John's P.O.V

"Jack, come on man let's get this s**t over with. I don't want to be here any longer than I need to."

I say to my gamma as we exit the Yukon. We just arrived at Dark moon pack for the low life Danny's son Chris's Alpha ceremony. If I had to take a guess, They invited me in the hopes I'll be his disease-ridden daughter's mate. It would ensure the peace treaty for his pack.This pack always invites the most strongest, richest and most powerful packs they can. If The ranked members are not mated with Danny's daughter, then they hope it's a member of their pack who is also ranked. She has been after me for a while now and I have never given her the time of day. I have heard so much about her that if I was mated to her, I would reject her. I have always wanted a pure she-wolf and that girl is far from pure. She always goes after the Alphas that are considered strong and powerful and have money. She stalks them out. She is greedy. it's all about the power when it comes to people like her and her pack. Don't get me wrong, I cherish the mate bond to the fullest and would never want to go against our mother, the Moon Goddess, but this pack and other packs like it are greedy, self-centered and only care about what they can gain from others. They only want to get on the gravy train. You do not have to be ruthless to be "a great leader and strong pack" as they claim they are. My father ran our pack with fairness and kindness. He was stern and pushed our warriors to their full potential and is a very respected man, all without intimidation and without being ruthless. That is pretty much how I am now. Respect is earned not demanded.

"You think I want to be here either. I miss Skylar and I like this pack just as much as you do."

I rub my forehead in frustration as Jack once again whines again for the umpteenth time since before we even left our pack house. I heard him b***h and moan every 5 minutes for the past 6 hours. It was the longest ride of my entire life. The man can't go a few moments away from his mate, Skylar before he acts like it's the end of the world. He knows that I hate this pack. They are known for being ruthless killers who have murdered entire packs full of innocent people along with women and children. They claim it was justified and legal challenges. Ok however believe it wasn't. Something always felt off about each killing. Anyway, normally I would bring my beta and best friend, Nick along with me but he is doing some private business out of town for me, so I brought Jack instead, after all he is my gamma. Finally he gets out of the vehicle with a frown on his face and dragging his feet. I roll my eyes and shake my head back and forth at him and the way he is acting.

"Let's go Jack. Quit dragging your ass! the sooner we get this done and over with, the sooner we can leave and get back home and you can be with Sky.

That seemed to perk him up a bit and we began to make our way around the pack house, towards the back where the ceremony is being held. We were greeted by one of the elders in attendance, Rick. He is a very well respected man

"Good evening Alpha John, gamma Jack."

He extends his hand for us to shake.

"Good even elder Rick."

Jack and I say in unison as we shake his hand in return

"I hope you're both doing well this evening."

"We are sir, thank you. Jack here was just whining like a little girl over missing his mate. He's whipped."

"HEY!!! I am NOT whipped, nor was whining like a girl. Or whining at all for that matter. I was simply stating a fact, that I miss her. Ain't no shame in my game."

yeah, okay. Whatever you say there buddy.

We all began to laugh. Jack knows we are just busting his balls.

"Yeah yeah, keep on telling yourself that man and maybe I will believe it someday."

I pat Jack on his back, jokingly. After walking further around the pack house, we finally made it to the back yard. A girl with black hair and a tray offered me some refreshments. Jack and I took some and we thanked her. She bowed her head at us and went on her way serving more people.

"The asshole is finally becoming Alpha."

Jack whispers in my ear with a smirk on his face as he shakes his head like he can't believe it.

"I know man. I can't believe it. He will run it the way his father did. They are just alike, way too cocky and they treat everyone like they are beneath them. I still can't believe they invited me"

I shake my head and roll my eyes at the situation.

"Speaking of that, whose idea do you think it was?"

"Honestly, I think it was..."

I stopped what I was saying mid sentence when the most amazing smell hit my nose. It is like vanilla and wild berries mixed together creating the amazing scent. I have never in my life smelled something so heavenly, so inviting, so enticing in my entire life. It was as if I was in a daze. Blaze, my wolf was going bat s**t crazy. I have never seen him act this way. I started to look around frantically for the source of the smell. I HAD to and NEED to find out where it is coming from.

"Yo man, are you alright?

I completely ignored Jack and without saying a word, I began to walk away leaving Jack standing there looking confused. He began to follow me, sensing something was wrong but I just sped up as I kept pushing my way through people right and left, not even caring or apologizing to people I bumped into with my shoulder and ignoring the grunts, groans and glares. As an Alpha I would put them all in their place, but at the moment I didn't care. Two she wolves came up to me trying to flirt and started paw at me.

"Don't f*****g touch me!

I growled at them, telling them not to f*****g touch me. They started shaking from my growl and bowed their heads and apologized and scurried away.

Nothing and no one matters right now except finding the scent. It's so damn invigorating and mouth watering. I continue following the smell and find myself in the woods, away from the crowd of people and the smell is getting strong but something is wrong. It's off. I can smell blood. Why am I smelling blood? It didn't take long for me to find the answer to my question when I saw three she-wolves surrounding something on the ground. Then I saw a foot aiming for.... wait, is that someone's head?

as soon as I saw what looked to be a body, Blaze started saying the word 'mate' over and over. I was furious at what I was seeing. I let out a powerful, ground shaking growl.

"GET THE f**k AWAY FROM MY MATE!!!

I boom.

"MATE?"

All three of them scream at the same time.

I use my werewolf speed to rush over to where she lay, shoving them out of my way, making them all stumble backwards and one fall over. I'm facing these despicable people with pure rage and unadulterated hate. I'm trying my damnedest to keep my wolf at bay and each passing second that I see them it's becoming harder and harder. I turn back to them snarling making them tremble. Two of them I recognized. One of them was Sam and the other was Morgan, the Luna and her cunt of a daughter, who had a look of jealousy and rage, but most importantly, fear. They were all scared.

I see Morgan trying to help up the one that fell over and once they got her up they took off running like a killer was after them. I bent down looking at the tiny she-wolf laying on the ground. There was so much blood and my heart was beating so fast. I slowly and as gently as I possibly can scoop my mate up in my arms causing her hair to fall out of her face. Even though she is covered in blood and badly beaten, she is still the most gorgeous person on this planet I've ever seen. I was in love and so was Blaze. I carry her out of the woods and back to the pack house. People were starting to stare and point and whisper amongst themselves.

"SOMEONE FIND A DOCTOR NOW!"

I yell out. Jack is by my side within a few seconds, having heard my voice he was able to find me.

"What's wrong man?"

He looks at me with concern whilst narrowing his eyes at my mate in confusion and gasping upon seeing the state she's in.

"Mate."

Was all I had to say for him to take off running looking for a doctor. A few seconds later a man that looks to be in his late fifties to early sixties comes rushing out behind Jack along with two nurses pulling a stretcher. All of their faces going pale at the sight before them.One of the nurses covers her mouth with her hands.I softly lay her tiny body down and watch as they wheel her away following right behind. They took her to a room and would not let us in.

"I'm sorry Alpha, but you can't go in at the moment while he is working on her. He can't be distracted. I'm sure you understand.There is a waiting room that you can sit in for now and as soon as we know something we will come and get you."

After the nurse took Jack and I to the waiting room, we thanked her and she took her leave. I was pacing the back and forth, rubbing my face with my hands a tugging at my hair. I can't f*****g believe it. I was about to snap but I just remained quiet for awhile, lost in my own head and thoughts

"What the hell happened?"

I let out a deep sigh and take a seat.

"They were beating her."

I was getting ready to explain what happened and what I saw when another nurse came into the waiting room getting our attention.

"Alpha?

I snap my head in her direction.

"If you will please follow me, I'll take you to her. Doctor Scott is in there with her.

Jack and I follow the nurse to the room my mate is in. She then bows her head in respect and leaves. I take a deep breath before I enter the room to relax and prepare myself for the news. I open the door and I see the doctor looking at the fluid bags and charting down on his note pad. the doctor looks up at me with a sad and worried expression, no doubt he is scared I'll go off. I see my beautiful mate laying there. She looks like an angel. All I want to do is lay beside her and hold her. I'll protect her with every fiber of my being even if it kills me. From this day forth I will make sure she knows just how loved, cared for and cherished she is by me. She will never know pain or be hurt ever again

"Hello Alpha."

The doctor addressed me with a bow of his head

"how bad is it?"

I was holding my breath waiting for him to tell me the news that I know will piss me the f**k off.

"She was beaten pretty badly. I did x-rays to look to see if anything was broken or if there was internal bleeding. There wasn't. Aside from stitches to the head, she is very lucky. There weren't any new broken bones just some old ones in all states of healing, old and new bruises. She is also extremely malnourished. I have given her some pain meds and some IV's for nutrition to help get something into her system. Overall she should be just fine."

WHAT?

I let out a very angry growl making the doctor audibly gulp in fear.

Did I hear that correctly?

"Yes, yes you did and I am ready to rip these asshole apart."

Blaze growls too as he answered my unasked question and I one thousand percent agree with him, but right now we need to try and hold it together.

"WHAT THE F**K? New broken bones? All states of healing? Are you saying this isn't the first time she's been beaten like this? and malnourished? as in she doesn't eat? like they f*****g starve her?

I was trying my hardest to keep my wolf in. He was on the verge of snapping. and let me just say that it's not good if he does.

" Yes Alpha, it appears so. I hate to be the bearer of more bad news, but I must tell you, this is the first time she has ever received medical attention.

"Why is that doc?"

"I was forbidden to ever help her. Alpha and Luna commanded me. I had no idea who she was as I have never seen her myself but my nurses told me who she was when I brought her back to work on her and a few other things as well that are pretty disturbing."

Chris's P.O.V

It's the day my Alpha ceremony and I'm currently in my room f**king Erin 9 ways to Sunday. I've got her on all fours. she is screaming and moaning. I'm thrusting into her so hard and fast and I know I'm going to c*m soon. As I'm about to, I smell her, my mate. I've known since last year that Stephany was my mate but she wouldn't have known until she became of age, which is today I know she is getting closer because I can smell her. Her scent is getting stronger as she is nearing my room. I thrust harder a few more times spilling inside of Erin, not caring if she came. As long as I got off that is all I care about. I pull out of her, grab her by her arm, fling open my door and shove her out, naked and all, slamming my door behind her a few minutes before Stephany arrives. Leaving Erin's clothes on my floor. I could hear Stephany yelling at her to leave. I knew she would run and tell my sister who will tell my parents about what just happened, getting Stephany in trouble. Erin can't fight for s**t! Stephany isn't allowed to talk unless spoken to. Right before she could even knock, I opened my door, grabbed her by the arm, forcefully yanked her into my room and pinned her against the door with my body. She was struggling to break free but I pushed my body tightly against hers. I lean my head down close to her neck and inhale deeply. Goddess she smells amazing and my d**k was becoming hard again. She shivers which made me harder. She tried to push me away but I yanked her hard by her hair. She lets out a whimper and I waste no time crashing my lips to hers. Did I make a mistake? Then it dawned on me, I cared about her. I think I always have. I decided to lay down for a few hours and when I woke up I took a shower and got dressed. Once I was dressed. I knew I needed to head down stairs. It was almost time for the exchange of power and title. When I reached the bottom stairs, I saw my father. He was smiling at me

"There you are boy. It's time."

My father half hugs me as he slaps my back leading us through the front door of our pack house and around the back where it is being held. We walk up to the stage and I'm in the middle of dad and Elder Mark. Who greets me with a hand shake.

"Are you ready for this son?"

"Yes sir."

I reply sounding very proud. I have waited for this moment all my life. I figured my mother would be here but she wasn't but I didn't think too much into it, she was probably running a bit behind. I was also looking around for Stephany and I didn't see her either but I just figured she is serving people elsewhere. My dad brought me out of my thoughts as he addressed the crowd.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I would like to take this time to welcome visiting Alphas and Elders to bear witness this exchange of power and title of Alpha to my son, Christopher Williams."

Everyone started clapping and whistling and cheering me on. My father asked Elder Mark to come up on stage.

"Young ones, We are all gathered here this fine

evening to watch as a new Alpha takes over your pack. It is an honor and privilege that I get to help and witness with this exchange. Alpha Danny? would you please face your son and recite the questions you have for Chris?"

My father nodded his head as he turned and faced me and smiled.

"Chris, will you promise to lead this pack known as Dark moon with strength, pride and honor to the best of your abilities?"

"I will."

"Will you be responsible for all the members and treat everyone with respect, kindness and fairness?"

"I will."

"Will you be a friend as well as family and fight and protect them with all your heart?"

"I will."

"Alpha Danny, Chris, please put your right hand out and turn your palms upward towards the moon."

We do as Elder Mark asks and watched as he reaches towards a bag that was by his feet and pulls out two chalices and a long, slender box. When he opens it I see it's a dagger. He slices both mine and my father's palm and asks us to drip some blood in each chalice, telling us to drink just one.

"The drinking of the one chalice is the power

exchange of Alpha from your father to you. The other one is for when you find and announce your Luna. Your mother will add her blood to hand down her title signifying that Dark moon has its Luna. This will not affect your title or the power you where given to lead your pack. Now for the title

exchange. Danny, if you will."

"I hereby hand down my title as Alpha of Dark moon pack to Christopher Williams. Ladies and gentlemen, your new Alpha!"

My dad booms with excitement and pride. Everyone then stands and claps even harder than before and congratulates me. Once everything was over my mother announced we could all eat. I didn't even see when she came to watch the ceremony, but there she was. I passed the food table because I wasn't hungry. I made my way off the stage and noticed a few people whispering and murmuring.

"Can you believe it?"

"I know, it's super f*****g crazy."

"they beat her so bad."

"Stephany probably deserved it. She is so disrespectful."

What caught my attention was when I heard them say Stephany's name and something about her getting beat. I was seeing red and hurried off to find Sam. As I was running away I heard someone say something to me but didn't really pay attention.

"Congratulations Alpha."

"thank you"

I muttered and made my way inside the pack house. I asked someone if they had seen her to which they told me she was in her room. I went up to the second floor and burst through the door not even knocking it giving a f**k if she gets pissed off.

"What the hell? Have you heard of knocking? you can't just barge in my room like that."

"Are you guys f*****g stupid?!?"

I was dripping with anger and fury.

"Come again?"

"You f*****g heard me. You guys beat Stephany? With elders in attendance? Have you lost your God damn mind?"

I was seething mad. I was mad that they did something which could have put our pack in jeopardy but I was apoplectic they beat the piss out of her. I really wasn't sure why I was being like this. I never even gave Stephany the time of day and when she accepted my rejection it was like these feelings came out. To be honest I think I have always liked her but my family's mind set towards her always got in the way.

"You have no room to talk. You have scarred that poor girl physically and mentally and you rejected her."

My wolf growls angrily at me. I knew he was right but I was planning on fixing that and loving her. I didn't answer Spike because right now my issue is with my sister.

"I...I don't know what you're ta...talking about."

my sister stutters whilst trying to blow me off only it's not working. I'm not dumb like her

"You were caught you dumb f*****g bitch."

"What? No we weren't. We pulled her deep in the woods. so relax."

"RELAX? you want me to relax when someone saw you guys or heard which doesn't surprise me considering you bitches scream like wild f*****g banshees.What happens if this gets out and the Elders find out? How do you think that will look for the pack? "

I roar in her face, making her flinch.

She stutters as she answers me with her head down but that wasn't good enough.

I growled.

"Yes Alpha. Let's just calm down, okay? Alright, look, I swear to you that no one saw us do anything. We pulled her into the woods. IF anyone is saying something it's probably about her mate carrying her away into the sunset like a knight in shining armour. He didn't see the initial beating which we can use to our advantage by saying she attacked us, ranked members. We only reacted."

That may work. then it registered what she said.

"I know. I can't believe that ugly useless waste of space found a mate."

My sister scuffs whilst rolling her eyes.

This isn't good. I stormed out of my sister's room slamming the door behind me so hard that it broke. I made my way up to my floor so I can rest before the midnight run, which was 2 hours away. When I got to my floor I saw Erin leaning against my door. f**k me.

I groan as Erin wraps her arms around my torso and kisses my neck. I roughly pushed her off of me. I didn't want to deal with her.

I snapped at her. I just wanted to go in my room and be left the f**k alone but Erin just ignores my tone and rolls her eyes as she places her hands on my hips. She. then pulled me close to her, completely forgetting or not really caring that I pushed her off of me just a second ago.

"And then we can start planning for me to become Luna just like we talked about."

I used to lie and tell her she would become my Luna, mainly because she was an easy f**k but now that will NEVER happen. The thought alone disgusts me. Stephany will be my Luna, no one else. I growl at her using my Alpha tone forcing her to comply. She scoffed and flipped me off before stomping out of my room like a child who didn't get their way. Oh well. not my problem. I've got to think of something to get my mate back. I can't... no, scratch that, I WON'T allow another fucker take what belongs to me. SHE MINE!! I WILL have her if it's the last thing I do.
