Chapter 3: Showing Up Again

1131 Words
I woke up the next morning refreshed. My tear soaked pillow from last night had dried and with it went my last sob. I made a promise to myself that I would not cry over this anymore. It was not worth it. My father wouldn't just shove me off with some nobody who wouldn't treat me right. Whoever he chose for me was the right person, but does my father know me well enough to know which guy is good for me? Does he know which guy can make me happy? Does he know me enough to know who can take care of me?                 RING RING. RING RING. RING RING. "Hello," I answered the phone. "This is the front desk Ms. Aksan," The other side sounded. "I am calling to inform you that Mr. Heinrich Ulbrecht and his son have requested your presence for lunch." "Okay," I replied. "What time will that be at?" "Twelve thirty at the hotel's restaurant." "Thank you very much." "You are welcome," The person said before hanging up. I looked around my room and sighed. The room had beautiful wood floors and all the linens were either gold or white. I felt like I was in a palace and hoped my new home would be the same. The air was fresh and even though it was cold, the sun seemed to smile at me through my window. It felt like a day for a walk. I needed to do something. I needed to get out of the hotel room and outside with some fresh air. I had some money and thought a cup of coffee would be perfect and it would wake me right up. So, I jumped in the shower, brushed my teeth and hair, and got dressed. I made sure to grab my Polish beanie and fur lined jacket before leaving on my journey. "Excuse me," I called to a lady at the front desk. "Yes, miss?" She came over to me. "I have about thirty minutes," I started. "Where can I go to get a cup of coffee?" "About two blocks down is a nice little shop called, Wilfried Zessin. You will like the coffee there." She answered smiling at me. "Thank you," I replied and left for the shop. Once in the coffee shop, I was very happy, because it was warm. My nose was red from the cold, and I am sure my hair wasn't very attractive either. I looked like a mess, but a frozen one. "Can I help you, ma'am?" The front lady asked me as I walked in. "Yes," I walked to the counter. "Umm… I am new around here. Will you just get me something good, because I have no clue what I want." "Okay," She replied. "I think I have just the thing". She looked at my red nose intently. "Thank you," I smiled. "How much do I owe you?" "Nothing," The man from the airport walked up to the counter. "I will pay for it." I was so shocked I couldn't say no or any other word for that matter. What was he doing here? "You should not wear that beanie around here," He smiled at me. It was such a comforting and light hearted smile. It made me want to smile too. "You don't have to pay for me," I ignored his advice. "Please," He pushed my money aside. "It is the least I can do for the lovely company I enjoyed yesterday." I blushed, "Did you find your fiance?" "Luckily, yes," He answered. "Did the henchmen find you?" "Of course," I said. "Would you like to join me?" "I wish I could, but I am in a hurry," He said. "Okay," I replied, trying to suck back my sadness from the rejection. Deep down I wanted to get to know him a little. "Well, have a good day." "You too, beautiful eyes," He grabbed his coffee, and just like that he left me without his name... again, but why was I upset? He was going to be happily married soon, and I was also... hopefully. He was polite and very generous, and I am pretty sure Laiden would be too. He was extremely handsome in every way, shape, and form... Laiden would be too. I just felt so bad, because I knew deep down inside I wanted this airport man. I wanted to wake up in the morning next to him with him saying "good morning, beautiful eyes". I mean, isn't that every girl's dream? "Your coffee, miss," The lady said, handing it to me. "Thank you so much." I smiled, taking it. I found a comfy little chair and sat drinking my coffee, alone. It killed me that I didn't even know his name. What are the chances I would see him twice and still not know his name. Better yet, what are the chances I would even see him TWICE? Was this a sign from God that I was completely overlooking, because I wanted him so badly, that I needed to forget him, because I knew very well I would get in trouble with him. The things I would let him do to me would make a w***e blush, but why am I thinking these things? I don't know him... I don't know his name. He could be some perfectly polite pedophile from the streets that I am fantasizing about. Everything that I am thinking is completely absurd. He is probably some creepy pervert... with the most heavenly blue eyes I had ever seen. I don't care how corny it sounds, but I wish I could swim, no skinny dip, in his eyes for the rest of my life. Wait, stop mind, stop. I am getting sidetracked in my thought process, I am supposed to forget him, not go on about him further. I am meeting my future husband today. How great would it look if I was deep in thoughts about another man? I looked down at my watch noticing it was twelve fifteen and headed back to the hotel. I freshened up a bit before heading down to the hotel restaurant. "May I help you, Miss?" The host asked. "I am here with Mr. Heinrich Ulbrecht and his son," I answered. "May I have your name?" "Olesia Aksan," I replied. "Yes, right this way, Miss". I followed the host to a table with a lady. "Olesia Aksan?" She asked. "Yes, Ma'am," I replied confused. "I am Mr. Heinrich Ulbrecht's secretary," She introduced herself. "I am here to inform you that Mr. Ulbrecht will not be here today." "May I ask why not?" "His son had to leave on an urgent business meeting." "Why couldn't Mr. Heinrich Ulbrecht come?" I questioned. "I am sorry I can not release that information," She refused me. "But he has instructed me to invite you to dinner tomorrow evening at their home and ensures you, his son and he will be present." "Okay," I was upset at their absence. I was expecting to meet them today. "Thank you."
