As I finally exited the cafeteria my phone started ringing. I immediate answered it without checking who called me
“What have you done this time Ramon? You are the current topic in the board meeting and they all look pissed” Elena said
“I didn’t do anything wrong. How about I go to your office and explain myself there?” I proposed
“I can’t at the moment, I am currently at the board meeting” Elena said then hangs up
“Looks like Vermilion’s clan is on the move” I said then went on my way
I went to the restroom so I could freshen up a bit then I heard someone talking from inside and it looked like they were pretty tense. I stopped and looked around. It seems there are no other students around. I started listening to their conversation
“Who is that Ramon guy anyway? He thinks that he is so tough facing Vermilion like that.”
“But bro he seems hardcore right. Only the Bathala clan manages to face the Von Dire like that”
“True, but you know what happened to their clan after right? The Von Dire knocked them of the ranking”
“Don’t forget about the ladies being s*x slaves and men being tortured”
“If I was that guy, I should know my place”
“Yeah even Skylia was violated”
“See! That’s what you get when you messed with the demon”
“We should just vote Vermilion in the election to avoid conflict. I seriously don’t want to get involved in their fight”
I slammed the door as I entered the restroom
“How could you say something like that! You know why Vermilion and his clan are acting all superior, it is because you let them!”
“They don’t have the right to boss you all around. If you could only face him like the Bathala clan and I did they will no longer strike fear”
“Now I am begging you please don’t vote for Vermilion, vote for me instead. I promise you as soon as I won the election the university’s atmosphere will change”
The two men just walked past by me like I was invisible. As soon as they exited the restroom, they immediately ran away.
I rinsed my face then headed back to my class. Looks like some of my classmates are still terrified. Approached the twins
“How’s everyone doing?” I asked
“Not good” Cherry Lyn said
“Don’t worry I will win this. Trust me” I said
The classes resumed but my classmates are all spaced out. Looks like I need to study double time to meet our average grade quota for this quarter. The classes are all finished and all my classmates immediately packed their things and left like they are running from someone
I tried talking to them but Darryl Lyn grabbed my hand and looked me in the eyes like she was telling me to stop. I took a deep breath in order for me to calm down. I then grabbed a chair and sat in front of them
“Tell me should I continue?” I seriously asked
“It is not out choice to begin with but personally I want to see you win” Cherry Lyn said
“As for me I seriously don’t want to get involved in all of this. It is really frustrating at my part”
“If you excuse me, I should go” Darryl Lyn said as she stands up
I held her hand but she just pulled it away then left. I tried chasing her but Cherry Lyn stopped me
“We should give her time to think maybe tomorrow everything will be back to the things it was before”
“I should head out also. Later” Cherry Lyn said as she followed Darryl Lyn
I started packing my things and headed out as well. Then Ms. De Villa entered our room
“What are you still doing here?” She asked
“I was about to leave thou” I said as I exited the room
“Paloma waits. Do you have time?” She asked
“Yeah, why?” I said
She then tilts her head signaling that she wants to talk to me so I entered the room. I sat in the desk right in front of her and she sat down on her chair
“Tell me Paloma are you willing to risk everything just to win the election?” She seriously asked
The atmosphere become intense
“Not everything Ma’am. I don’t want other people getting involved in our personal fight” I answered
“So you are facing death all alone? You are really foolish aren’t you”
“I know you are intelligent but why not use that here? Surely you know that Vermilion has tons of supporters and you have no chance in beating him in the polls but still you dare to continue”
“Tell me Paloma where are you getting the will to pursue all of this?” She asked
“I hate seeing people acting all superior like the others are only trash for them to step on”
“If I won this election, I will personally reshape this university” I said
“I see. What are your plans after winning the election? What is your platform to begin with?” She asked
“My goal is to remove the university’s ranking” I said with full conviction
Ms. De Villa then just started giggling
“What’s funny?” I asked
“Nothing just remembered a joke earlier” She answered
“So if we don’t have anything else to talk to, I should get going I still need to visit Skylia at the hospital” I said as I went on my way
“Paloma wait, best luck in winning the election” She said
I gave her a huge smile then waved goodbye
I exited the room and saw the students in the hallway looking at me. I didn’t mind them at all and just continued walking. I passed by Vermilion’s classroom and it seems no one was there but the door is completely opened and the lights are on
“Strange” I said
Then my phone vibrated. Elena sent me a message
“We should talk” the text message she sent me
I felt something was wrong so I immediately rushed outside the building. I started looking for my bike but it wasn’t there where I last parked it. I scanned the area and saw my lock got cut off. I was seriously pissed. I immediately gave Elena a call
“Can you pick me up my bike was stolen” I said
She then dropped the call. Several minutes later my staff arrived and we immediately headed straight to the main building. As soon as I entered the room I saw the current student council seating on the couch.
“Have a seat” Elena seems serious
The student council then sat down to their respective seats
“I called you here today because you have a huge problem”
“Words around the campus that you and Vermilion are fighting. Why so?” she asked
“So you heard. Well he started it but I am going to finish it”
“I can’t stand seeing the other students being stepped up by the high-ranking students. Yes, they are talented and smart but that doesn’t change the fact that we are all equal” I said
“You really don’t get it do you! The Von Dire clan are the most powerful clan on and of the campus and you are just a pathetic rural kid that is acting all mighty”
“Do you think you can face a clan like them? I don’t think so” she said
“Yes, I can! Because I am not alone. As long as Skylia, Cherry Lyn, Darryl Lyn and the rest of my class is right by my side I will to whatever it takes just to win the election”
“If you don’t have anything important to tell I should leave I still need to visit Skylia” I said as I stood up
“Wait Ramon” Katarina said and she seems pissed
“I want you to revoke your candidacy” She said
“Make me” I said as I slam the table
“Please I am begging you” she then started crying
Her members immediately stood up and started comforting her
“Ramon we don’t want you to stop the fight but think about the people getting involved”
“Yeah Ramon I know you are a good person and all but aren’t you taking this way too far?”
“Yes we are confident that you would win the election but after winning what are your plans? Can you really stop the Von Dire clan?” words coming from the members
“I can, Vermilion and I had an agreement if he is truly a man he should stick to his word” I said
“What if he didn’t he is a demon after all” Elena said
“Don’t worry I have a plan”
“Will you support me on this guys?” I asked
“Well my job is on the line here you know. The board wants me to persuade you to revoke your candidacy” Elena informed
“Why so?” I asked
“As we told you the Von Dire clan is powerful on and off campus. Of course, they have members on the board” Elena informed
“Yes, even in the student council we have a Von Dire. This meeting is secret that is why he isn’t here today” a member informed
“I am asking you one last time are you with me or not?” I asked
Elena gave a long sigh
“You better win the election or else” Elena agreed
The whole student council agreed as well
“Well then that’s settled. If you excuse me I still need to go to the hospital”
“Elena I will be using the car from now on” I said
She made a hand gesture which means go on with it
