CHAPTER TEN

736 Words
The rest of the drive to the airport was spent in silence, and I didn’t know if I should be grateful or apprehensive for that. When we got down from the limo I didn’t expect to see a private jet stretched out on a long runway. I was led inside by a female flight attendant who collected my bag as soon as I settled into my seat, she kindly asked if I wanted anything and I shook my head, a little intimidated by the grandeur. Mr.—I mean Grey and the driver stepped in a few minutes later and we buckled into our seats at the request of the pilot, this being my first time on a plane I sat as stiffly as I could until take off. Only letting myself relax when we were finally in the air. I want to say I spent my first time on a plane awake for the entire experience, but I nodded off as soon as I let myself calm down long enough to enjoy the experience. I was awoken by Grey some time through the flight in the early hours of the morning and he advised that I have a quick shower before we land, taking his advice because of the stink permeating from my body, I quickly showered and changed into a pair of washed jeans and a maroon sweater. Stepping out of the shower I admire the private bedroom I’m in, my hands delicately running over the silk sheets covering the large bed. There’s a small flat-screen TV situated in a glass cabinet on the wall, and a small wooden drawer beside the bed that holds the remote. I turned with a startle when the bedroom door slides open behind me, feeling like an intruder for letting myself get carried away with the extravagance. “If your done Miss Aurora, then please come out. I took the liberty of ordering you something to eat.” At the mention of food, my stomach growls and I couldn’t help but smile sheepishly in embarrassment. Smiling in return, Grey motions for me to step out and walks away. Quickly slipping my legs into my sneakers, I follow after him and feel my jaw drop at the sight of the food being served. Chocolate peanut butter bars, Farrow pilaf with mushrooms, white beans and kale, Roasted cauliflower and Brussels sprouts salad, Tomato ginger soup with crunchy chickpeas, Ginger molasses cookies, Quattro pie and a Bear claw. I gape at the spread-out assortment and wonder if they’re trying to feed an elephant. “Please, sit and eat Miss Aurora.” “I can’t possibly eat all these by myself, why don’t you guys eat with me?” “No thank you, Miss Aurora, we are perfectly fine.” “No please, I’ll feel uncomfortable eating all this by myself when I know I can’t possibly finish them all. I’m sure you two are both hungry so please eat.” “But—” “You work for the family you’re taking me to right?” His face takes on an expression of confusion but Grey responds anyway. “Well, yes I suppose.” “Then if these people are my family that means you work for me too, so as your boss I implore you to eat with me.” Smiling in amusement, Grey nods. “Touché.” He turns to the young driver and inclined his head towards the food. “Victor, Miss Aurora has requested we join her.” With a sigh, the driver, Victor, removes his sunglasses and mask to reveal his face and I couldn’t help the gasp of awe that slipped out of my lips. His straight nose is a little crooked as if it had been reset, and I wonder if it’s because he’d been in a fight. His full lips draw my attention next and they are an attractive shade of pink. But that’s not the most startling thing about him, the most startling thing is his eyes. The pair is a deep silver colour that compliments his unbelievably gorgeous face. Like, I’ve never in my entire life seen a person so blindingly beautiful before. It’s very intimidating just staring at him. “Thank you.” He bows formally before taking away a plate heaped with food and I blink a couple of times in shock. “Uhh, yo-your welcome.” “Thank you as well, Miss Aurora.” Grey mumbles, bringing my attention towards him, and I blush in embarrassment to see the knowing smile playing on his lips.
