Chapter 3Near the end of the second party, the brunch at the local cafe with her girlfriends, Melissa saw the second demon. It was a woman this time. No reason to believe she was a demon, other than the same forlorn look she cast in Melissa’s direction when they met gazes across the crowded cafe. Her hair was dark, her skin an olive, almost golden brown—a hue that Brandon did not possess—and she was svelte, with wide hips in tight black pants. Her breasts were ample, but nothing like the caricature of demon women—succubi—she’d seen online when she tried to find more information about incubi during another sleepless night. When Melissa waved to her, the woman smiled and revealed perfect teeth. “A student of yours?” Lydia asked. She narrowed her bifocals as she cast a gaze across the room.
