Chapter One

Skye's POV It's been a few months since I'd met my mate, and only one month since her grandparents made her move in with me. She's not spoken, nor looked at me in nearly four weeks. I gave her a choice, I meant it when I said she could choose me or the one she truly wanted. I shouldn't have mentioned anything to her cousin about finding my mate and her not wanting me. I'm not sure how he figured out that was talking about Diana, but... I don't know. I feel horrible for my part in it I guess. Diana and I were getting to know each other, but as the time got closer for me to return home and her constantly rejecting my advances.. I wasn't thinking when I asked Jessica, the omega to come back to my room. I knew then and there it was wrong, but I had needs that my mate refused to acknowledge. But when she opened the door and found me and the girl tangled up in my bedsheets, I knew I'd f****d up. I learned after she ran out why she was there. She wanted to see if I'd like to have a late dinner with her. I wanted that so much, but after what she walked in on she bolted before I could say a word. If I could turn back the hands of time and reject the omega, I would have done it in a heartbeat. The distraught look in her eyes seeing me with another broke every fiber in my being. Some would say I had every right to do what I did, when Diana herself had another man. But I could see why she didn't want me, I was new and she'd already given her heart to another. I could smell him on her often, but it wasn't my place to judge where her heart led her. I cleared my throat and knocked softly on the wooden door in front of me. I was carrying a tray of lunch. I had picked out a simple white tulip and placed it in a small vase by her plate. Tulips are a bold flower that represents friendship; most classically known as symbols of deep love and devotion, they're a wonderful way to represent the bond between others. So with this flower I was hoping that by offering her a shoulder, it would help open her up to me more. Her guard smirked at me when he saw how nervous I'd become after knocking. I glared at him and he straightened up more and looked forward, his armor clanking as he did so. He was a pure bred vampire who I trusted most. There was no question when Mom asked me who to post at her side. Jackson has protected me time and time again, so of course I'm putting my most trusted guard at my mates side. The door squeaked open and my eyes moved to the most ethereal shade of blue eyes I had ever seen. Those eyes made the brightest days look dim in comparison. I gave her a lopsided grin and lifted up the tray. "Could I have lunch with you?" Diana pursed her lips and looked down at the tray, her eyes instantly going to the tulip. "I'm not feeling well today, Skye. Maybe another time?" "Should I send for a doctor?" I asked, worried she was sick and I didn't notice. "No thank you. I'll be fine." Diana went to close the door but I moved quickly and grabbed it before it shut. "Please, I know you hate me, but at least let me make sure you're alright?" She sighed softly, looked back at the food I had and eventually stepped back, opening the door wider. "I don't hate you,x she murmured. My heart skipped a beat and I walked over the threshold and into her space. "I hope you like strawberry pancakes... it's a favorite of my mother's." A smile crossed my features as I thought of how much love my mom put into her cooking. "I'm not picky, but if you should know, I prefer banana and blueberries on top of my pancakes, not in it." My smile widened. She may be ignoring me, but she's expressing herself more. Giving me small tidbits about herself. I nodded to the patio table that was out on the extended balcony attached to the living area of her quarters. I picked this apartment out with the knowledge of how much she loves fresh air and the smell of flowers. Her room overlooked a lake that was surrounded by wild flowers, and the sun set on this side of the castle. I loved the idea of the sun waking her up in the morning with the kiss of the heat. But ,mostly it reminded me of her room back in Canada. And no matter how cold it was outside, she never seemed to care when the sun was rising or falling, she was outside watching it. I pulled her seat out for her and smiled softly, her beautiful gaze lifting to mine in a curious manner. "Please sit, I have to tell you something.." "I'm not going to like this conversation am I?" I glanced away from her. I knew damn well she wouldn't like what news I brought. Diana sighed and sat down in the seat. "Thank you," She mumbled. I smiled again and leaned down to her ear. "You're welcome princess." I smirked at the shudder that rippled through her, knowing her body wasn't the one that rejected me made me a little hopeful she'll accept what I have to say with grace and not anger. I fought off the urge to place a kiss on her cheek and stood up straight. I cleared my throat and went to my seat across from her and sat down. I removed the lid from the tray and took my plate then offered hers over to her. My heart skipped a beat when I noticed the small smile on her lips when she took the plate from me. Baby steps, just as Dad said. 'Don't rush into things like most mates do. Get to know her better first.' his mantra echoed in my head and I nodded to myself, agreeing to do just that. However that may be hard to do, once I tell her what our parents did behind our back. I picked at my food, eating small bites of the pancakes here and there as I contemplated how I would bring it up. After ten minutes of our forks clanking against the plates, Diana finally broke the awkward silence. "Skye? You said you had something to tell me. But I think I already know what it is." I sighed deeply and fell back into my seat. "Our parents arranged a marriage between you and I." Her gaze fell to the plate in front of her. "When?" she asked softly. "This Saturday..." I answered honestly. Her hands trembled as she placed her fork down on the plate. "Will we have to... consummate it with everyone watching?" I chuckled, but she was serious. I cleared my throat and reached over offering her my hand. Diana just stared at it, then eventually placed her warm hand in mine. I noticed her eyes try to change shades, her wolf wanting to burst free at our small contact. "We don't do that here. All I've been asked to do is mark you and you me after we've said I do. My parents don't like that your bloodline requires more than one male and they want me to claim you as my mate before anyone else shows up." I explained. "I don't like it either." she whispered, tears filling her cerulean eyes. "I am sorry it came to this, Diana." Diana nodded and sniffled. "If we do this..." "I promise to not touch you in any way... at least not until you're ready." I told her, and I meant it. I wanted her trust before things got carried away and we ended up hurting one another because of it. "It isn't that, Skye." she murmured, her face looking away and her cheeks turned red. I gave her small hand a squeeze. "Talk to me love, I will not judge. What are your requirements to agree with me on this marriage?" Her face heated even more, I had to Avery my gaze due to the red disappearing beneath her shirt. A shirt which hung low, leaving me open to the imagination of what she looked like without it on. "It's just that..." she bit her lip when I looked back up at her face. "I've never...had s*x, with someone before." I smiled brightly at her nervous comment. "That's alright. As I said before, I will not touch you before you're ready." "What if I want you to?" she whispered "..to touch me intimately I mean." I didn't expect her to say that. Hell I didn't even know she was a virgin. I assumed with how much she loves Marco, and that she and him were an intimate couple like most boyfriends and girlfriends were these days. "Diana if this is because of what you saw-" "It's not...well, I mean it mostly isn't. I want to do it. And who is better than my husband to be my first?" I sighed and let her hand go. "The man you love should be the one you give that to." The tears that built in her eyes finally fell. "You are my mate and my future. I won't have you giving me something like your virtue just to make me happy. I want you to appreciate our new bond, and later on...when you are ready, I'll be there when you need me."
