The sound of my body smacking the ground followed by the tumble of the ladder feels like an earthquake despite only being about a ten foot fall.
The air is knocked from my lungs as I land flat on my back against moisture laden dirt. An involuntary cough escapes my lips, sending pain through my entire body.
Phantom jumps down to my aid, his boots smacking against the ground echo loudly through the large, empty space, but he pays no mind to silence. Milky white eyes slam shut as he focuses on my breathing.
It feels as if we’re in a dirt room. It smells of wet Earth and the faint scent of chemicals, making my stomach roll alongside the intense pain along the right side of my body.
