I aimed at the other Veldene that was moving fastly. It was hard to shoot and I might miss it. And if that happens, it'll be distracted and might even chase me down. "Tsk." This is going to be difficult.
I can't afford to miss this shot. Then I used the scanner and activated it, it scanned the veldenes at my sight and showed me its power level and its other stats. I was a bit astonished by this discovery. It felt nostalgic seeing something like this from the scanner.
Rank: F
Level: 6
HP: 100
It even shows the life bar! "...this is really like those games I played... this is... insane!"
Then later on, the scanner suggested:
Use 'scope'?
- increases shooting accuracy -
Holy sh...! I feel bad for getting hyped at the moment. "Yeah, use scope." I ordered.
Then my sight was enhanced from the scanner, I was able to keep up with observing the veldene's fast movements.
The scanner suggested again:
Recommended capacity percentage:
- 20% -
"Alright then, I'll go with that..." though I feel like my whole body is shaking from the previous stamina extractions, I tried to maintain my focus so I could kill or atleast bring down the veldene that's troubling 320.
Taking a deep breath, I sharpened my senses and tightly grips on my calibre. I carefully aimed on the veldene, predicting its every movements. When I learned its pattern movements, I striked. "Twenty percent, fire!..."
sfx: bang!
"GRAAAAWWH..." The veldene was finally down when I shot its leg. I was actually aiming for its head so its good as dead, still this was a lucky aim for a rookie like me. Looking at its stats with my scanner again, its life bar was decreased by half.
I also glanced at the other veldene that was shot down by 320. It also have its life bar decreased by half. Hmm, so aiming for their legs will kill them so easily like this.
Did the others haven't realized this yet?
Stepping out of the bushes, 320 immediately saw me. She still had a terrified look on her face. I quickly ran towards her to check up on her. "320! Are you alright? Did you got hurt anywhere?"
Tears ran down to hear cheeks as she shook her head. "Max... I...! Aah!"
"Graawh!..." 320 screamed as one of the veldenes that fallen down made a noise.
I was startled as well, so out of impulse I shot both straight to the head to kill it. "...Max... when did you--... n, nevermind. Are you a, alright?" 320 wasn't able to speak properly, her voice was trembling and as well as her whole body.
"I'm fine," I assured her, "I should be the one asking you that question."
I held her right hand that was twice as big than mine. She whimpered and immediately rested her head on my shoulder, she barely fits there but she still tried as it was some kind of manner that she finds comfort from. "I, I'm done for Max... things won't go well for me anymore!" she cried.
"Tell me, 320, what happened?!"
As she raised her left arm that she was hiding behind her back, my eyes widened at the terrifying sight. I wasn't able to realize that the yellow stains behind 320 were blood. Delsyians blood are a golden shade of yellow, how could I forget that?
Her blood was still dripping from her left arm because half of her left arm was torn off.
"Shi--..." I stopped myself from cursing.
This must be so hard to bear, I can't imagine her pain right now even if I experienced death about two times already. Those deaths felt painless after all. Seeing her suffering from the fatal wound, I immediately have taken action. "320, give me your communicator. Let's contact 437 to fetch us and the others! And so we can treat your wound quickly!"
"It's on my left pocket." She said. Then she laid her back on the ground looking restless and pale due to blood loss. I hurried to get her communicator, and as I got it I opened it.
I was going to contact 437 but it was a bit hard for me to read their written language since I just started learning them. Good thing I managed to call 437. "...437! Hey?!"
Shw picked up the call. "Max! Okay, I'll bring the ship there! Just you wait guys!" And just like that, the call ended.
"...tsk." I heard 320 muttering as she bear's the pain.
"Let's wait a little longer, 437 will come to get us. And, and we'll treat your left arm as soon as we can." I told her.
Her eyes started to blink heavily while tears are coming out of her eyes. "Yeah, it's just... it hurts so much..."
"320 d, don't sleep, okay? You need to stay awake while we wait." I'm afraid that if I let her close her eyes, then she might die!
"I, I feel so tired."
"Just for a little while, please keep those eyes open!"
Then she focused her eyes on me, "...thanks though."
"..."
"Thank you for saving me, Max." Her words felt like she's going to depart from this world soon. But I'm eager not to let her go just yet.
"Don't thank me yet! I'll hear those words after you get better!"
"Max, I... okay..." Suddenly, the wind got stronger and we were shaded from the daylight. As I looked up at the sky, I saw the ship.
"Guys!!" We heard 437's voice from the ship.
"320! Let's move!" Then I assisted 320 to stand up so we could immediately get in the ship when it lands. When the gates of the ship opens, 113 and 974 were already there.
They quickly helped 320 to get in, and 974 treated her wounds immediately. I just waited along with 113 while we move to 710's location. "Oh, I almost forgot!" I removed 113's scanner from my left eye and returned it to him.
As he stares at the scanner on my hand, he pushed it to me. "No, I think this will help you fight better. You need this more than I do."
"But you told me last time that scanner's are only given to squad leaders!"
"Yeah, but it's just like some guide anyway for better fighting management. So I insist, just take it."
"O, Okay..." then I placed it back at my left eye again. This scanner really helped me earlier, so I'll be really putting it to good use.
Chapter end.
