Emmett
Berke helped me back into the palace and a few guards soon noticed us. They informed the doctor and took me to my room. With every step they took me further from her, I felt panic overtaking my mind. I could see the black mass surrounding Berke and swallowing her slowly. I have tried to fight against the guards and doctor to get back to her. My parents came, with Sébastien to my room.
- What is wrong with him? - our father asked the doctor directly while mom held my hand.
- Don't worry sweety, soon you'll feel better! - she smiled, but hide her worry with it. Sébastien walked to her side and put a hand on her shoulder.
- Everything is going to be okay mom. Emmett is a real fighter and this is just some illness. - as soon as he finished the doctor called them out of the room. Now was my chance! I got out of bed and grabbed my sword. I wanted to save Berke from the black mass that swallowed so many of my commanders and friends, along with myself. She must survive! When I wanted to leave my room, Sébastien blocked my way knocking out the sword of my hand. My brother, never was the best swordsman, but he was always quick witted and fast.
- Emmett! Go back to your bed immediately! - our father ordered but I shook my head.
- I must save her! - they looked at each other like I have gone crazy...
- Who? - mom asked and I grunt my teeth. I didn't want to spend time with useless explanations. Sébastien grabbed my face and forced me to look into his eyes.
Sébastien
- Doctor, what's wrong with our son? - mom asked and she seemed to be terrified. I could read her mind loud and clear. She was afraid of losing Emmett. He lost weight and had constant nightmares, and now this high fever...
- I've never seen something similar in our Empire...
- Is it some kind of exotic illness? Could he get it during his time on the warfield? - father asked and the doctor shook his head.
- Apart from the fever and weight-loss, there is nothing physically wrong with his Highness.
- Why is he delusional then?! - father asked now impatiently.
- Due to the high fever. We will try to take his fever down, and he needs to eat and rest well. Hopefully its nothing serious. - that moment Emmett rushed out of the room with a sword in his hand. I knocked the sword out and he looked around terrified.
-Emmett! Go back to your bed immediately! - our father ordered. Emmett shook his head and his hands clenched into fists.
- I must save her! - he whispered in a tone that sounded more like a growl than a human voice. I've heard our mother's thoughts. She was afraid that my brother gone insane. But she collected herself and asked calmly.
- Who? - Emmett grunt his teeth and kept looking at the corridors. I grabbed his face and read his mind. My heart skipped a beat. I could understand his fear and anger. Although I didn't know what was going on between them, but seeing someone important to you in that kind of danger... The doctor tried to approach him with a needle but I shook my head slightly.
- Emmett, go back to your room. There is no danger.
- Can't you see it?! - he shouted and I shook my head.
- I saw it brother, but everything will be okay. I'll find a solution, just go and rest. - Emmett didn't want to move but he suddenly collapsed, probably due to being exhausted. We carried him back and closed his windows and door. Taking all sharp objects out of the room I headed to Anne.
- Where are you going? - mom asked.
- What have you seen? - father asked as well curiously when there were only the three of us in the corridor.
- Promise me, you don't want to know. Emmett is like he has been possessed by something.
- Oh my God! My poor baby! - mom whimpered and tears fall from her eyes while dad couldn't react. Emmett has been through a lot, mostly because of our decisions and for the Empire.
- I might have the solution. Please let me try it.
- Whatever you want Sébastien. You have my permission. - father said and hugged our sobbing mom walking her back to their chambers. I ran to Anne's room and walked in without knocking. I saw Berke getting ready to go out and Anne calmly reading on her bed.
- Where is she going? - I asked and Anne smiled.
- I gave Berke a mission. - she looked mischievous and I already knew what was her plan.
- Princess Jane Emeral is really kind and beautiful, I've already met her in secret and have no problem with the engagement. - Anne's jaw dropped while Berke shrugged.
- I told you. - she took her coat off and Anne turned to me.
- What are you doing here by the way? You ran in like you have seen a ghost. - reading my expression Anne bowed her head and said in a low voice.
- I've told you all, but no one listened. - I kneeled in front of her and apologized.
- I hope it's not late yet, I'll never second guess what you tell me Anne. I need her help. - I said and she nodded. Anne got up and hugged Berke.
- Hey! What's wrong? - Berke asked and caressed her hair.
- You have a new mission.
- Tell me my Princess.
- Save my brother.
