Chapter 1: Criminal Assistance (1)
***
"The criminal is targeting women, specifically aged 20 to 25 years old, with long black hair and fair skin. The murders are also done in a very particular manner as their hearts have been removed each time. We have great reason to believe this serial murderer is a man with medical background, as the wounds that have been created have been sewed back after the hearth had been removed." The chief of the police, Mr. Bernard Gill spoke with a powerful and commanding voice.
"We had attempted to pose a trap for the criminal but failed time after time..." Bernard paused for a bit and sighed as if he really didn't want to say the next sentence. "Which is why the higher ups have decided we need some assistance with this case... I'll introduce to you a convict Irene Blake... or better known as The Male Slasher."
At the mention of that name many of the police officers stood on edge while watching the door that carefully oppened and then came the man in question.
"Hello everyone! I'm Irene Blake but you all can just call me Irene if it suits your fancy~ I don't like being called Mr. Blake as it sounds incredibly stupid and don't call me convict or criminal cause it's rude... Alright?" Irene said as he smiled at the men in the room. At first glance he didn't seem threatening at all, he was a rather petite looking man, he didn't have well defined muscles either and his gentle fair and fair skin might have easily tricked you into thinking he was a woman. But it was more than that, his carefree and lighthearted demeanor made him seem like someone you'd want to protect, instead of someone you want to protect yourself from.
"Now men... I don't believe I need to say this but Irene here has been convicted of over ten murders and he's swindelled over 1,5 million dollars in his few years of crime before being captured... for the fifth time after escaping the other four..." Bernard's expression turned sour the more he spoke about the man next to him. "Even though he's assisting us with this case, he is still a convict and you should be careful around him." He concluded.
"Aww~ Chief! You talk about me as if I'm all scary and s**t!" Irene smiled ever so beautifully, some of the officers on duty could imagine the man having angel wings on his back.
"The thing is... I only murder bad people! Like few murderes and rapists that are now dead because of me. So in truth I'm really doing you all a favour and making more room in the already full prisons. Hahaha..." Irene giggled ever so cheerfully.
"He's a lunatic..." One of the officers remarked in a quiet voice.
"So... Irene will be partnered with..." Bernard took a look around the room, he needed a man that had a few years behind his back and was capable of looking after someone as dangerous as Irene. He observed his team carefully and finally rested his eyes on one of the officers. "Maybe you'll get along with Fra-" Before he could say anything however the man standing next to him spoke up.
"I want to be partnered with that guy!" Irene said as he pointed to one of the officers at the very back near the windows. "It's either him or I'm not helping you anymore." He stated his ultimatum.
"Hm? You mean officer Tyler... He's a good pick." Bernard took a look at the man. "Alright Sebastian Tyler, you'll be the one partnering with Irene. Hope you two will be able to work together." He said.
"Yes, sir." Sebastian didn't seem to have much reservations for the parring, at least not outwardly. However on the inside he seemed irritated...

"This is so cool!" Irene said as he held onto Sebastian's arm as they walked through the corridor following the chief.
"Sir... may I speak with you for a moment? In private..." Sebastian asked as he glanced over at Irene who's been stuck to his arm since before.
"Whatever you want to speak about, you can speak in front of the convict..." Bernard said as he sighed a bit too loudly. "In the end he's going to find out on his own..." He continued.
"I don't believe it's wise to use a criminal for the investigation, you said it yourself it's dangerous and-" Sebastian was interrupted by the chief officer stopping in front of the door to his office.
"Irene won't be in any danger... There will be an entire patrol of officers at the ready to save him if the murderer does show up." Bernard said as he opened the door and invited them inside.
"Chief, why exactly did you decide to make a deal with a criminal? How are we even supposed to trust someone like him?"
"Oh, you can trust me! I'll be good for you!" Irene said with a cheerful voice, finally letting go of the man's hand, then turned to Bernard with a much more menacing look in his eyes. "Though I can't say the same for the rest of the police scum... I might even find enjoyment in making you all run around in circles..." He then in an instant reverted to his cheerful looking expression as if nothing had happened in that split second. If you were to blink you would have missed it, but it send shivvers down Bernard's spine and it confused Sebastian to no end.
"He... has a problem with authority as you can see..." Bernard remarked while turning to Sebastian. "But if he's saying he'll listen to you then he will, he's not a lying..."
"Sir? What do you mean he's not lying? He's known for deceiving people without a second thought for-" Sebastian was interrupted once more.
"Sebby... you're so mean!" Irene said as he sighed a bit too loudly as to take the attention back to him. "I don't need to lie to steal money from idiots... So I don't make it a point to lie at all. If you still don't think you can trust me though, I guess I'll just have to prove I'm a valuable asset to your team."
"See? Try to get along with him. Now then the two of you can leave my office. Go and have some team building time or something..." Bernard said as he gestured with his hand for the men to leave.?
"Sir..." Sebastian stood up feeling a bit hopeless at the situation. "He's..."
"Oh grow up officer..." Bernard said with a stern voice. "Maturing is realizing you can't do everything on your own, sometimes we need other people on our side... Even if they're like him..."
With that both Sebastian and the criminal headed out, Irene was following after the man like a puppy, he looked excited to the point you could easily imagine a tail waiving behind his back...
"Do you enjoy crossing that much?" Sebastian asked while not turning back to even glance at the man, he walked forward at least three steps ahead of the petite msn behind him.
"Quite a bit actually... Why though? Do you want to see me in a dress?" Irene asked with a more seductive type of excitement filling his voice. "I wouldn't mind doing it if it's for you..." He continued as he finally caught up to the man and looked up to him, trying to meet his eyes.
Sebastian turned to look at the criminal. "No... you just seem familiar to me somehow, so I was wondering if I'd seen you before." He replied with a rather cold voice.
"Hm... Who knows? Maybe I've stolen something from you before... Though you're not a bad person, so I don't think I have." Irene said as he pretended to think, but he seemed to already have an answer, one he wasn't willing to share.
"How do you know whether I'm a good person or not?" Sebastian asked as he continued walking forward. He headed to the break room, heading straight for the vending machine.
"I can read minds." Irene said as he smiled at the man with such an obviously deceiving smile.
"As if..." Sebastian looked away again as he picked up his drink from the vending machine, it was a cold coffee.
"Haha... you instantly managed to tell..." Irene chuckled. "I can do the same thing with whether or not people are good... I can instantly tell when I look at them. And you're one of the good ones, so I like you." He explained as he looked up at the man with hopeful eyes. "Aren't you going to buy me a hot chocolate? I am your partner after all..." He said.
Sebastian sighed but obliged and put another coin in the vending machine to get the man his desired drink. "Here." He said while handing it to the man.
"Thank you so much, partner! This is going to be a great relationship between us, I can just feel it!" Irene said as he took his hot chocolate with both hands and brought it close to his chest as if it was something precious.
"You're really strange..." Sebastian offhandedly remarked as he tried to rummage through his brain to try and figure out where exactly he'd seen the man before...
