Alina’s POV
I know I should have gone away with him when he asked. I know I’m being stupid and irrational, wanting to wait until after my wolf awakens. I told him it was so I’d have my wolf’s strength on my side, but the truth is, it’s more than that. I might hate most of the members of my pack, but it’s still my pack—my father’s pack. For my wolf to awaken where I’m nowhere near them just feels… wrong.
Unfortunately, now he’s not speaking to me—or even looking at me.
There’s something going on between him and Kat—something new. Any time I start to approach him at school, I see his eyes nervously dart over to her, and then he recoils away from me. I glance at her, and she just smirks back at me—all too pleased with herself.
