Tina's POV
"Bastard!" The man stopped walking, but he continued afterwards. He was really a beast.
I headed back to my seat, took out my phone from my bag and called Khloe. I was still angry.
"Hello." Khloe answered.
"Hey Khlow. Can you do me a favor?" I answered, getting to the point.
"Hello to you too Tiney- tiny."
I sighed. "Khloe, I really need your help." I said, sounding defeated.
"What's wrong? Are you okay? Where are you?" She asked, now worried and serious.
"I'm here at Starbucks a-and I have a little problem. Yeah, this is just a minor conflict, but I still need your help. Please?"
"Okay, okay. I get it. I'm coming now. I'll be there in five."
"Thank you so much, Khlow."
"You're welcome." Khloe ended the call and I waited for her patiently.
Indeed, five minutes later, Khloe arrived. Taking a seat opposite me, she eyed my appearance. Her eyes were looking for the problem and she seemed to get what it was when she stared at my blouse.
She raised an eyebrow at me and pointed at my blouse. "How did this happen? Don't tell me you're that clumsy."
I sighed. "I accidentally bumped into someone. I forgot that I have my coffee with me and it spilled... on my blouse."
"Oh. By the way, why are you dressed like that?"
"I was supposed to apply for a job, as an Accountant specifically."
"You're looking for a job?" She asked excitedly. Why was she exited?
I nodded at her in response.
"Really?" She asked in that excited tone again.
"Yeah. Really." I said awkwardly.
"Come on. Let's go. I need to tell Mom." She said excitedly and stood up, dragging me outside.
"Where are we going? And what do you mean by you need to tell your Mom?" I asked once were outside.
"Don't worry about it. Just come with me." She said as she opened the door to her passenger seat and shoved me inside.
Khloe moved around the car and got inside the driver's seat and began driving to God knows where.
***
"Just stop asking and be quiet." Khloe said when I asked again for the nth time.
I sighed, defeated.
Moments later, Khloe finally announced that we had arrived. I looked outside and my eyes widened in amazement. We passed by the big gates with security guards and drove towards what looked like a garage.
When Khloe parked the car, we both got out. I walked towards the front yard of the mansion and smiled at the view in front of me. That was so beautiful. I felt Khloe watching behind me but I was so amazed at the beautiful sight in front of me that I couldn't take my eyes of it.
In front of the mansion was the most beautiful and grand fountain I had ever seen. Flowers in different kinds and colors were planted nicely in each side of the pathway leading to the foyer. Roses, lilies, sunflowers, daisies and other flowers in different colors. The grasses were so green and well- trimmed.
I slowly walked around and I felt Khloe watching me. She probably thought I was a kid who received the best gift ever on her birthday. Well, that was what I felt. I totally forgot about what happened at Starbucks. It completely vanished out of my mind.
I continued to walk around the front yard. There were white benches, tables and swings around and beautiful bushes near the fence. It looked like a park. There were also lamp posts around the mansion. I wondered how they would look in the night.
"You look like a kid who got the best gift ever on her birthday." I heard Khloe behind me. She was smiling at me.
I smiled back at her and asked instead. "Who planned and made these all?" I asked gesturing around.
"My brother, Axel, planned and made these all. He loves nature. He planted these plants and flowers when he was twelve. And for him, he wants to look our mansion like a park." Khloe laughed as she said the last sentence.
"That's why he decided to build a fountain. He even put these benches and tables, and swings around here." Khloe laughed again and I couldn't help but laugh along with her.
"When were kids, we always played here. He's the one who taught me how to ride a bike. We played hide and seek. He'll pushed me when we played on the swings. There are so many things that we have done in this place." Khloe smiled at the memory. She must really loved her brother.
To my confirmation, Khloe continued. "I really love him. He's my one and only brother. But things changed. People changed."
I frowned at Khloe when she said that. What did she mean by that? What changed? Who changed?
I stared at her, confused. I was about to ask her about it but then she cut me off.
"You know what, let's get inside now so you can change." She said as she dragged me towards the foyer.
Khloe rang the doorbell and the door opened to reveal a stunning woman in her fifties.
"Hey Mom." Khloe said hugging and kissing the woman who was no other than her mother.
As I looked at them, I felt a pang of guilt inside me. I missed my mom but the last time we talked on the phone was not the way a mother and daughter should talk. I thought I have to call her and apologize for my behaviour.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard Khloe's voice. "Tin, meet my Mom Sophia. Mom, this is Christina."
My eyes widened in realization as I looked at Khloe's mom. She was the woman who kindly returned my purse to me when I left it on my plane seat.
"I finally met you again, young lady." Sophia said as she hugged me. I stood there shocked as ever. I awkwardly hugged her back and said. "It's nice to meet you too... again."
"I thought you already forgot about me." She said as we broke apart.
"You two know each other?" Khloe asked.
"Actually, no. We didn't get our names when we encountered at the airport." Sophie answered.
"You're the woman who left her purse in the plane?" Khloe asked me.
I nodded sheepishly at her.
"You are really one careless and clumsy lady, Ms. Cruz." Khloe shook her head but she was smiling.
I rolled my eyes jokingly and said. "I don't know I am."
They laughed.
"Come on, let's get inside." Sophia said leading us to the living room.
The mansion was really something. Everything was beautiful inside. The walls were painted in a beige color with beautiful portraits and paintings hung on them. There was a giant spiral staircase leading to the second floor. The mansion had four floors in all.
The furniture was well- furnished and there was a giant LED TV attached to the wall in the living room. The couches and love seats were black with a small, round glass table and a flower vase on top of it at the center. There was also a fireplace at the right corner.
"Make yourself comfortable. I will make us some snacks."
"Thanks Mom. We'll just go upstairs so Tin could change."
"Change?" Sophia asked confusedly.
"Yeah. Change." Khloe answered pointing at my dirty blouse.
Sophia looked at me and said. "Oh right. Sorry I didn't notice it earlier. Take your time, sweethearts."
"Thanks, Mom."
"Thanks, Ma'am. "
Khloe and I answered at the sane time.
"Silly. Just call me Sophia or Sophie."
I smiled sheepishly at Khloe's mom.
"Right. Thanks, M- I mean, Sophie."
Sophie laughed and headed to the kitchen.
"Mom already loves you." Khloe said happily as she dragged me upstairs.
I laughed. I didn't expect that comment.
Khloe opened a door on the left part of the second floor. She opened the it widely to reveal a room with light blue- painted walls and pink queen- sized bed.
"Wow." I said in awe as I looked around the room.
"Close your mouth. Flies might get in."
I quickly snapped my mouth shout. Gosh, that was so embarrassing.
"This is so beautiful. " I commented.
"My parents love me." We both laughed at her answer.
"Wait here. I'll get you some clothes."
"Thanks, Khlow. You're the best."
"What are friends for?"
I laughed and Khloe proceeded to her closet to get me some clothes.
A moment later, Khloe came back and handed me a plain, black V- neck tee and a gray skinny jeans.
"The bathroom's there." Khloe said, pointing a door to her left.
"I'll wait for you here."
"Okay." With that, I went to her bathroom and was not surprised anymore when I saw the inside. That was what you got when you were a daughter of a wealthy family.
I removed my clothes and change into the ones Khloe gave me. After that, I fixed myself before I got out of the bathroom, with the dirty clothes in my hand.
"Oh. They fit you. I guessed we almost have the same size." Khloe said once she saw me.
"Yeah. And how about these?" I asked, showing her my clothes.
"Just leave it here. Our maids will take care of it. Come on, Mom is probably finished downstairs."
I nodded and walk with her downstairs. Khloe's assumption was right. When we got inside the kitchen, Sophie was already done preparing snacks which were cookies and apple juice.
"Oh, there you two." Sophie said once she saw us entering the kitchen- their extremely spacious and beautiful kitchen, complete with all tools and equipment.
Khloe and Sophie took their seats beside each other and I took one opposite them, my back facing the kitchen door.
The mother and daughter began eating their cookies while I just stared down at mine.
"What's wrong, sweetie?"
I quickly looked up at Sophie and to Khloe then back to Sophie again. I knew I was weird and they probably think I was. They were staring at me with confused eyes while I stared at them with my hesitant ones.
I opened my mouth, then closed it again, opened it again but then I snapped it closed again. Oh God, why was I not courageous enough?
I blew a breath and finally asked them. "Can I have a milk?"
They stared at me for a moment but then they suddenly laughed... so hard that they were clutching their stomachs and tears formed in their eyes.
I looked down and covered my pink- tinted face with my long hair.
"Oh my God. That was probably the greatest laugh, I've ever had. " Sophie said as she calmed down.
"That was so funny, Tiney- tiny." Khloe said but then she continued. "Seriously? It was a just a milk."
"I know." I quietly said.
Sophie giggled. "Okay. I'll get you some."
I smiled. "Thanks." Sophie stood up to open the fridge and got a carton of milk.
I looked at Khloe as she smiled at me. "What?" I asked, trying to sound angry.
She shook her head, still smiling and said, "Nothing. " then took a bite of her cookie.
"Here you go." Sophie said as she put down a glass of milk in front of me.
I smiled widely as I held my glass of milk and put it on my plate. I picked a cookie, dipped it on the milk and popped it in my mouth. I got another, dipped it again on the milk and ate it. I repeated the process on my third cookie and sighed contently. I missed this. I used to do this at home... back at the Philippines with my family.
"This is so good." I said then looked at them. But when I saw their faces, I smiled sheepishly. They were staring at me... with smiles lit up on their beautiful faces.
"You're so cute." I blushed at Sophie's comment.
"Why are you two... smiling?" I softly asked.
"My son, Axel also do that." Sophie answered, still smiling.
I didn't expect that answer but instead I asked. "Really?"
"Yeah. He's fond of milk. Even his coffee is so creamy. He really loves milk."
I smiled. That son of hers and I definitely had things in common.
"Enough of it. Tell me about yourself." Sophie said.
Sophie asked about me and my life so I told her what I told Khloe when we first met. From my self, to my family and my life in the Philippines.
"Really? You're an Accountancy graduate? "
"Yeah." I answered proudly.
"Have you applied already?"
I smiled sadly and was about to answered when Khloe cut me off.
"She was about to apply today. Unfortunately, she ruined her attire."
"I didn't ruin it. That bastard did." I defended.
"Okay. Stop it you two." Sophie scolded us and contained.
"So, that means you don't have a job yet."
I nodded. Sophie looked at Khloe and they seemed like having a silent conversation with their eyes while I just stared at them, waiting for them to say something.
"Alright." Sophie suddenly said, startling me.
"We'll help you get a job." My eyes widened in shock and surprise.
They will help get a job? Really?
I was about to ask her if that was really true but she cut me off.
"I'm not yet done, sweetie. Tomorrow morning, we'll pick you up at your apartment. Then, you'll come with us to Axel to give you a job. And let's just hope that they need an Accountant."
"Khloe's brother?" I asked to confirm if I really heard it right. I would be meeting Khloe's famous and probably hot brother, the one and only Axel Miller Evans?
"Yeah. You'll meet my son tomorrow."
I nodded slowly after I drank all my remaining milk. "Okay, I'll be ready tomorrow then."
"Yes!" They both exclaimed happily. Huh? What was up with them? Weird.
I have a feeling they're planning something.
"Let's go shopping?" Khloe suddenly blurted.
"Shopping? What for?" I asked.
"For your outfit for tomorrow, of course. "
I was about to protest that it was not that necessary but Sophie agreed.
"That's a good idea, honey. Come on, let us get dressed." Sophie said as she stood up and told the maids to clean up the table. Khloe and I followed her mom outside the kitchen and upstairs.
"You two should get dressed. Then, we'll wait for you outside?"
"We?" Who's also coming with us?
"Yeah. Victor, our driver and I will just wait outside. Okay?"
"Yeah, okay Mom." Khloe said as she dragged me inside her bedroom and to her walk- in closet.
"Woah." I said as she opened her closet. Her closet was like a fashion boutique. From the dresses to shirts, blouses, skirts, pants, shorts, pjs, jeans, heels, shoes and bags... they were all extremely expensive and beautiful. Oh right, she was a fashion designer. Silly of me.
"This will look good on you." Khloe said as she handed me the clothes. "Just get dressed here. We are both girls after all."
"Okay."
We both stripped from our tops and bottoms, leaving us in our underwear and changed into our outfits. Khloe lent me a beautiful, knee- length pink dress with a black belt. I frowned. When I went shopping, I didn't wear dresses. I was more into shirt and jeans.
"Why am I wearing dress and might I add a beautiful dress and you're not?" I asked Khloe. She was wearing a white crop top, black high- waisted jeans and gray converse.
"So that it will be easy for you try the dresses we picked." She reasoned.
Nevertheless, I nodded as I looked at her, putting her make up on. If I were her, I didn't need to put those things on her face. She was already beautiful. Well, she was beautiful with or with no make up on.
"Come here. Let me do your make up." Khloe suddenly said.
"No, no, no. No way. I swear, I won't go with you if you'll put anything on this ugly face." I moved away from her.
Khloe made attempts to do my make up but I always ran away from her. And finally she gave up.
Khloe just rolled her eyes and sighed. "Fine. Let's go."
I smiled.
When we got out of the mansion, Sophie and their driver were already waiting for us. Sophie was dressed in black simple dress that stopped at her knees. She really was beautiful even in that age of hers.
"Finally." Sophie said as she saw us.
"What took you so long?" She asked once we got inside their car. Khloe and me were at the back seat while Sophie sat at the passenger's seat. Viktor began driving to direction of the mall.
"Tin here don't want me to put
make up on her face."
I shrugged. "I'm not used to them."
"If she doesn't like it, then so be it." Sophie defended. I stuck my tongue at Khloe.
Childish.
"Kids." We heard Sophie muttered.
I realized I didn't introduce myself to Victor so I did. "Um. Hi Mr. Vic. I'm Christina by the way. But you can call me Tin if you want." I cheerfully said.
"You can also call her Tiney- tiny if you want, Vic."
I scowled at Khloe but she just stuck her tongue out at me. Seriously?
"Hello there. Tiney- tiny." They all laughed at me.
"I hate you all." I childishly said.
"We love you too, Tiney- tiny." They chorused, still laughing.
I groaned and covered both ears with my palms.
"You're so cute." Victor smiled at me from the mirror.
"Ugh. I'm not." I argued.
Victor laughed. "The young man will surely like you?"
I frowned. "Who's the 'young man'?"
"Axel, of course. Sophie told me you'll gonna meet him tomorrow for a job interview."
I swallowed. I didn't want to think about him. I was nervous and curious as well. What does he look like? Is he kind? I didn't want a mean boss. I just hoped he was good.
I was really nervous with a bit excitement. It was because I would finally meet my friend's one and only brother.
He was a guy. A one hot gorgeous man. Okay, stop right there. Don't think about him like that.
"Y-yeah. I'm gonna meet him tomorrow." Why was it that I was afraid to mention his name? And why was my heart beat so fast just at the thought of him?
This is bad. Really bad. Erase. Erase. Get him out your mind. Calm yourself. He's just a guy. Okay. That's it. You're fine.
"Tin Cruz. Come back to your senses!" I heard someone shouted startling me and pulling me out of my 'dangerous' thoughts.
"Yeah!" I squeaked and stood up only to bumped my head into a hard surface. That hurt. Right, I forgot we were still in the car.
"Sweetie, are you okay? We've been calling you for like minutes. We have arrived. What's wrong?" Sophie asked me worriedly.
I looked away to hide my blush. I wished my hair was down but Khloe insisted to tie it in a ponytail. "Y- yeah. I'm sorry for that. But I'm okay." I stuttered.
"Christine, are you blushing?" Who asked that? I looked to my side just to see Khloe's face so close to mine. I moved her face away from me.
"O- of course, I'm not. Why would I be?" Yeah, why would I be?
Stupid, stop denying.
"Why are you stuttering then?
She'll not gonna stop, is she?
"I'm nervous." I accidentally blurted out. There was no way out now. I was sure they would not believe me if I would say I was nervous to go inside the mall. So lame.
"Why?" This time, it was Sophie who asked.
"I'm gonna meet Axel." I finally said it. It was the first time I said his name. And it felt so good. What the hell?
Don't be so weird.
"It's just my son." Sophie frowned.
"I know. That's the thing. He's your son and Khloe's brother. It's my first time meeting him. And if I get the job, he'll be my boss. I don't know if he's a kind boss or not. I'm curio and nervous as hell. What if he's rude? What if he's so mean? What if he'll shout at me? What if I made a mistake, then he'll fire me? What if he's cold? And... what if I'll like him?" My last sentence was so soft but I knew they still heard it.
I looked at them just to see their eyes wide and mouths agape. Okay. I guessed they were shocked because I said that all in one breathe.
"Don't worry, sweetie. You'll find the answers tomorrow, okay?" Sophie said.
"Okay." I said softly.
***
I hated shopping... for clothes. Try this. Try these. Try that. Try those. Ugh. This store to that store. I hated it. My feet ached from all the walking... well dragging. I tried so many clothes and finally relief come over me when they said they were tired.
I was prepared to pay for all the clothes, but Khloe said something along the lines of "No need, I got these." I protested and protested but Khloe was so stubborn so I gave up. I didn't come here to be dependent. I chose to come here to be independent.
I expected Khloe to give her credit card or something but nothing. She didn't do anything. She just thanked the salesmen and the ladies in the store and walked out with the bags of clothes. I asked her about it and she finally said that she owned the store. And that explained it all. We then have lunch in some fancy restaurant.
After they dropped me at my apartment with the clothes Khloe got me, I quickly changed into a shirt and jeans and decided to go the park.
Something happened at that time. I considered it as a good one. Good, because I bumped into the bastard again and I finally taught him a lesson.
