Training was grueling today. The sun was blistering hot, and I couldn’t stop my thoughts. They never truly stopped; Some days, they were just quieter. I wasn’t that lucky today. Calix had caught on to my foul mood, offering to spar with me. He knew I’d kick his ass, but he never minded being my punching bag. That was the type of friendship we had. He never pried, or asked why I was feeling a certain type of way, but he was always available…. Offering his assistance without needing an explanation. There is an emptiness in my heart as I walk through the door of my home. I just saw Calix, but it feels as if he’s been gone for a lifetime. The emptiness grows as I kick my shoes off and strip out of my sweaty clothes. Each piece lands in a different spot on the couch until I’m fully nude.
