Revived, Part I

023 looked at me like he heard the most ridiculous thing ever. "Kid, judging by your looks I think you'll just weight us down. You can't do anything."

"But... but your friends are gonna die if we don't do anything right now!" I told him.

He seem to agree with what I just said but he's still hesitating to give me orders. "Still a no, kid. I owe you a lot, but I don't wanna be in debt to you. Stay here and let them handle things."

"Can't you atleast give me a chance to help you in any kind of way?"

He sighed from my stubborness. "This could kill you, are you really sure about this?"

I nodded, trying to show how sincere I am.

"Fine. I'll scan your stats first to see if you're fit to help them. If not, I'll let you help with something else." Then he used his left hand to touch the device on his left eye. "Stand still." He ordered.

I stood infront of him, then some blue light from the device on his left eye scanned my whole body. After that, he had this surprised look on his face. "What the hell is this?" He asked himself.

"So, am I fit to help them?"

"Yeah kid, infact, I can't believe this stats. Is my scanner broken or something? Is this really possible? It's just so unbelievable."

"What do you mean by that?" I asked. He's really confusing me right now.

He shook his head and answered. "Yeah, you can help. But I don't think you can operate a spine ceptor since you're pretty small and you lack knowledge about it."

"Then what else can I do?"

"I think you can activate the cannon. You've got enough power to activate one, but I'll have to guide you."

"O-Okay." I answered feeling nervous and excited at the same time. Can't believe I'm going to operate a weapon!

"Let's get the cannon out of the storage room." He said and I helped him push his wheelchair towards where he's leading me. When we got to the storage room, he opened the huge door, and there lay a bunch of weapons infront of my eyes. "Where's the cannon?" I asked.

The he pointed at the corner. "You probably can't carry that yourself." He said, and he's right. The cannon was just way too huge for me. "We'll have to carry this together."

As we went there, we pulled it off the ground and placed it on his lap. I was too mesmerized by the cannon with its designs. And when I touched it, my vision changed. Everything was all bright blue and there were a lot of things written everywhere-- "Careful kid!!" 023 took my hand away from the cannon.

"You might activate it and kill both of us!"

"Ah sorry!!" But what was that? What was all those things I saw?

We went back to our place before then he placed the cannon near the opened gate. "Okay, I'll give you a quick lecture. I'm gonna explain it only once, so listen carefully."

"Okay! I will."

"This cannon can be activated by your mind once you connect to it by touching this circuits--" he pointed at the blue glowing circuits of the cannon. "--I assumed you've seen something strange earlier, like everything turned different in your vision right?"

"Yes!"

"If that happens, it's already activated. Then the next thing to do is aim the cannon at that damn thing and use voice control on this cannon to fire." Damn, this excites me.

"Where are we going to aim?"

He pointed quite far away. And I saw something gigantic from that distance. It was like some huge green creature with an undescribable form. I can see that it got a huge mouth and it shoots some kind of liquid out of its mouth, maybe the acid that 023 was talking about.

His teammates were also there, firing weapons at that creature. But it wasn't doing damage, it was really just to slow that creature down. "Kid! Hey! It's not the time to watch and stare!"

"Oh sorry... so I just have to shoot that thing over there?"

"Yeah, but I'm not quite sure if it'll work." He suddenly said.

"What!? I thought you said I can do it?"

"I'm just not sure. Also, that cannon is extremely dangerous to the user. And only assymetricates with the highest codes and highest skills are able to activate and fire a great amount of energy to destroy those Veldenes. I could also do it, but the energy that fire is insufficient to kill that monster." He really is hesitating with me using this cannon.

"Really sorry if I'm asking a lot, but I really just have to. So how is this thing dangerous to the user?"

"It sucks your life force exchange for energy to kill those kinds of things." Woah, so this thing could literally kill me. "So I can die from using this... it better be worth it." I said.

"Are you really sure, kid?! There's no turning back."

"Yeah!" Then I touched the circuits and activated the cannon. I could still hear 023 talk. "Use voice control! Say 'scope' so you can see and aim, and don't use max capacity! If you use it, you'll be dead after this." He ordered.

I deeply breathed in and did what I was told.

"Scope." I commanded. Then I had a scope on my vision, I can see the whole place again. I aimed the cannon at the center of the Veldene. "How can I stop this from using max capacity? And what do I have to say to fire this thing?"

I felt his hand on my back and heard him answer. "Use ten to fifteen percent capacity, and just say 'fire'."

"Just ten to fifteen percent? Wouldn't that be too weak?!"

"If it exceeds to that percent, you might take damage. Now just go with it."

I sighed and had my aim steady on the Veldene. I'm still unsure with the ten to fifteen percent, so I did what I think is best. "Thirty percent capacity! Fire!!" I yelled.

"KID NO!!!" 023 screamed.

sfx: BAM!

White light beam came out of the cannon and quickly reached the Veldene. As it met, a huge explosion happened. My body suddenly felt extremely ill. I disconnected from the cannon then my body fell down. "You f*****g i***t!! You almost died!" 023 said.

I just stared at his face because I was unable to move and talk. Later on, my eyes started to close. This situation feels like deja vu...

Wait... am I dying again?

I didn't had enough time to think about it. And I was back to that empty feeling when I died before.
