Aprils POV
“But how?” Alastair asked. He crossed his arms and furrowed his brows. I have a feeling he’s not happy at the fact that he’s not my only mate.
“You do realize who my Mother is right? She only had one mate, but apparently every high ranking unmated male felt a bond with her. She only felt it for my Dad. It makes sense that the mate bond would be different for us. We’re not just normal wolves.” Sebastian said.
“So she doesn’t pick between them?” Sebastian asked. I noticed the men took a step closer to me like they were being threatened.
“No. I.. saw something last week. I saw this exact moment. I did some digging on it and apparently my Father Gerrick, had more than one mate. And you know Lycans don’t have second chance mates.” My Mom said. She gave me a sad smile and continued on.
“You don’t choose. They are all your Goddess given mates.” She continued. Alastair looked at me in complete shock and flashed his eyes to the man’s arm wrapped around my rib cage. A slight growl left is lips and I moved back a little, leaning farther into the man behind me.
His touch feels.. electrifying. Like I could catch fire at any second from the intense feeling I get from him. He runs his other hand down my arm so softly, it sends chills up my back.
“Kla-Klaus?” A girl from the crowd shuffled to the front. She pushed her red hair from her face and looked at me, then back at the man behind me.
He ripped his hands from me and stepped away and Mom, Dad, and Sebastian all growled at him.
“What’s going on?” The girl pushed on. I turned and looked at the beautiful man that pulled himself away from me. He runs his fingers through his short auburn hair and looks at me worried. He opens his mouth to speak, but instead his mouth snaps shut and he’s wordless. Without saying a single word he turns and walks out of the ballroom. I fought the urge to run to him, and Iris whines for out our mate.
The red headed girl ran to the door and when she stood next to me, I saw a face completely full of disgust. She quickly opened the door and ran after my mate. The mate that just ran away from me.
“I..” I looked at everyone quickly before making up my mind and ditching the party. It just started and it’s already awkward as h*ll. I ran out of the ballroom so fast the doors slamming shut behind me. I don’t know where I’m going, I just run.
I turned the corner quickly and my heel caught the corner of a rug and snapped. I saw the floor coming at me quickly but before I could hit the ground I felt big but gentle hands wrap around my waist and pull me up. I was immediately taken in my his dark brown eyes, so dark they almost look black. His short curly black hair sitting perfectly on top of his head and his perfectly chiseled face just aching for my touch. Am I drooling?
“You left us.” He said. I melted in his hands like putty at the sound of his deep Russian accent. The corners of his lips curl up into a small grin, and I can’t help but smile back. His delicious scent of marshmallows and lavender fills my nose and a small moan leaves my mouth. I look at him wide eyed and speak.
“I’m sorry. I just.. panicked.” I said. He pulled me up and against his chest. Our lips only inches apart. I scanned over his face when it hit me, he’s a vampire. No wonder he caught be just inches away from hitting the ground. Vampires are very fast.
As the seconds went on he never removed his arms from me. But that was okay, I was in Heaven wrapped beneath his muscles. I could die right now and be perfectly content.
“Oh, there you guys are.” I heard Alastair’s familiar voice behind us. I turned and looked at him and he noticed the arms around me and growled again.
“You’ve got to stop growling. She’s just as much my mate as she is yours.” The man holding me hissed. I turn and look at him questionably.
“What’s your name?” I asked.
“Alexei, my Queen.” He purred.
“I’m not a Queen.” I said.
“Not the High Queen no. That’s your mother. When you mate me you’ll be the Queen of the vampires. After Viktor passed I became the last vampire King.” He said.
“And Luna to my pack..” Alastair said behind me. I turned around and looked at him shocked. I was about to say something when Alexei spoke.
“Where’s the other guy?” He asked. I shrugged my shoulders.
“I’m right here.” I heard behind all of us. We all turned and looked at him. I took in his beautifully toned body, at least what I could see outside of his clothing. His muscles, had muscles. I smelled anger around me and his eyes dropped to the floor.
“I’m sorry that I.. that I left. I needed to do something.” He said. He took a step closer to me and Alastair grabbed my wrist.
“If you’re going to try to reject her I’m here to let you know I won’t let you.” Alastair growled.
“I’m not here to reject her. I’m Lycan. Even if I wanted to reject her, I can’t.” He scoffed. He reached for me again and I grabbed his hand. He pulled me against his chest and leaned into my neck.
“I’m sorry.” He whispered. I felt relief hit me like a brick. I was so worried I was going to be rejected.
“Now, what is your name?” I asked. He pulled away, keeping his hands in mine.
“Klaus.” He said softly. A small smile formed on my face.
“Is there somewhere we can all go, somewhere without an audience?” He asked. I nodded my head.
“Follow me.” I said. I pulled his hand leading them all to the back of the palace. When I want alone time, I got to the gardens. Even if it is a little chilly out, it’s the perfect place to speak alone with my mates. That’s so weird saying. Mates. I never would’ve imagined..
I pulled them outside and immediately I was picked off the ground by Klaus bridal style. I was captivated completely by his beautiful blue eyes. Eyes that remind me of the clearest waters.
“So are you going to explain why you felt the need to embarrass our mate like that?” Alastair asked. He sat down under one of the apple trees.
“That wasn’t my intention I just.. didn’t know what to do.” Klaus said. He sat me down and sat beside Alastair and pulled me onto his lap.
Alexei sat in front of us and took my hand in his.
“You seemed perfectly happy until that girl came forward.” I said. He looked away from me with.. guilt?
“I’m an idiot.” He says. I look at him confused when he faces me and cups my face looking me directly in the eyes.
“I was so sure that if I found my mate, that I wouldn’t want her. That girl was my girlfriend. And I’m sure my Dad thinks this is the funniest thing ever, he told me I would regret bringing her. And I do. I wasn’t thinking of anyone but myself and I embarrassed you.” He said lowly.
“But you’re not rejecting her right?” Alexei asked and Klaus shook his head.
“No. When she followed me out, I broke up with her. I shouldn’t have dated her in the first place. She’s an awesome girl, but my father said since she’s an omega, she would never be my queen.” Klaus said.
“Your queen?” I asked.
“I’m King Henry’s son. He rules over the southern part of the Lycan territory, whereas your Father is king of the Northern Territory. Your mom may rule over us all, but she wanted us to keep our titles. She basically just took the place of the elders.” He said.
“Lycan? But your aura feels.. different than a Lycans.” I said.
“That’s because I’m half witch. My mom is a hybrid. She was half witch, half wolf when she met my Father. After they mated, he changed her to Lycan. Her witch side never left.” Klaus said. Alastair looked at us all and winced.
“I’m the only one who’s not a king.” Alastair said. A small giggle left my lips and I quickly put my hands over my mouth.
“What’s so funny?” He asked.
“The fact that you think I care if you’re a king or not is kind of laughable. You’re just as much my mate as they are.” I said. He flashed me a big smile and nodded.
“How is any of this going to work? I have a kingdom of vampires to take care of, you have a kingdom of Lycans, and you have a pack of wolves.” Alexei said. He ran his fingers through his curly hair and shook his head.
“This is going to be difficult.” He continued.
“It doesn’t have to be. We can join our kingdoms. We can rule as one.” Klaus said. Alastair shook his head.
“You really think Lycans, wolves, and vampires can live in one kingdom and not kill each other?” Alastair asked.
“It might be difficult at first, but I believe we can do it. Maybe since April is Lycan, witch, and vampire.. maybe she can bring us all together.” Klaus said.
“I don’t know man. This seems all too.. difficult. I feel like nothing good can come of this.” Alexei said.
“Well we have to make this work. She’s our mate.” Alastair said.
“I’m sure you guys will figure that all out.” I heard my Mom’s voice come around the gardens.
“My Queen. I.. i uh.. I wanted to apologize for earlier for.. running.” Klaus said. I stood up and grabbed his hand pulling him up as well. Alastair and Alexei got up too.
“I understand. It can be difficult when you find out that you’re not the only mate. Let’s just pretend it didn’t happen. As long as you treat my daughter right, you don’t have to run.” My mom smiled. I noticed Klaus tense up beside me.
“The run will be shortly. Why don’t you guys come back in, enjoy some of the party and then you can have your.. sexy time later.” Mom winked at me.
“Mom! That’s horrid. I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say that. We were just talking!” I was horrified that she would even say that. I hear Alexei giggle behind me and I turn and glare at him, shutting him up instantly.
“Fine. But come on. You’re the other main guest and the party is boring without you.” She said. I nodded my head and we headed back for the ballroom.
“Uh there you are! We were worried.” Beckett said as she ran up to us. She glared heavily at Klaus and then pulled me in for a hug.
“Want me to kill him?” She whispered in my ear and I laughed.
“No. We’ve talked. Everything is fine.” I said and she nodded.
“Let’s get back to the party!” She cheers happily. Alexei grabbed one of my hands, Klaus grabbed the other and Alastair walked right next to Klaus.
“I can’t get over your beauty, mate.” Alexei whispered in my ear. Goosebumps made their appearance all over my arms and my face felt hot.
“Even more so when you blush.” He smiled.
