The Christmas Cave Grams Mary painstakingly placed the finishing touches on the annual Christmas creation the family just called “The Gingerbread Cave’. Her grand-daughter Christy watched intently. Unlike the traditional gingerbread house, this featured three walls, open in the front, with a curved top. Gray icing covered the inside of the ‘cave’, except for the floor which had thick, curly green icing. The outside had brown icing. Inside sat a small candle which would be lit for the duration of Christmas day before being blown out. Two small handmade dolls, one that was very primitive in its creation, the other, store bought, stood inside the cave. Christy watched patiently until Gram Mary completed the finishing touches.
