dress’ pocket and wrapped it around her thumb, coating the insides with a few drops of blood.      She grabbed another knife from Tom, another man on the ship and finished her work easily.      Her head spun around to the side as she heard a little voice calling out to her. “Lia!”she smiled as she looked at him, not having to lower her head since she was sitting. “I have finished” he exclaimed.      “That was fast!” She squinted her eyes at him, faking a funny suspicious look to make him laugh.             “And did I imp-im-impless you?”he asked having a hard time spelling the word which made her chuckle. Could his way of talking get any cuter?             Her hand went through his sandy blonde curls, ruffling them like she always did. “Yes” She pecked him on the cheek. “You did impress me little capo.”     She observed his expressions, knowing the nickname would surprise him. His jaw dropped as his eye widened in happiness and disbelief. A happy cry left his mouth.             “Mommy, Daddy! Hear what Capo said!” He yelled, running to his parents and opening his arms widely.      Amelia muted them out and stared at the beach. One thought was on her mind. One that made her happy and excited for what was about to happen next. It finally happened.            They had arrived to England.
