8. Very Bad Idea

______________________________ . . . Paul was calling the Almighty as he swooped through the mildly crowded hallways after his best friend. "Shawty, you ain't thinking straight. This is dangerous!" He yelled at her but she wouldn't listen. "Come on babe, don't take his words to heart. He doesn't know his sister is dead yet and seeing something like that, he flipped. That's completely normal human behavior. You really don't have to behave like this. It's a bit overboard if you ask me." "Shut up Jackson.." She muttered as she pushed open the empty art room, only to find Max Harris and Kelly Nelson sucking faces. The two looked over like deers caught in the headlight but their faces turned to that of anger and irritation when they realized it was none other than the school freak. And Leah's face turned from that of embarrassment to that of suspicion and disgust when she realized it was those two, Sarah's boyfriend and best friend. "I will let you continue what you were doing." She rolled her eyes and closed the door behind her, leaving the two seniors utterly shocked. They didn't know the girl could talk, let alone talk like that. Leah went through all the places she could think of but Sarah's ghost was nowhere to be seen. She was just down at the quad when they were in the library and now she had disappeared. "Maybe she went out for an afternoon stroll?" Paul mused. He was levitating in the air, sitting cross-legged. "Come on shawty, leave it!" "No, I told him I will have answers by evening." "Well, he didn't exactly ask you to get him any answers for him. It was all you." Paul pointed out. His friend was being irrational right now. "Also, when you finally do find the answer, how do you plan to explain it to him? Or the cops?" He was going to be honest; he did want the body of the poor girl to be found. Her family was worried sick and he wished for them to just go through the pain and get over it than hurt and worry every single day not knowing where she was. Also, the ghost was in a very pathetic state; not able to see, hear, feel or interpret anything and she was also very overwhelming to him and his best friend. So, he did want her body to be found, but not at the cost of his best friend's health or secret. If she hosted the ghost when she was all riled up, she would collapse without a doubt. She used to collapse even when she was all relaxed and calm and prepared for the hosting. He didn't know what to expect when she was so excited and angry. And he also didn't know what to expect from a ghost whose mere presence overwhelmed the vessel and a fellow ghost. "Found her!" Leah exclaimed and Paul quickly turned around, breaking out of his thoughts. Sarah stood there at the end of the hallway, staring into nothing. "Bad idea." Paul said. "Very bad idea." Leah ignored him and move forward, feeling the air become thick and hard to breathe. Paul tried to follow suit but he couldn't even move forward. Her presence was too overwhelming. His eyes widened when he saw his best friend pick up pace and run towards the ghost. She collided with it and became one with it. And in a matter of seconds, writhed a little and fell to the ground unconscious. "No no no!" Paul swooped to her side as soon as the ghost's presence receded. She was unconscious but she was breathing. A kid, a sophomore, came out with his phone in hand. "Oh my god you guys, this freak just ran into the wall!" He exclaimed before he started typing away on it and then pocketed it after he posted it on the school website. He knelt down beside her. Paul had half a thought to possess the jerk and make him run into a wall but he really couldn't blame the kid. A person without paranormal vision was sure to think she had run herself into a wall. And possessing people without a strong reason was sure to land him in major trouble with his best friend. Another boy came out of the classroom, this one a little more sensible. "She's unconscious. We need to take her to the nurse's office." "What she needs is a psychiatrist!" The first one exclaimed. "That her parents will deal with. Now help me." The second one rolled his eyes and lifted her up with ease. She was light and he was a hunk. "Never mind," He said as he made his way to the Nurse's office, catching the attention of many who had already seen the video of her running through the corridor, the last bit the kid had caught before he went out to find her unconscious. "I am starting to think she isn't a freak but mental!" One girl commented as she watched the boy walk into the Nurse's office with an unconscious Leah. "She must be going through something that must be making her delusional or something." Another one replied, sounding a bit more sympathetic than the first one. Paul blew out a breath as he stood in front of the Nurse's office, hands on hips. "What the hell was she thinking?" . . . "What the f**k was she thinking?" Tristan Brown guffawed as he threw his arm around his best friend, laughing. The squad was at the parking lot, talking among themselves after school. Calum didn't know what to think. He felt stupid for even thinking for a moment that the freak knew where his sister was. But she sounded so sure and determined when she told him that she will tell him where his little sister was in the evening that he believed her and was hopeful, though the words on the back of her book still scared him. His sister wasn't dead. The girl was crazy. She ran into a wall. She was just delusional and came to the worst conclusion because Sarah had been missing for over a week. He had nothing to worry about. His sister was just messing around and would be back home soon, safe and unharmed. "Calum!" His head snapped to the side and he got off the hood of his jeep, alarmed as he watched Leah Wayne hurry towards him, her hair disheveled and looking like she would pass out any second. "If it isn't the freak!" Natalie Blake, the head cheerleader exclaimed while the others laughed but Calum felt nothing but dread as she closed in. "What?" He whispered. "It's a tree house." She panted, seeming dazed. "I don't know where it is, but she is in a tree-house with worn out blue paint." Calum felt his heart stop for a moment. The tree house was in the woods connected to their estate and there was no way in hell this girl could have known of its existence. But then how did she know? And if she knew about it, maybe she was telling the truth about his sister being there as well? But did that mean, she was right about her being dead? He nodded though he didn't want to because all of a sudden, he felt in his heart that his sister was indeed dead. He let out a deep breath and looked her in the eyes. "Let's go." . . . _____________________________
