Things have been quiet here. Pack members have gotten back to their daily routines. Brooklyn has been with family every day, be it her father, grandparents, and myself. Brooklyn has spoken since she has been home, and it is a bit concerning. The pack therapist is sure that she will come around, but we just don’t know when. As glad as I am to have her home, I feel extremely guilty that I couldn’t protect her. Whatever Brooklyn went through, I have to share the blame, and I’m not sure how to deal with that.
Hey, Red………, you need to come to the hospital quickly. Melanie is awake.
I jump out of my chair and head down to the hospital. I run past Jax and see the doctor is leaving the room. “How is she?” The doctor sighs and runs his hand down his face.
“Alpha, she is healing, but slowly. I don’t think she has access to her wolf and I’m not sure why that is. I reached out to Dr. Smith at Eclipse Moon. This may have something to do with magic and he would be best able to come to that conclusion.” I nod my head and walk into the hospital room.
“Hey, Alpha. Fancy meeting you here,” Melanie chuckles. I sit on the edge of Melanie’s bed and hold her hand.
“How are you feeling?” Melanie looks at me and then looks out of the window. “Melanie?” She sighs and turns back to me.
“I miss Winnie. I don’t know where she is, but I feel empty without her.” I nod in acknowledgment.
“Hopefully, Dr. Smith will be able to help us figure out what happened to Winnie so we can get her back.” Melanie clears her throat and smiles.
“Where’s my Brooky? Sorry you have had to deal with her while I’ve been in here. I’m surprised she wasn't here when I woke up.” I’m a bit confused. Why would Melanie have expected to see Brooklyn here? “I’m actually surprised that Daniel hasn't been here as well.” What the hell……Daniel?
“Melanie, what’s the last thing that you remember?” Melanie looks at me with a confused expression.
“I brought Brooky home from school and Daniel visited for a bit.” I’m sure my shocked expression is visible to Melanie because she instantly looks concerned. “What’s wrong, Alpha?” I don’t respond to Melanie; I don’t really know what to say. “Kehlani……..what am I missing?” How do I tell Melanie that she and Brooklyn were kidnapped? How can I get information about what happened while they were away? When we found Melanie and Brooklyn, we found Malachi’s dead body in the room. How did Malachi end up there? We didn’t even see Daniel. Did Malachi get rid of him? There are way too many questions and no way to get the answers. Melanie does not remember anything that happened, and Brooklyn isn’t talking to anyone about anything.
The doctor walks back into the room while Melanie and I sit there. “Doctor, Melanie can’t remember anything she has been through. Is that normal?” Surprise crosses his face, and he checks Melanie.
“Hmmm…..this is an unexpected turn of events. We will have to see if there is any damage to the brain. We will also have to see if this has something to do with magic. If Melanie had her wolf, that would help her.”
“Alpha, I feel like there is something you aren’t telling me. Please, what happened?” I look at the doctor, and he hunches his shoulders. I’m not sure if I should tell her everything that happened. It may spiral her further and be more of an issue later. Melanie needs to know what is going on with her, but I’m unsure if now is the time.
“I will definitely fill you in. You just woke up so let’s wait a bit to make sure you are strong enough.” Melanie sighs and lays back on her pillows. This seems to have gotten a bit more complicated than it originally was.

“I’m sick of waiting! I want answers and I want them now!” Why is it so hard to find people to do what I ask of them? It always has to be a battle, and I’ve had enough. I have become increasingly frustrated over the past few weeks. I simply need a location, and that is proving to be a tough thing to come by. A knock on my door interrupts my inner tirade. “WHAT?!” The door squeaks open, and a small man comes creeping in.
“Sir, I think we finally have a location.” Finally, the reports have been confirmed. I turn to the man, ready to rip his head off if he doesn’t have the information that I need. The man cowers before me, but I don't care. I glare at the man and watch him shift from foot to foot. I swear if he doesn’t start talking soon, I will end his insignificant life. My patience has long run out, and I’ve had enough. “He seems to be across the pond. The pack is located in America.” America huh? I haven’t been there in a while, and there is no better time than the present.
“Get my bags packed and find housing near the pack. Get the jet prepped. I want to leave here in the morning.” The man nods and leaves the room. It has taken way too long to get a handle on this information, but now that I have, things will move quickly. With the location confirmed, I can finally get what I need. I have been working towards this way too long, and if I don’t find a resolution soon, the consequences will be astronomical. I need to make sure everything is ready and I can have what I’ve been working on for all of these years. I will get what was taken from me, and I will give what I owe. One way or another, I will get everything figured out, and I will have what I need to have to make this work. I will kill anyone who gets in my way of getting what I need. “Soon Jayden. Very, very soon.”
