WE ordered drive thru burgers and ate in Leonard’s car. I was hesitant to eat, but when Leonard started wolfing down his food, my stomach made a sound indicating that it’s hungry. Leonard chuckled and I started eating as he handed me my burger.
I couldn’t help but moan a little as I took a bite of the delicious burger. I don’t usually indulge myself with burgers so I am really enjoying it.
Leonard: “Oh, baby doll. Your moan does things to me.”
Aubrey: “Uhm, sorry.”
Leonard: “No, I like it. I just wish I’m the one who’s making you moan right now.”
I almost choked on my food and Leonard handed me a cup of soda as I coughed. As I drank the soda, he stroked my back. He took the cup back when I was done drinking.
Leonard: “Finish your food, baby doll. You wouldn’t want to be late for your next job, would you?”
Aubrey: “Uhm, of course not.”
We resumed eating and I took some fries as I finished my burger.
Leonard: “Why do you have to work two jobs anyway? Are you supporting your own studies? I can help you get a scholarship grant in my dad’s company so you won’t have to work so hard, you know?”
Aubrey: “Uhm, I have a scholarship. I work to support my family.”
Leonard: “You’re the breadwinner? Where are your parents?”
Aubrey: “Uhm…”
I wasn’t sure if I wanted Leonard to know about my family. At least not yet. I didn’t want him to pity me or look at me differently.
Leonard: “I’m sorry. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. I’m just curious.”
I smiled as I resumed eating my fries. We finished all the food within a few minutes. Leonard took all the wrapper and put them all together. We were parked at the fast food chain’s lot and he got out of the car to throw the wrappers away. As he got back to the car, he asked how much time I have until I have to be at work.
I looked at the time on the car’s dashboard and said “About 20 minutes.”
Leonard: “Okay. We still have plenty of time to do this.”
He put his hands on my face and pulled me towards him for a kiss. I braced my hands on his chest as he did. I was going to push him away, but the kiss was so pleasant and I ended up kissing him back and feeling his chest up.
I don’t know how long we were making out but when my eyes went to the car’s windshield. I jumped as I saw a man standing in front of the car, watching me and Leonard making out. As my eyes made contact with the man, I recognized him as Archie. His face looks really hurt and before I was able to do or say anything else, he was gone.
Leonard asked “What’s wrong, baby doll?”
Aubrey: “Nothing. I should head to work.”
Leonard: “Okay. You get out in four hours, right?”
Aubrey: “Yeah. Why?”
Leonard: “I’ll pick you up later and drive you home.”
Aubrey: “You don’t have to do that.”
Leonard: “Yes, I do. That’s what I want to do.”
Aubrey: “Okay.”
Leonard wanted to walk me to the door of the fast food chain but I declined. I didn’t know how Archie would react if he saw Leonard and me walking hand and hand towards the store.
He opened the door for me and gave me a tight hug. I hugged him back. Leonard is making me feel things that confuse and scare me. He also makes me feel good, so I plan to let things go as they are.
I walked towards the store with my head bowed since I’m not ready to face Archie yet. I don’t know what he’ll do or how he’ll react with what he saw.
I was thankful I didn’t see him and I headed to the locker rooms to change into my uniform. I put my hair up in a bun and put on a hairnet and my headpiece.
As I made my way out of the locker room, I was surprised to run into Archie. It looked like he was actually waiting for me to come out.
Aubrey: “Uhm, hi Archie.”
Archie: “Can we talk?”
Aubrey: “My shift’s about to start.”
Archie: “This will only take a second.”
Aubrey: “Okay, can you hurry up?”
Archie: “What are you doing with that man? And you’re kissing him?”
Aubrey: “Uhm, I don’t want to sound rude, but it’s none of your business, Archie.”
Archie: “I don’t think that guy is good for you. He’ll just play you and leave you once he gets what he wants from you.”
Aubrey: “Thank you for your concern. I’ll be okay.”
I was going to walk away from Archie when he took my hand and stopped me.
Archie: “Aubrey, I’m worried about you. Please be careful. That guy doesn’t deserve you. You deserve better.”
Aubrey: “Like who? You?”
Archie looked rattled as he let my hand go.
Archie: “Aubrey, I--”
Aubrey: “I like Leonard and he makes me happy. I like kissing him, and he makes me feel good. It’s my life and it’s none of your business what I do.”
I then turned around and walked away from Archie. As I was walking away, I felt guilty with what I just did. I don’t know why I got mad and snapped at him. I will have to apologize to him later.
I kept myself busy with work and before I know it, I’m at the last hour of my shift and there aren’t a lot of customers anymore. I took this opportunity to look for Archie and maybe talk to him. When I couldn’t find him, I asked one of my crewmates if he’s seen Archie.
Crewmate: “He left early today. He said he wasn’t feeling well. It was weird. He didn’t look sick. He’s never missed a day or gone home early especially when you’re here too.”
Aubrey: “Uhm, thank you.”
I felt sad as I might have just lost a friend with what happened earlier. Although based on how Archie has been treating me, he wants to be more than just a friend.
