Although they either never invented or else deliberately discarded self–propelled means of transportation—or perhaps because of this anomaly—the Letheans cultivated the arts as well as the observational, social and psychological sciences. Their urban centers were all small—none over a hundred thousand in population, most below ten thousand—and planned for the maximum of physical and psychological comfort.
