Chapter 22

I’ve seen this guy here way too often. I wonder if he is here for the same reason as me. I’ve been scoping out the building Kehlani works in. It’s the closest I can get to her without approaching packlands. There is no way I could hang out around packlands without getting caught. I probably should have made nice with that witch and she could have helped me…….eh, not worth it.

This man has been lurking around and it is very suspicious. I decide to get as close to him as I can so that I can figure out what he is here for. “Jayden?” How would this man know about Jayden? Maybe it is just a coincidence. I mean it’s not like there is only one Jayden in the world. “Jayden Winters?” Oh hell no! Who is this joker and why is he looking for Jayden? I watch him hang up his phone and he looks around before making his move. He is walking in my direction, me hiding in an alley behind him. As soon as he gets within arms length, I grab him and pull him in.

“Please don’t hurt me. I have money if you want that.” He thinks he is being mugged, how funny. I’m sure people do get mugged in broad daylight, but why would I bother?

“Who are you and how do you know Jayden?” At the mention of his name, the man’s eyes get big. I stare at him, waiting for him to speak. His eyes start to dart around as if he is looking for a way out. “Speak vermin! I want to know what you know.”

“Uh….uh….I…..I can’t.” He is looking everywhere but at me. He is going to make me make a major move if he doesn’t answer me soon. “I’m no one,” he mumbles with his head down.

“What’s your name?” I can see the sweat start to bead on his forehead. He is scared as he should be.

“T…..t…..ta…..talon,” he stutters. I bet he is hoping someone will come and save him, but we both know that isn’t going to happen. “Please don’t hurt me. I don’t know anything. Please let me go.” His heart is beating a mile a minute. It sounds like it will pop out of his chest if he doesn’t calm down very soon.

“Well, Talon, you can tell me what I want to know or die right here, right now.” I make sure he can see the determination in my eyes. He gulps loudly and hangs his head in defeat.

“My master wants me to get Jayden Winters. I have been watching his mate, Kehlani.” Hmmm. I wonder who this master is. Who wants to get to Jayden so badly that they are having Kehlani watched. I just want to kill the b***h, I could care less what happens to Jayden. I mean it would work to marry Jayden once Kehlani dies. It isn’t like we don’t know each other or haven’t been together before. Deep down though, I really don’t want to do that. I would have to be a mother and I have no desire to put so much effort into someone else’s life.

“Take me to your Master.” Talon’s eyes look like they are going to pop out of his sockets. Whoever this master is, he has a hold on Talon that I find to be quite humorous. “Did you hear me?”

“I….I….I can’t do that. No one is to know he is here.” I grab Talon’s neck and give it a good squeeze while pulling him close to me.

“I want to meet your master and I mean it. I want you to call him and get me a meeting or I will rip your throat out right now,” I say through clenched teeth. I loosen up my grip to make sure I don’t kill him yet. He fumbles for his phone and he dials someone. I let him go completely and take a few steps back.

“S….sss….ssssir, there is someone here who wants to meet with you.”

“S…..sss….ssssir, there is someone here who wants to meet with you.” What the hell has this i***t gotten into this time. I swear I can’t find good help to save my life.I almost didn’t send Talon to take care of this, but who else would there have been to send. He has been watching that woman for a while now and it wouldn’t make sense to replace him at this point in the game.

“Why the hell would I want to meet with anyone? I didn’t send you there to make friends, I sent you there to secure Jayden. What the f**k do you not understand about that?” I roar out. I have no time for incompetence. I need people to do what I tell them with no issues or mistakes. All of a sudden I hear a bit of a scuffle. I can hear Talon yelp and the woman shuts him up. All of a sudden a woman’s voice gets on the line.

“We need to meet. We can help each other. If you don’t meet with me, I will have no choice but to kill your flunky.” Who the f**k is this b***h trying to tell me what to do. No one gives me directives, I hand those out. I should meet with the b***h just so I can rip her f**king throat out. I clear my throat and start to get happy about my plan.

“Fine. Have him bring you to me. If anything happens that I don’t like, I will rip your throat out without hesitation. Understood?” I can hear her breathing get heavier. She can talk a good game when she is threatening Talon, but dealing with me is a different story.

“I understand.” The call disconnects and I sit back in my chair. I wonder who this person is and what she can possibly do for me. I guess I will find out soon enough and then I will get to end her life. If she is good looking, I may have some fun with her first. Time will tell how this will turn out. Little does she know that she won’t live past today.
