*** For a brief second, time stopped still. Everything seemed to slow down to a crawl, and I was unable to do anything but look at Joaquin as he stared directly at me, a questioning look in his eyes. I felt like the world was spinning out of control already, and nothing was making sense to me anymore. Joaquin knew, and I had no idea how he came to know.
