Two months later

Just one more hour and I can go home. I was ready to go home this has been a very long day. Two cashiers called out making the rest of us have to work extra hard. I didn't mind, it's just that I haven't been feeling well I'm exhausted. The only thing that I'm looking forward to is my 18th birthday next week.

“Stop day dreaming and ring my stuff up loser.” I looked up to see Damon's girlfriend and her friends.

“You're the loser running around with someone else's mate.” I snapped. Her eyes widened in shock then she glared at me.

“You will pay for that.” An hour later my shift was over and I couldn't be happier.

“Serenity in my office.”

“Yes sir?” I sat down waiting for him to talk he closed the door and sat at his desk.

“I have to let you go.” My smile faded.

“Why? I thought I was doing a good job.”

“You are, you're one of my best employees but you insulted the owners daughter. He gave me orders to let you go. I'm very sorry I know that you needed this job.”

“It's OK it's not your fault you're doing your job. It's just that she's been bullying me in school and I kind of snapped. I shouldn't have let my temper get the best of me”

“I understand, honestly I can't stand the girl either. You take care.”

“I will goodbye sir.”

“Bye.” He smiled sadly. I got my coat and bag and started to walk home. I looked up at the sky it was cloudy please don’t rain. I hated walking on this street it's basically deserted, if it started to rain no one would see me.

A car drove by nearly hitting me. I flew back and tripped. 'Ahh my ankle'. This is just great. I screamed when it started to thunder I didn't have anywhere to hide.

I stood up and winced my ankle was twisted, I started to cry. First I lose my job, now my ankle is twisted and it's raining. I was going to be soaked, it would take me an hour to get home at this rate.

I cried for about ten minutes, I know I know, I’m a cry baby I still cry when I watch Disney movies especially Lion King. A light bulb went off in my head, I'm so slow. I could shift and my ankle would heal faster. I went behind a tree and got undressed. After trying to shift a couple of times I started to panic.

Why couldn't I shift? Why can't I shift? I asked my wolf.

I got dressed and went back to the road. They really need to make a sidewalk or trail on the side of this road, walking around here is dangerous. After five minutes a car rode past. I could hardly see in the rain because my glasses flew off and cracked when I fell, I just threw them in my bag. The car stopped and backed up. Please don't let it be some psycho murderer.

“Hey are you OK? I saw you limp- Serenity! Is that you? What are you doing in the rain? Get in!”

“I-Im fine. I'm almost home.” I lied.

“I won't tell you again get in.”

“OK.” He's just as pushy as Damon.

“Why are limping are you OK?”

“Yes I just tripped over my bag. Are you sure that I'm not ruining your seats?” This car probably cost more than my house!

“Non sense. Why were you in the rain?”

“I was fired from my job.” My eyes started to water. How was I going to take care of myself. My dad hardly buys food. He pays the bills and use the rest on alcohol.

“Oh no, please don't cry.” My emotions have been all over the place.

“I'm sorry to hear that. What are you going to do?” I shrugged.

“My 18th birthday is next week. My dad is going to throw me out, he said his job is done when I turn 18.”

I didn’t say anything after that, I just looked out of the window thinking. I must have fallen asleep. When I woke up I was in a nice big comfy bed. I stretched and opened my eyes. I looked around and panicked where am I? I really did get kidnapped!

“It's about time you woke up, you must have been tired.” I jumped and turned to Damien, I was so relieved. I don't think I can handle anything else today.

“Yeah I've been tired lately. Where am I?”

“At one of our apartments.”

“How many do you have?” I mean seriously how many apartments did they need? Not mention the cabin.

“That's classified.” He winked. I blushed and looked away.

“What time is it?” I asked sitting up.

“It's ten.”

“What? My dad is going to kill me! We have to go take me home.”

“No you're not going back there. If he's going to throw you out next week you might as well stay here. I won't have my future sister in law and niece or nephew in danger.”

“I'm not in any dang- What do you mean future niece or nephew I'm not pregnant.”

“Oh sweet naive Serenity." He chuckled.

"Yes you are, I smelled it as soon as I carried you in the house.”

I looked at him like he was crazy. That would explain the mood swings and why I’ve been so tired lately. Damon is going to murder me. How could I have been so careless.

“No I can't be pregnant I'm only 17.”

“You'll be 18 next week.”

“So, I don't have my self together. I don't even have a job or a place to stay.”

“You're living here from now on.” I wasn't listening I zoned out. Damon's going to kill me. I burst out crying.

“Calm down.”

“No you don't understand! He hates me but he doesn't want to reject me. He uses me for his own pleasure whether I want to or not. His girlfriend bullies me, my dad hates me I'm all alone. I cant even provide for my baby I'm a terrible mom already.”

“Sshh sshhh it's going to be OK. You have me and my family.”

Damien

I gritted my teeth I was so angry.

“Why didn't you tell me?”

“I didn't want to bother you with my problems.” She whispered while looking at her hands.

“I'm going to kill Damon.” I can't believe he would use his own mate, especially someone as sweet as Serenity. He doesn't deserve her.

“It's going to be OK.” She was hysterical, Damon did a number on her. The girl is terrified. The only reason why she would be this scared is if he hit her." I growled and she jumped.

“Sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I'm going to ask you something and don't lie.”

She wiped her tears and nodded.

“Has Damon ever hit you?” She looked down.

“Please I don't want to talk about it.”

“Serenity.” I growled.

“OK-OK yes once by mistake at the cabin and.."

Serenity

“OK-OK yes once by mistake at the cabin and..No I can't talk about it. I promised him that I wouldn’t tell. I don't ever want to make him angry again.”

“Tell me. I won't say anything I'll just make sure to hit him harder.”

“No don't hurt him.” I cried.

“But he hurt you.” He had a point. I should be happy to see someone hurt him. I should be cheering Damien on while he kick his ass.

“I'm fine now.”

“What happened?” I sighed there no getting out of this.

Flash back

“OK so you do the research I'll do the slides and presentation. Is that OK with you?” My research partner asked.

“Yes that's fine.” I went to the aisle that the book was on that I needed. I stood on the chair trying to reach the book, I hated being so short.

“Hey Serenity you need help?” He startled me and being the clumsy person that I am I slipped, luckily he was there to catch me.

I blushed. “Are you OK?”

“Yes I'm fine thanks.”

“No problem, why didn't you ask for help?”

“You we're busy?” He chuckled.

“Which book did you want?”

“The red one.” We sat back down an hour later we we're packing up and in the parking lot.

“Do you need a lift?”

“No I'm fine thanks for asking. I'll see you tomorrow same time.”

“OK.”

I went to work, home, then to sleep. I had the same boring routine everyday. The next day I woke up feeling hot. I took a cold shower got dressed and went to school. I was walking to the bathroom when I was pulled inside an empty classroom.

“Why are you here? You're in heat.” He asked angrily.

“I cant miss any days I need my scholarship.”

“Go home.” He told me through gritted teeth.

“Please Damon don't make me.”

“Suit yourself, when the pain gets unbearable don't look to me.”

I went to my classroom and sat down the time went by slow. I started to sweat and have cramps, maybe I should have listened. When I got to my locker I almost passed out from the pain. How the heck am I supposed to get through this? I couldn't go back to class with this pain. I went outside to the bleachers, the cool air helped a bit but not a lot. Someone cleared their throat and I looked up.

“Are you OK?”

“Yes.” I lied.

“You don't look fine. You're pale and sweating.”

“I- Ow.” I said through gritted teeth.

His eyes darkened. “Do you smell that?” He asked.

“No.” I shook my head.

“It smells delicious.” He sniffed the air again.

“It-It's you!” He pulled me to his chest and kissed my neck. His touch helped a little but not a lot, he was nothing compared to Damon.

“Come on let's get out of here I can make you feel better.” He said huskily, that's when I came to my senses.

“No I can't I have a mate.”

“Well you shouldn't be in school while you're on heat.” He snapped.

“I'm sorry I have to go.”

I ran into the building and was slammed against the lockers, seconds later I was being kissed. I tried to push the person away but he was too strong. I managed to get him off of me and tried to run but he caught me.

“You smell wonderful.” Damn this heat!

“I have to go.” I blushed, I've never had this much attention from the male species.

“Please let go.”

“You're coming with me.” I felt his arousal through his jeans. I'm an i***t, I should have listened and went back home. He grabbed my arm and I knew it was going to bruise.

“Is there a problem here?” The security guard asked. I was so relieved to see an adult.

“No.” We both said.

“Then get to class.”

I didn’t go to class. I went to the roof, that’s where Damon found me crying.

“You’re in pain, only I can take it away.” He smirked.

“Please Damon it hurts.”

“I’m not going to mark you.”

“But that’s the only way to completely stop it.” I cried.

“I can do something for you in the mean time.” I’m surprised no one heard us, I was loud I couldn’t help it. The heat had me feeling like a horny teenage boy. After I put my clothes on I ran downstairs to the front of the building. I was ashamed of myself. How I could do that outside and on the roof in school.

“Hey you’re Serenity right?”

“Yes you're the girl from the office.”

“Yup that's me and you're Damon's mate.” My eyes widened.

“I don't know what you're talking about. It was nice meeting you.” I said trying to go around her.

“Hey it's OK, he knows that I know. My whole family knows. They just don't know who you are, but that's going to change.”

She smiled like she was up to something.

“No.. No way. I'm not sure if this is a good idea it'll piss him off.”

“He'll get over it.”

“I just don't want to make him mad he's freaking scary.”

“Listen, you're my brothers mate. Making you my sister, I've always wanted a sister. It's just me and my mom and a whole bunch of barbaric over protective men. Pleeeaaassseee.” She pouted.

I sighed. “OK.”

“Yay get in.” My eyes widened they might as well stay that size.

“You meant today?” I shrieked.

“Of course silly!” She giggled.

“OK but I have to be home at six.”

“Why?”

“My dad is over protective and if I don't cook he won't eat.” OK so it wasn’t the complete truth. He wasn’t over protective because he loved me, he was over protective because I was the only person he could take his anger out on.

“Where's your mom?”

“She um.. She went missing years ago everyone gave up but me.” I grabbed my necklace I always held it when I thought about her.

“I'm so sorry.”

“It's OK.”

“Well on the bright side now you have a sister and a mother, my mom is going to love you.”

“How did you know that Damon rejected me? I didn’t tell anyone and I’m sure he didn’t.” She winked.

“I have my ways.” She winked. We pulled up to a mansion, no it was bigger than a mansion it was a palace. Keira laughed at my reaction.

“Its not as big as it looks. Come on lets go in.”

“Mom I'm home!” Keira yelled.

“In the kitchen.”

“Hey mom.”

“Hi honey who's this?” I waved shyly. I wasn't good at meeting people.

“Hi I'm Joy.”

“I-I'm Serenity.”

“OMG you're so cute.”

“Thanks.” I blushed.

“This is Damon's mate.” Her eyes widened.

“OMG!” She hugged me and ran out the room screaming Damien and Damon's name.

“Oh No she's going to rat me out! I knew this was a bad idea he's going to kill me.”

A few seconds later I heard heavy foot steps. She came back with two men looking like Damon and Damien. They looked like they could be the Princes older brothers. I cowered away and hid behind Keira. She was taller than me around 5'7 so I fit behind her perfectly.

“This is Serenity, Damon's mate.” Ms Joy introduced me.

“She's a little shy.” Keira said and they laughed.

“No need to be shy we won't hurt you.” I peeked around her gosh they were big and scary.

“H-Hi.”

“Isn't she cute!” Ms Joy gushed.

“She reminds me of a kitten with those big pretty eyes.”

“Yeah Damon is a lucky kid. Come on out Serenity you don't have to be afraid I'm Damien.”

"And I'm Damon.” I stepped from behind Kiera.

“If Damon ever does anything stupid you let us know.” If only they knew.

“We enjoy teaching him lessons that boy is too cocky for his own good.” King Damon said.

“Like somebody we know.” King Damien said and I giggled they smiled at me and I blushed.

“Aww look honey she's blushing.”

“I guess my good looks are too much for anyone to handle.”

“Stop teasing the girl Damon.” Ms joy said while rolling her eyes.

“Just be glad you don't have two mates they're a handful.”

“But you love us.”

“Yes I do.” She said while standing on her tippy toes kissing their cheeks. At least I'm not the only short one.

“Eww mom that's nasty!” Prince Damien yelled while walking in. He ran to me and crushed me in a bear hug.

“Serenity I didn't know you were coming over.”

“Can't...Breathe!”

“Sh*t I’m sorry.”

“Language.” Ms Joy said.

“Sorry mom.”

“Where is your brother?”

“He should be coming now.” My heart fluttered at the mention of his name. I thought they had football practice he was going to kill me.

“Hey mom I need you to-” He stopped mid sentence and looked at me with wide eyes.

“What are you doing here?” He glared.

“Damon Tucker that is NO way to speak to your mate now apologize.”

“It's OK Ms Tucker.” If only she knew all the other things he's done to me.

“Non sense call me Joy.” She cleared her throat glaring at Damon.

“Sorry.” He said while glaring at me.

“I heard about him rejecting you. If he so much as curse at you you let me know I'll handle him. Come everyone let's give them time alone. Dinner starts at seven I'll see you then.”

“Oh No thanks I have to be home at six.”

“You have to stay.” Damien said looking at me funny.

“My dad will kill me, he's very over protective.”

“No worries Damon will take you home and explain to your father. It's settled then see you at seven.” Everyone left except me, Damon and Damien.

“And Damon if you hurt her I will tell dad you know they don't take abuse on women.”

“Shut up and get out Damien.” Damon glared.

“Call me if you need me.” He said while looking at me. I nodded my head and he left the room.

Uh oh I new I was in trouble by the look on his face. “I can’t do anything to you here but later I will.”
